  1. Umps back on their ******** today. That strike call to Adames just wasn't even close.
  2. That was an awful error call. Was a super tough play to his backhand that the 1B should have picked.
  3. I'm just not surprised at this point. I haven't been able to stream games on my First Pitch app in ages.
  4. Mississippi Braves need to figure it out. Once again their game isn't even showing up as an option for me on MiLB.TV...this happened last night as well.
  5. A huge swing and miss by a guy with a career 35% K-rate in the minors. I think that context is necessary. I don't think it was a good pitch. The second pitch in the Gomez AB that he took for a ball was a much better executed slider.
  6. That last pitch to Gomez missed the zone by well over a foot. Just because a minor leaguer will swing at that doesn't mean MLB players will.
  7. 30% zone rate isn't going to fly in the MLB. His command at the moment is just not at a level that will be competitive in the MLB.
  8. Not a great inning from Cousins. He got some bad chases from AAA players that likely wouldn't have happened against MLB guys.
  9. No Brown back to back days. He wasn't put on the IL so I wonder what the issue is.
  10. I actually hope we start Mitchell today as our second LHH. Anderson isn't horrible in RF, but he's a steep drop off compared to Wiemer. Would be much more comfortable with Wiemer in RF and Mitchell in CF today. Would trot out a lineup like this. C - Contreras 1B - Voit 2B - Miller 3B - Anderson SS - Adames LF - Yelich CF - Mitchell RF - Wiemer DH - Brosseau
  11. First of all that's not even remotely true. Montgomery's career numbers - 571 IP, 92 ERA-, 89 FIP-, 93 xFIP-. Lauer's career numbers - 555 IP, 100 ERA-, 105 FIP-, 106 xFIP- Montgomery's last 2 seasons - 335 IP, 90 ERA-, 89 FIP-, 89 xFIP-. Lauer's last 2 seasons - 277 IP, 85 ERA-, 105 FIP-, 101 xFIP- Montgomery has been much better over his career and his significantly better peripheral numbers in 60 more innings the last two seasons. Second of all. The Cardinals absolutely rake LHP. They had a 131 wRC+ vs LHP last season and a career .353 wOBA against Lauer.
  12. This game feels like the Miley/Scherzer game of the Mets series. Don't expect us to win, but if we do then I feel great about the sweep coming tomorrow.
  13. Lauer on the mound against the Cards. Are they about to drop double digits after this Nightengale tweet?
  14. Sell. Sell. Sell. If Bryan Reynolds keeps up his hot start, someone is going to trade the farm for him.
  15. I wouldn't give up Black and Brown for half of a season of Giolito.
  16. Regarding Small, the zone % numbers are straight off of Savant, so this wasn't an eye test thing.
  17. Claudio also has been used in pretty low leverage so far in AAA. I don’t think he’s really viewed as an MLB guy anymore.
  18. Let's hope he is healthy. His stuff looks very real. Think he's a darkhorse shuttle option later in the year if he continues to look like this.
  19. What's most concerning is he isn't even throwing other pitches. He threw 27 FB and 2 CH tonight. Of his 27 FB only 6 were inside the zone. I feel like it's one thing if he's struggling locating a breaking ball, but struggling to locate a 91 mph FB is a tough look. Just a mechanical mess is my guess because he misses so many pitches super high (early release) or super low and in (late release)
  20. Man rough outing for Ethan Small. Velo back down to his usual numbers after being up in his 1st outing of the year and just absolutely zero command/control. Jon Singleton also lets the runner score from 2B on an attempted double play because he wasn't paying attention.
  21. Clayton Andrews comes in inheriting a runner on 3rd base and 1 out and strikes out both batters. His stuff is absolutely electric. Hard to believe he's throwing 94 from his frame. Hope he stays healthy this year.
  22. Frelick in RF both games is interesting. Seems Brewers want him to get some time out there. Think last year he largely just played LF and CF. Gasser's command was pretty poor today. First game of the year, so I won't read too much into it but it has been a problem since he got to AAA. Only 38% of his pitches were in the zone today which is really, really poor.
  23. I think that was the plan, but not sure that is the case at the moment. When Milner was working his second inning yesterday, Payamps was getting loose in the bullpen to come in if Milner was in danger not Guerra.
  24. Because his success was not at all sustainable with his gigantic K-rate! Hiura got an extended run towards the end of the season and absolutely flopped. His success was entirely on the back of unsustainable HR/FB rates leaving his margin for error basically non-existent.
  25. The strikeouts are down, but the quality of contact they are giving up has been very good so their xERA are mostly solid. Williams - 1.92 xERA Bush - 4.13 xERA Strzelecki - 1.44 xERA Milner - 2.15 xERA Varland - 3.46 xERA Payamps - 3.02 xERA Guerra - 4.42 xERA Wilson - 7.20 xERA Wilson also likely won’t be in the bullpen when Houser gets back.
