  1. If that’s it, I’m kind of underwhelmed based on the reports of the White Sox asking price going back to the trade deadline.
  2. Preller back at it. Interested how this deal takes shape presuming no Salas, Merrill, or Devries.
  3. I agree it wouldn't just be Megill, but Vieira isn't that high on the pecking order.
  4. Chourio about to enter top 5?
  5. Why I would put Megill in the closer spot if Devin is out for OD.
  6. I’m sorry, I thought this was the “Brewers Still in Market for Rotation Depth” thread. Not the “Trevor Bauer Criminal/PR Case”thread. Seems pretty clear at this point that Bauer is not going to get signed. And at absolute minimum he’s not without blame for that. I’d still be up for Clevinger, Montgomery, or Snell on short-term deals.
  7. I just hope it’s Frelick in the leadoff spot on OD. Not a fan of having Mitchell’s K% over him.
  8. Arroyo and no Megill? I don’t see it. We’re going to need Megill if Devin has to start on the IL.
  9. Frelick was a better defender than Mitchell and Wiemer last year…
  10. If Trevor Bauer actually were still one of the best pitchers in the world, he'd be signed to an MLB roster by now.
  11. There also wasn’t a single SS close to Adames’ quality on the FA market. Adames’ closest comparable is Swanson, who easily cleared the nine figure threshold a year ago. Unless Adames gets injured or collapses at the plate or on defense, he will join Swanson in receiving a nine figure deal.
  12. Yeah. Adames is definitely in line for a 9 figure contract this off-season. He’s been that valuable and is young enough. Brewers need to steer clear, though. Unfortunately, with that kind of profile at SS, once the defense starts to decline you’re going to be in trouble.
  13. This indicates otherwise….Montgomery is insisting on a 7 year deal from the Red Sox. I think he’s a longer shot than Snell.
  14. I just don’t see it with Carlos Rodriguez. No way he’s going to get away with that fastball and control in the major leagues. I would sell high, if possible.
  15. I mean if Snell is willing to take a 3 year deal with high AAV and opt outs, it's more plausible for the Brewers than Montgomery over 5 years or longer. There's not really much of a difference. Montgomery's actually put up a higher fWAR than Snell the last three seasons.
  16. Depends. Montgomery is reportedly the one that's more set on receiving a long-term deal. He would almost certainly not be getting that from the Brewers.
  17. I get being down on the rotation compared to last year, but this is insanity. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10111890-tier-rankings-for-all-30-mlb-teams-entering-2024-season
  18. Defense really letting Ashby down.
  19. Anyone who watched Ashby at the end of last year can realize this is an improvement. He's getting closer. I'll be interested in seeing where he is at the end of ST.
  20. I think they want to start OD with a Yelich-Chourio-Mitchell alignment, with Sal at 2nd or 3rd. But whether it's maintained throughout the season is a different question.
  21. I personally am not (and I suspect MA and the brass aren't either) comfortable with any sort of major long term commitment to Snell and/or Montgomery. Such as what happened with Lohse and Garza and partly contributed to our 2015 rebuild. However, if there's a shorter term/pillow deal with a large AAV to be had, you absolutely go for it no questions asked.
  22. How am I putting words in your mouth? You're the one that initially said our rotation would be lucky to be better than bottom 10, and then when presented with the projections indicating a baseline expectation otherwise are like, "projections suck". Which is for all intents and purposes saying your opinion of our rotation is more reliable. No they're not perfect (this is statistically impossible btw), but they're by far the best of anything else that's out there. There's a reason why teams use them. Interestingly, what you want them to do, namely, account for random variance, would actually make them less accurate. I recommend these articles for a detailed explanation. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-imperfect-pursuit-of-a-perfect-baseball-forecast/ https://www.espn.com/fantasy/baseball/story/_/page/mlbdk2k15_projectionstalk/how-fantasy-baseball-projections-calculated-how-best-use-them
