    DSL Brewers 1 have been in some type of funk at the plate as a team lately. They haven’t scored more than 2 runs as a team since August 12th. For a team that was above .500 for much of the DSL season, a loss today guarantees them to finish the season under .500

    This site has contact quality, but it isn't super routinely updated only a couple days a week it feels like. It also has things like IVB and VAA for pitchers which is nice. https://www.prospectslive.com/2023-aaa-statcast-data I just take the statcast data directly from the baseball savant game pages and put it into an excel document for guys like Gasser and Black and Frelick, Turang, Uribe, Jarvis before they were promoted/traded.

    Surface numbers look great, but overall performance was pretty meh. Velo still isn't holding up past the 1st/2nd inning. Only 7 whiffs and 42% zone rate. Quality of contact against was amazing, but if his velo is going to be 91-93 he would get absolutely lit up in the MLB like we saw earlier this year.

    Seeing a lot of 91 to 93 FB velo from Lauer tonight. Seems the 94 velo isn't carrying deeper than the 1st and 2nd innings.

    If they are bringing Hiura up you would think they do it before September 1st because if he's added to the 40 man roster on or after September 1st then he's not eligible for the playoffs.

    Yes which is why average LA is kind of noisy but it generally tells a pretty good picture. I prefer sweet spot % which is batted balls between 8 and 32 degrees because those are the most optimized launch angles. Black's sweet spot % is currently 13.9% after his double. Only 5 balls hit between 8 and 32 degrees of his 36 batted balls and he currently has a 66.7% GB rate. Edit: For reference the lowest sweet spot % among qualified MLB hitters is 27.1% which is double what Black's sweet spot % is. It's a small sample and it's not indicative of Black going forward just shows how much he's been struggling in AAA.

    Black with a -33 LA grounder in his first AB. Through 35 batted balls in AAA he has a -0.7 LA. 22 batted balls with a negative LA. Really, really rough batted ball numbers for him in terms of velo and LA. Really has been struggling at the plate for a few weeks now even dating back to AA. In positive news, Keston Hiura hit another HR!

    Padres are promoting Ethan Salas to AA. Absolutely crazy. He just turned 17 in June and has not fared well in A+. Crazy aggressive promotion to the point I’m seeing some actual prospect people question it.

    Think Biloxi is just moving to a 6 man rotation to keep pitchers to just going once a week this late in the season. Misiorowski has thrown 71 innings this year and only threw 78 last year. Rodriguez threw 107 last year and is already at 100 this year. Myers has peaked at 119 and is already at 109. Mejias already has hit his career high in IP.

    Well that’s total fiction. Also correcting your continued misinformation isn’t me being emotional it’s just being tired of you lying to make your agenda look better. I’ve never once said Misiorowski should be called up this year. I don’t think he should, but not because he doesn’t throw a curveball good or effective enough because that’s just made up nonsense

    You’re still going with this nonsense? Stop saying his curveball isn’t a good or effective pitch. Here’s a quote from Just Baseball about Misiorowski’s curveball. “The go-to out pitch for the big right-hander is his sweeping curve in the mid 80s. He has a decent feel for it, landing the pitch for a strike just shy of 60% of the time while holding opponents to an OPS below .400. The downward action of the pitch off of his lively fastball makes for a tunneling nightmare for hitters when Misiorowski is able to hit his spots.” Why you’re so insistent that you know more about his pitch mix and the quality of his stuff than the actual professionals is pretty illogical. Edit: Also just because Thyago Vieira throws hard doesn’t mean his stuff is close to as good as Misiorowski. His FB and SL bell are comparable but his pitch shape, release point, and extension are all much worse than Misiorowski.

    157 PA vs RHP and 109 PA vs LHP is now rarely facing RHP I guess.

    Still plenty of time left but rough hitting night so far. Carolina with 2 hits. Wisconsin, Biloxi, and Nashville all with 1 hit.

    Because Brian Anderson plays good 3B defense and Toro is a terrible defensive player. Neither are getting AB so might as well keep the guy who is a good defensive 3B than a guy who sucks everywhere defensively.

    Yeah this just isn’t remotely true. He throws 3 distinct pitches. A FB in the upper 90’s. A slider in the upper 80’s to low 90’s. A curveball in the low to mid 80’s. The slider and curveball have distinct shapes and he throws the curveball far more often than “very seldom”.

    That 2021 draft is looking pretty great (if only we drafted Abbott instead of Smith though). 1. Frelick - already making an impact in the MLB in all aspects of the game Comp-A. Black - Top 100 prospect already in AAA 4. Henderson - Absolutely dominating Low-A after injury issues the last 1.5 years. Has #2 SP upside imo. 5. Murray - 112 wRC+ in 367 AA PA as a solid up the middle infielder 6. Rodriguez - One of the best AA SP as a 21 year old and locked in Top 10 prospect in our system 9. Jordan - Really solid season as a RP in A+ before getting injured last month 10. Clarke - 119 wRC+ in 864 PA as a professional with 41 2B and 38 HR 13. Low - Has shown flashes of extremely high pitcher upside 14. Avina - wRC+ over 120 in nearly 500 PA as a 19/20 year old in A ball That's 9 guys who have shown some form of being legit prospects.

    Misiorowski already throws a curveball and it is a very good pitch.

    I'm still a bit concerned about O'Rae's bat. There's absolutely no pop there and I'm not sure there will ever be any pop there. BUT he just is exceptional at everything else. Amazing plate discipline. Great bat control. Great speed and baserunning instincts. He seems to be a smooth fielder with nice range, but the sample is very small so far. The arm look very weak just like the bat. There's just a lot of good things to work with right now. If he develops any gap power, you have a guy who could be an MLB utility infielder someday.

    There are just so many players in this system having great years. Both ranked and unranked prospects. The best part is it's pretty much all age-appropriate guys performing as well.
