  1. Black seems like a Cardinals-type player, to me. Hopefully without the annoying superiority complex and generally punchable face. Given their undeniable record of success, that is a good thing. Also, agreed that 1B is the position for him moving forward, though I'm sure they will also want him to retain the ability to play 2B and corner OF.
  2. Well, we know the Brewers aren't going to tear it down and are going into 2023 to compete. Also, kudos to Stearns for taking responsibility for the trade deadline and the failure to make the postseason.
  3. Good stuff and in line with what I'm thinking. I would probably decline the option on Wong though and use that $10 million to go after a reliever and/or starting pitching depth. Turang is ready. However, a trade for Danny Jansen will likely require more prospect capital than what you're currently giving TOR. A Wiemer/Mitchell/Turang would probably have to headline the deal.
  4. On a team desperate for offense, you want to jettison our only hitter who had an OPS over .800? A trade of Renfroe would mean starting Taylor or an all-rookie OF. Taylor, while a superb 4th outfielder, isn't quite on Renfroe's level and is best used as a supplemental option rather than an everyday option as we saw this year. As for the rookies, it is a big leap to assume that they will be able to immediately replicate Renfroe's 2.7 WAR from this year. That just isn't a risk a contending ball-club like the Brewers can afford to take. Overall, getting rid of Renfroe, our best hitter from this year, would be crippling to the offense without any significant outside additions. He is well worth the $11M price tag. Also, the possibility of Burnes being traded this offseason remains relatively remote. A 10-15% chance, imo.
  5. To be fair, it's just two posters who want to do this.
  6. Kolten Wong, option declined Brent Suter, non-tendered Trevor Gott, non-tendered Blake Treinen, signed for two years at $10 mil AAV Keston Hiura, traded to Oakland Athletics for A.J. Puk Danny Jansen, acquired from the Blue Jays for Joey Wiemer, Carlos Rodriguez, and Eduardo Garcia. 7. And Hiura struck out more than 40% of the time and his surface numbers significantly declined once he received greater playing time. Hiura hasn't produced anything on Abreu's stratosphere since 2019. Meanwhile, Abreu's underlying numbers, such as his avg. EV, hard hit %, and xSLG all were on par with or better than 2020/2021, and placed him among the league leaders. Unlike McCutchen, Abreu remains a high-level hitter, and shows no visible signs of decline.
  8. Is this a joke? Just look at the stats, man....
  9. The "fact" is that Renfroe has been a top 10 RF in MLB for each of the past two seasons. Given that he's squarely in the middle of his prime, that is likely to be the case once again in 2023, which makes the $11 million we're set to pay him worth it. Your bizarre hostility towards Renfroe is completely blinding your evaluation of his actual abilities.
  10. Precisely. You leave room for two rookies to take hold of a spot, while having Renfroe, Taylor, and Yelich as your intermediary assurance. That is almost certainly the direction Stearns and co. will take.
  11. Because we're currently in the midst of a competitive window whereas we were in a rebuild when we traded Lind. No way they go into next season with an all-rookie starting outfield, while retaining Burnes and Woodruff. Then, there is the fact that Renfroe was by a significant degree our best hitter this year.
  12. We're not in a position where we can opt not to pay it. Unless Attanasio and Stearns want to forego competing this year, which is highly unlikely. Renfroe has been a top 10 RF the past two years and provides assurance in the lineup when we'll need to bring along some rookies. He's worth the price.
  13. White Sox set to let him depart in free agency, per reports. Could prove to be exactly what this offense needs, given his BA/OBP and run production capabilities. Cost shouldn't be prohibitive either due to his age. Also, remember our Justin Turner pursuit from a couple offseasons ago? Eerily similar players and circumstances imo. And hits from a different side as Rowdy, so you could rotate them both between 1B and DH, though Rowdy would hopefully receive the lion's share of DH opportunities in such a scenario.
  14. White Sox are set to let Jose Abreu depart in free agency, per reports. Would provide some much needed BA/OBP and run production capabilities in the middle of the Brewers lineup. And given his age, the cost may not be prohibitive. It's also worth noting how Attanasio and Stearns showed significant interest in Justin Turner a couple of off-seasons ago. Eerily similar players in terms of age and production.
  15. Yeah. The Padres also had a worse lineup statistically than the Brewers this season, too.
  16. And they're out! So long Pujols and Molina. We won't miss ya.
  17. And Goldschmidt and Arenado both K with the tying runner on base in the eighth. Just keeps getting better and better. One more inning, Phils!
  18. Pujols and Molina on the basepaths....LOL
  19. Grisham homers again. Off Scherzer and DeGrom in back to back nights. Trade still worked out quite well for us, though.
  20. Yes. And move us into a different division than St. Louis. Stupid Rays and A's...
  21. Just Baseball lists the top tools in MILB as a follow-up to their top 100 list. As with their top 100, Brewers talent is heavily featured. Sal Frelick with the best hit tool (70). Brice Turang tied for the best infield defense tool (60). Joey Wiemer runner-up for power behind Elly De La Cruz. Sal Frelick runner-up for speed behind Corbin Carroll. Wiemer also mentioned for throwing arm. What a transformation in the farm system over the past few years. And all of these guys, with the exception of Chourio, finished the season in AAA and are poised to make an impact with the big-league club next season. https://www.justbaseball.com/prospects/the-best-position-player-tools-in-the-top-100/
  22. Yeah, there is no reason for Frelick to be ranked any lower than 50 after what he did in AAA. To not even have him in the top 100 is pure lunacy.
  23. Lol. Arenado, the Gold Glove defender.
  24. Awwww poor Cardinals.
  25. Williams actually has experience as a closer. Karinchak does not. Williams is fine where he is as one of the best relievers in baseball.
