  1. FWIW, Ortiz and Hall's Steamer projections are really nice.... Ortiz (Steamer600): .266/.318/.403, 100 wRC+, 2.4 fWAR (tied with Yelich for 3rd highest on the team) Hall: 3.59 ERA/3.84 FIP in 123 innings, 2.3 fWAR (2nd highest on the team after Freddy)
  2. Graduation everywhere except for BA, where he is currently ranked 93.
  3. Yeah, because playoff teams haven't chosen to go with veterans over prospects before in a playoff chase.... Their preferred infield (and the one they featured in the postseason) was Urias at 3B, Henderson at SS, and Westburg at 2B. Mateo off the bench. That's the definition of being blocked my man. What a bizarre narrative you're trying to spin that because Ortiz wasn't immediately installed as a starter in their infield the Orioles viewed him as a bust.
  4. @Brock Beauchamp Add: Jorge Quintana
  5. Uhhh, it’s pretty much been universally recognized within the prospect industry that COVID delayed and fudged up development timelines considering there wasn’t even a minor league season….
  6. Lol. It’s the same logic you’re applying. That because someone couldn’t supplant a guy with a .607 OPS it automatically means they’re a bust. That’s the only reason it seems crazy. I don’t know where you’re getting your facts from, but Ortiz most definitely did not spend all of 2022 and 2023 in MLB…. Also, you do realize that the Orioles had Gunnar Henderson playing SS ahead of Ortiz, too? And Jordan Westburg in the infield, too. He was quite simply blocked by Orioles stacked infield talent.
  7. You keep saying, "Ortiz is 25", which completely ignores that he was a college pick and two years of his development were torpedoed by COVID and injury. And by that same token of logic you must really be down on Jackson Holliday considering he also couldn't push Mateo and his .607 OPS off the SS position. Never mind the fact that they had Gunnar Henderson to play SS already on the big league club.
  8. That's interesting because holding Burnes and losing him for nothing is more likely to lead to mediocrity or worse long term imo. We got two top 100 prospects and a first round pick. That's fair value for 1 year of a top 10 MLB starter.
  9. Also, we just added the Comp A pick we would have gotten had we held onto Burnes. Just a year early....
  10. Adames' contract is expiring after this season....BT unlikely hit enough for SS. We have no one other than EBJ in the upper minors. I actually like Ortiz. With Hall, we very well could have just added the next Hader...
  11. BTV has it as a very slight overpay by the O's. But basically even value.
  12. A Josh Donaldson reunion remains something I'd sign up for. Now, if you want a more long-term solution in the infield, the Brewers should offer a package headlined by Sal Frelick to the Cardinals for Nolan Gorman. They need a true CFer (their current one is Edman, an infielder), and we need some left-handed power in the infield. Doubt it ever happens because it's an interdivisional trade with one of our two biggest rivals, but it makes so much sense for both sides.
  13. Yeah. If you're going to take away Turang's defense at 2B, which is key to our run prevention strategy, especially now that Hoskins is signed, it would have to be for a more surefire offensive upgrade than Rosario.
  14. I'm fine with no Turner in the end. He's barely playing any 3B at this stage of his career, and his offensive numbers could tank at any time. xWOBA and BB% down. K% up. Before we signed Rhys Hoskins my tune would have been different, but he just doesn't fit as well with this roster if we're going to have Yelich/Contreras taking up a significant % of DH ABs.
  15. Maybe and that would be one argument I could see, but it's also what he's played his entire minor league career while being the youngest player in his league at every stop and he's done just fine. No need to "hide" Chourio in a corner. He's a legit, 60 grade CFer.
  16. I don't believe the Brewers gave Chourio that contract to stuff him in the corners.
  17. Eh, I think if he pitches well in ST, it'd be enough to put him in the OD bullpen at least. Little difference between that and minor league rehab. Will be one where ST results actually do matter. I don't put too much stock into last year's few outing stint. He was playing with less than a full deck of cards, as we now know.
  18. A couple weeks for the extra year of control. June to avoid Super 2.
  19. Also, Misiorowski #33, Quero #35, and Black #46.... Only 4 top 100 players compared to Cubs' 7, but important to remember there's very little separating 60-100 and 100-150, where the Brewers presumably have Wilken, Lara, etc. Brewers' farm strength is top-line talent and depth up to around #15-20, where they're deeper than pretty much everyone except for the Orioles.
  20. Never mind the website was in error…
  21. Looks like they’re finally “unretiring” Gantner’s # and giving it to Hoskins. Per the official roster….
  22. I think they’re going to wait to get the extra year of control. Unless there’s an injury in ST.
  23. I think Ashby will eventually join the rotation, though maybe not at the outset of the season. I think, if he's healthy and shows well in ST, he'll probably start by working out of the bullpen in multiple inning stints before making the transition to the rotation. I expect the OD rotation to be Burnes, Peralta, Miley, Rea, and Ross. Gasser starts in AAA and is first up in case of injury.
