  1. Mid-week promotion. Don't see those very often anymore unless this was just announced late.
  2. Houser’s FB is nothing special compared to other FB around the league but it allows his other stuff to play better and makes him a bit more unpredictable for the hitter. Burnes absolutely needs to take notice, but I think that’s mostly a lost cause at this point. Even if you go back to 18/19 when Burnes primary FB was a 4 seamer, he wasn’t throwing it up in zone at all. For whatever reason he hates pitching up in the zone and it’s been 6 different seasons worth of him not pitching up. Really just seems like a lost cause.
  3. AA season is split into 2 halves. Enhanced ball is being used the entire first half. Then the AAA/MLB ball in the second half. Believe the halfway point is the last week in June?
  4. Since the All-Star break last season, Corbin Burnes has made 25 starts. He has 145 IP with a 96 ERA- and 96 FIP-. He’s basically been a slightly above league average pitcher for almost an entire season’s worth of starts at this point.
  5. Ride the hot hand with Miller. 1. Miller 2. Yelich 3. Adames 4. Tellez 5. Contreras 6. Anderson 7. Winker 8. Taylor 9. Turang
  6. 10 times out of 10 I would say it would make more sense to do a brief retool than to trade away some higher level prospects in an attempt to help this years team.
  7. I'm sorry..right shoulder??
  8. Yeah I have been saying this for a while. His OBP is highly overrated because he's such a terrible baserunner. He's the definition of station to station as a runner. Generally speaking to score him from 1st you would need 3 singles, a double+single, or a HR.
  9. Also should be taken into consideration that Tyrone basically did not have a spring training so him getting off to a slow start isn't at all shocking. Plus if he was performing up to his xwOBA he would have like an 80 wRC+ (which isn't great but but with his defense and base stealing is easy an above average player).
  10. Curious as to your thinking behind Guilarte as the best pure hitter in the system right now. Surely it's an eye test thing because the stats don't exactly scream pure hitter. Since coming stateside, he has a 22% K-rate between ACL and A ball with a 60% ground ball rate.
  11. Also our 2-6 in the bullpen are racking up a ridiculous amount of IP right now. We can't afford to keep a guy like Varland who can't eat innings or spot fill a leverage/middle relief inning from the other guys. This is the IP pace our 2-6 are on. Wilson - 83 IP Payamps - 81 IP Peguero - 77 IP (counting his AAA innings) Strzelecki - 75 IP Milner - 70 IP That's just not a sustainable burden to put on your middle relief/non-closer leverage guys. They cannot keep pitching this many innings all season. Brewers need to use those 7th/8th spots for shuttle guys to try and find another Peguero who can stick in the bullpen. Varland being a Rule 5 guy prevents that shuttle from churning.
  12. His rehab assignment was originally supposed to be 2 games at A+. He pitched so terribly during those games that they sent him to AAA instead of calling him back to the MLB. Of the 431 pitchers with at least 25 batted ball events this is where those numbers would stand. xwOBA - 431st xERA - 431st Avg EV - 430th Hard hit % - 419th Barrel % - 422nd Of 442 pitchers with at least 8 IP this is where his ERA, FIP, xFIP, K%, BB% K-BB%, WHIP would stand. ERA - 438th FIP - 441st xFIP - 429th K% - 427th BB% - 412th K-BB% - 432nd WHIP - 441st He was legitimately one of if not the worst pitchers in the MLB this season. One bad game like yesterday isn't going to make all those numbers so bad.
  13. He was also completely terrible his entire rehab assignment. In 14.1 IP between the MLB, AAA and A+ he had an 11.3 ERA.
  14. His peripheral numbers were awful long before yesterday. That 2.25 ERA was very fake and he was getting extremely lucky.
  15. Yeah our leverage bullpen hasn’t been a problem since Bush was put on the IL. The low leverage guys have been brutal though. Varland, Guerra, Bush combine for 17% of our bullpen’s IP and 40% of the ER. There are 18 RP with 7+ IP and and 8+ ERA and the Brewers have 3 of them.
  16. He goes back to the Dodgers (not with a 40-man spot) if nobody claims him.
  17. The good news is he's still way underperforming his peripheral numbers at the plate so the offense ticking up is easily an option
  18. His hitting needs to tick up to maintain that pace because LF basically never have positive defensive value at the end of the season.
  19. His max throw this year was 95.3 according to Savant. The last 3 years his max was 88.1, he must physically be feeling better than he has in quite a while.
  20. He stayed in the game at LF for the first 3 batters the next inning before being pulled. It's probably something that will keep him out for a bit, but it didn't look like anything too serious.
  21. Came up limping while in a run down. Think it's a lower left leg injury if I had to guess.
  22. Pretty sure Darin Ruf is a FA. Might be worth spinning the wheels on him to see if he can just hit LHP for us.
  23. I have seen you cite this multiple times. Is this based off a study somewhere on performance post neck surgery or is it just an assumption on your part because it being statistically true would be a welcomed sight.
  24. Winker has some pretty alarming trends from 2021 to 2023. He was hurt last year which could explain some of his problems. He is supposed to be healthy now but those trends have continued downwards. The most alarming trend to me is his trend against Fastballs. His xwOBA against FB has completely fallen off a cliff since peaking in 2021. That trend line looks like a guy who just can't keep up against velocity anymore.
