  1. Figured I'd start a thread. Though it's obviously painful as a fan not having the Brewers in it after four straight years, I still enjoy watching playoff baseball and four games in one day is always exciting. With respect to the games themselves, Guardians looking to close out the Rays in the top of the 9th. Meanwhile, the Phillies and Cardinals just started. I know who I'll be rooting for in that game.
  2. Hitting Yelich and Frelick one and two would solve a lot of this team's lineup problems as it would enable them to shift Adames, who is a low OBP hitter, to a more natural run producing spot.
  3. The person I was responding to said most of his grounders to the right side are weakly hit. That's factually not true. As far as anecdotal evidence, teams generally employ three infielders on the right side against him. Now, due to the rule change, there will be one less defender and more of his hard-hit ground balls will naturally find holes.
  4. There's nothing preventing them both from hitting at the top of the order. Would then enable them to move Adames down into more of a run-producing role...
  5. Actually, saying he hits a ton of weak grounders to the right side isn't accurate. He is among MLB leaders in hard-hit ground balls.
  6. As I stated, he's by far the best on the team at getting on-base right now and is our best base-runner. We need him at the top of the order.
  7. Another reliever to look into is James Karinchak from the Guardians. He'll be arbitration eligible for the first time this offseason, and the Guardians have proven to be way more cost conscious than us. He would provide some much-needed late inning dominance alongside Devin.
  8. Yeah, Yelich is nowhere near a "sunk cost" right now. He'll never fulfill his entire contract value, but he has important skills that this team otherwise severely lacks in, namely, the ability to get on base. If he can replicate his 121 WRC+ from the leadoff spot over the course of a full season, we'll be in a relatively good position. He could pair very nicely with Frelick at the top of the lineup. We still need one more consistent run producer, though, imho. Jose Abreu would be a great acquisition in that sense, assuming that he's willing to accept something similar to what we were seemingly willing to give to Justin Turner a couple offseasons ago.
  9. I and the person I was responding to were referring to the Yelich extension...

  11. Corbin with a perfect 3 innings to end the season. Three straight seasons with an ERA below 3 and finishes in the NL lead in Ks. Look forward to hopefully watching him open the season in Chicago yet again.
  12. It's easy to twirl you around. Or maybe you didn't see Omar Narvaez before he got to the Brewers...,
  13. At the very least, Pujols and Molina won't be there any more to torture us....
  14. A great day to finish tied for the final wild card spot and lose the tiebreaker as a fitting endnote to this season.
  15. Why should it cost Stearns his job when Attanasio was the one who pushed for and led the effort by all accounts??

  17. They'll be the favorites for sure given that they ultimately won the division. However, they're not out of the Brewers' reach by any stretch. Goldschmidt is also going to turn 36 next season, so you wonder how long he'll stay at his current level. And their rotation continues to be underwhelming.
  18. Agreed. Frelick (and Turang) will also hopefully help kickstart our transition from an "all or nothing" type of offense to one more oriented towards contact. Coincides nicely with the banning of the shift.
  19. Right. I'm just saying they're both high-quality options that are within our range and which would represent a significant improvement from this past year. Developing defense at the catching position is our specialty, too, so we should definitely target a guy like Jansen who is producing at a high level on offense. Jays have a roster crunch at catcher and will likely need to trade one of them this offseason.
  20. I thought we were talking about "needle-movers" cause we desperately need a catcher, too. Him or Sean Murphy would qualify as that.
  21. Danny Jansen is another candidate...
  22. Maybe. But I'd probably still rather have him on the team.
  23. Tyrone Taylor remains a really good 4th outfielder...
