  1. Wow. You saw Crow pitch? I stand down. You're clearly the expert on Coleman Crow!
  2. Yes the Brewers a team who needs to win in the margins because we carry low payrolls giving up quality depth pieces is something that shouldn't just be brushed off like it's nothing. The big picture is this very likely is a precursor to a sell off and 2024 retool year which will make the trade make sense. People like you acting like this trade is a good trade if the idea is to contend next year are the ones who aren't seeing the big picture.
  3. As we so clearly saw in 2023, just writing in rookies as immediate impact players is absolutely a recipe for success. Zero issues.
  4. And Crow has a 40 grade FB that tops out at 91 mph right now. He gets great spin and has good breaking balls but if his FB doesn't tick up he has major reliever risk. He's also coming off TJ and won't be available for most if not all of 2024 then will be Rule 5 eligible again and needing to be protected if he's any good.
  5. Why could Tyrone not have gotten innings in this OF? He literally carried the Brewers offense in the last 6 weeks of the season. I guess if we are hitting a retool/rebuild year like it appears we are then yeah it makes sense to just go with the young players because results don't matter, but if the idea is to contend then Tyrone offers a higher floor than all of our young OF.
  6. Tyrone was in his first year of arbitration not his third. He still has 3 years of team control. Brewers have plenty of players on the 40-man that they could have easily cleared to make room for roster moves. Ethan Small, Clayton Andrews, Vinny Capra, Chris Roller, Jahmai Jones.
  7. Implying Houser was overpaid is wild when guys like Lance Lynn, Kyle Gibson, Erick Fedde are getting over $10M guaranteed. Tyrone is a great 4th OF. He's an awesome pinch hitter, a great defender, an average overall hitter, a good baserunner. You're just underrating those two players who combined for nearly 3 fWAR last year despite both having injury issues. 3 fWAR for a project $7M in 2024 is a bargain.
  8. I mean why did they need to clear any money? Before this trade we were set to open the year with a 26-man payroll $15M lower than last year and $30M lower than 2022. We also have a ton of money coming off the books after 2024. The idea that the Brewers are in a salary crunch is a fallacy.
  9. What would your thoughts be on Burnes + Wiemer/Mitchell for Julien, Festa, and Prielipp.
  10. Mets turned half a season of washed Eduardo Escobar into Landon Marceaux, 1 season of Adrian Houser, and 3 seasons of Tyrone Taylor. That's pretty outstanding work from them.
  11. I don't think that trade makes sense for the Brewers. Brewers will not be contending if we don't get MLB ready pitching back for Burnes, so getting Polanco a short term piece back in this trade doesn't make any sense.
  12. Good joke homer!
  13. You're just making yourself look silly because you clearly don't know the rules.
  14. You very clearly don't know what you're talking about.
  15. I mean I would certainly be annoyed if I was them. They have the money to get guys like these in FA and not pinch pennies.
  16. He wouldn't be on the 26 man roster...he would be on the 60 day IL...
  17. No you're the one who doesn't understand. Crow had TJ mid August. You're looking at around 12 months rehab and could easily be milked for longer. That will likely push the Rule 5 roster time requirement to 2025. Yes he will need to be on the 26 man for 90 days before being optioned in that scenario but he's going to added to be added to the 40-man next offseason either way. So in regards to 40-man flexibility the only difference between Rule 5 and the trade is him being on the 40-man this offseason. In season he will be on the 60 day-IL which will take him off the 40 man. Next offseason he would have been added either way. Edit: Before you say he won't be added to the 40-man next offseason we literally just added Bradley Blalock to the 40-man this year coming off TJ and never having pitched in AA.
  18. You're mixing up 26 man and 40 man flexibility.
  19. We are smaller market than the Rays but we generate more revenue than them because we actually have fans.
  20. The 40 man flexibility talk is just such a reach. The only difference between trading for him and drafting him in the Rule 5 in terms of 40 man flexibility is this offseason. In season he will be on the 60-day IL because of TJ and he will need to be added next offseason to the 40-man to protect him from the Rule 5. So we are talking 3 months difference when we have a bunch of players who can easily be moved off the 40 man.
  21. Steamer also has Rea projected to be Miley. It's clearly not an exact science lol.
  22. As of right now we are probably looking at opening day payroll being down $15M +/- $5M compared to our 2023 opening day 26 man payroll and about $30M lower than our 2022 opening day payroll.
  23. My point is the people who are trying to justify this trade as not a salary dump because the Brewers clearly value Crow a bunch are being ironic. If Brewers clearly valued Crow they would have taken him in the Rule 5 draft. If they just had to get him they wouldn't have taken the chance of someone else selecting him or trading for him in the last 2 weeks.
  24. He wouldn't take up a 40-man roster spot in season because he would be on the 60-day IL...
  25. Yes 90 days on the MLB roster in 2025 before he could be optioned. That's not that difficult. He's going to need to be added to the 40-man roster next offseason already so not sure why this is problematic. We just salary dumped 2 MLB players who combined for almost 3 WAR last year despite injuries because they were set to make $6M combined.
