  1. While I do have concerns about SS, CF, and the bullpen, I really believe this is the first time the Crew will go into a season a clear cut favorites in two decades. Just goes to show, if you draft well enough, you can trade away the unproven for the proven and make things exciting; something Sal Bando was never good enough to do. So- Does this mean everyone will leave Doug alone this year from the "he should be fired because he didn't get us the pitching help we needed" cracks?
  2. Man, here I am on the edge of my seat at 3 a.m. They're not gonna tell me anything tonight though, are they? Probably not. Man, I'm not gonna sleep.
  3. Every opening day I hear somebody talk about Feller throwing the only opening day no hitter. I'm guessing that this year I'll hear everyone say it. R.I.P.
  4. True, but if Tampa Bay is aware that everyone who doesn't get Lee or Greinke is going to come calling, don't you figure they'll probably hang onto him until then?
  5. Well, my projections for strikeouts by Brewer pitchers this year just went up.
  6. For a potential three team trade. Maybe one of those teams wants Lawrie, and that team has something the Royals want, and we can get Greinke (hypothetical example). But, as it is, I am fine with the way things went down.
  7. It is not uncommon for a team to leak potential trades that will not happen in order to stimulate other offers. Another G.M. can see the Brewers have just made a trade (Marcum) and are looking to make another one (Fielder), but in order to get him he has to do better than the Loney/Broxton offer. It's the way the dance is done.
  8. 1.) We can't win with the staff we have. 2.) Good free agent pitchers don't want to sign with Milwaukee. 3.) If we sign Weeks to an extension we have a second baseman. Maybe the trade isn't ideal, but people keep ripping of Doug for not getting pitching. This is what he has to do. There is no other way to get immediate pitching help. This shows me he wants to go for it this year and makes me believe that Prince will start the season in a Crew uniform.
  9. I never was gaga for Carlos, but I appreciated his versatility. He pitched as a starter, in long relief, as the setup man, and even closed briefly. Maybe that's because he wasn't great at any one thing, but he was good enough to get a chance to do everything. I never minded him being our "number 7" starter or our "3rd option" closer. He was a guy you could plug in anywhere in a pinch and every team needs a guy like that. I wish him the best.
  10. While it's true I hate the Cubs, I mourn the losses of Harry Caray and Ron Santo. Both seemed like good guys who were passionate about baseball. No matter what team someone may like, I always hate seeing passionate baseball people go. They've made my life so much better.
  11. Sorry if this seems out of place, but I really want to know what people think. It may creep a few of you out. Also, we still haven't figured out what band(s)/genre(s) to compare it to. Every Austin review compares the band to Guided By Voices, but I don't think this song is as analogous. Thanks.
  12. Best. Series. Ever. Be great if Vargas gets a save today.
  13. That's true, but the Cubs have gotten to see this one year in and year out for the last six or seven years, and familiarity breeds a reputation. Everyone looks like Scott Karl today.
  14. With that opening day lineup, if we start Hart and Gomez, we would have 4 lefties and a backup catcher on the bench.
  15. "I'd pick Austin on the basis that you could drive to Houston or Arlington to see live MLB games." Don't forget Round Rock, a suburb of Austin, where the Nashville Sounds visit a few times a year. Parra threw his no-no here.
  16. I live in Austin. Moved here from Madison two years ago. If I can help it, I am never leaving (only family situations could change that). I find flaws in every other city. Besides the three month heatwave, I have found no flaws here.
  17. Just curious: Does that 109 different lineups include the pitcher's spot, or is it 1-8?
  18. I swear that in past years I've been able to locate a media guide by this time (usually on ebay). However, I can't find one anywhere and brewers.com makes no mention of when it comes out. When is it officially supposed to be released?
  19. I just want the best 25 players on the opening day roster. Do I think Edmonds is one of them? Yes.
  20. I am really pulling for Manny on this one. That said, I have to out myself and say that I was not against the Suppan signing three years ago. However, he just keeps proving that he is not rotation worthy. I will be so glad when his contract is up at the end of the year.
  21. I can't decide if this is a good article or a bad one. Prince says he is in no hurry to talk extension, yet says he is happy in Milwaukee and wants to stay there "as long as he can." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4874850
