  1. I love the idea of Rios in CF, but if the Jays are talking about Penny, I don't think Mil. can compete. Unless the Dodgers just say no. I'm wondering if the possibility of J.D. Drew going back on the market could make the market cool for Rios for a bit.
  2. I wonder if this is just an extension of the supposed Brewers/Rockies trade talks that happened earlier this month. My guess is that someone is speculating based on previous news. The Rockies are likely not actively shopping Taveras, but will listen to offers and then give Clint Barmes a shot in CF.
  3. "You've been compromised. Abort mission and destroy this phone."
  4. What is suppan working with? Soft-tossing RHP. About .500 for his career. I would call him an above-average innings-eater. Not as good as Doug Davis of '04 & '05, but better than Davis of last year. He would be considered the #4 starter on the Brewers.
  5. I thought last night was terrific. The opposing parties plot was hilarious. My 2 favorite parts: 1. Creed taking a toy out of the "Toys for Tots" bin. 2. Michael drawing a line on his 'girlfriend's' arm so he could tell who she was. This show is high comedy.
  6. Amazing to look at the Rangers info and see that former Brewer closer Dan Kolb was their top rated prospect in BA in 1997.
  7. We've been playing the Singing Dogs' version of "Jingle Bells" My kids love that one.
  8. Ka-ching. Oh, Toby, stop being so smug. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. Unless something changes with the makeup of the position players on the roster, no way can they carry 2 LOOGYs (Shouse, Romero).
  10. How about the Nieves Negateus, the Correa Nowayea or the Hill Hiatus. Is this a Harry Potter book?
  11. And speaking as (very possibly) bf.net's first-ever "Ms. 3000", Wow! They should make a movie about you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif The 10th or the 17th would work for me. Every year I want to be there, and every year something comes up to prevent it. I'm hoping 2007 is 'my year.' At least Madison is a little closer to me, a 2 hour trip isn't too bad.
  12. This is probably a question for Patrick, but any input is appreciated. What is the situation with Max Scherzer and is he the only player unsigned from Round 1 in 2006? I would guess his injury issues have made the negotiations difficult with the D'backs (I think?). Wondering if there is any insight as to whether or not he'll sign or go back into the draft in June.
  13. With 50 rounds in 2 days to get through, MLB is not going to drag it out like the NFL does. But I could see 3 or 4 people going through the lists, analyzing picks and the like. A studio of Mayo, Sickels, Callis would be good. Unfortunately, they'll probably put in a name guy or 2 who does baseball but likely doesn't know the draft talent like the others do, but has the connections to find out who teams are going to take.
  14. What was Robinson's problem with Ohka again? My memory is slipping and I can't recall.
  15. Yeah, it likely won't appeal to anyone other than the real hardcore fans, unless they change it for TV and give a few minutes between picks to analyze and show some highlights. Otherwise, the rapid pace will really make for a disjointed broadcast I would guess.
  16. Yo is #10, Braun #17, Rogers #45.
  17. Why are they first noticing this now......? It's not likely they are. The standard operating procedure is to use a pitcher's shoulder/arm workouts to try to tighten things up. I would guess this generally works, as there are not many capsular shifts that are performed.
  18. Rumor central on ESPN.com says the O's have made a 2 yr., $9 million offer to Jay Payton.
  19. Give me some of that Mellow Mushroom! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smokin.gif
  20. Because of his size and the violence of his delivery, he has loose shoulders," Rooney said. The words "capsular shift" come to mind. I know D'Amico had one, anyone know of any other Brewer pitchers who did?
  21. Tenants who don't pay their rent and think that their lame excuse is a good one. Older kids who try to tell my young children that there is no Santa Claus. I'll bet there is a special place in hell for such kids. People who don't like Christmas, for whatever reason. Zune The fact that I see coupons for 24 packs of Pepsi products, but I can't get Pepsi One in a 24-pack.
  22. Really, it's almost to the point that, when a pitcher is drafted by the Brewers, I feel I should simultaneously send sympathy and a "get well soon" cards.
  23. Frankly, who cares, since he'll probably need rotator cuff surgery within the next couple of years. Sorry, I'm pretty pessimistic about pitching in the Brewer system these days.
  24. So, over the last 15+ years we have Bosio (pretty good until hurting his knee after leaving Milwaukee), Wegman (average to slightly above), Plesac (awesome closer for a short stretch, after which he became a solid set-up guy), Eldred (incredible rookie season, followed by not ever living up to hype), Navarro (couple pretty good season followed by being terrible), Sheets (awesome if he can get over the injury bug of the last couple of years). That's pretty much it other than one terrific year by D'Amico. No idea how that stacks up against other teams, but Milwaukee has to be close to the bottom at bringing successful pitchers up through their system since 1990.
  25. Bork, of that list I guess Wegman, Eldred, and Plesac are the only ones that would qualify as being good. The others either were not any good or could not stay healthy. So, as it stands right now. I'm seeing 4 good or better pitchers they've developed for their own team in the last 15 years. Man, is that terrible.
