  1. By ERA yes but Hader’s worst outing was after he was temporarily demoted from high leverage. Rogers put up -1.02 WPA for the Brewers. Hader put up -0.24 WPA for the Padres. Maybe Hader doesn’t get temporarily demoted/shut down if he stayed in Milwaukee so his WPA gets worse, but Rogers was worse than Hader in leverage spots after the trade.
  2. Actually pretty happy the Pirates took Skenes. We can see Skenes at most 4 times a season compared to 13 times a season against a position player
  3. Actually super thankful the Pirates drafted Skenes. SP in division might only hurt us 2-3 times a year. An OF could hurt us 10 times a year.
  4. You can get a blown save in the 6th inning hence "save opportunities". 6th inning with a 1-3 run lead is still high leverage.
  5. Brewers have had save situations in 12 of their last 15 games with only one off day in that time…when are these abundance of game situations where non-leverage relievers could have pitched?
  6. Where’s the 2011 team on that list that they constantly get compared to? I’m struggling to find it.
  7. Yeah I really hope we can snag Davis. Think he offers the best blend of floor/ceiling with the bat out of the college guys potentially in our range.
  8. Honestly as long as we don't take Jacob Wilson or Bradfield at 18, I could convince myself into liking pretty much anyone.
  9. I didn’t see anything going back and watching the hit. Didn’t see a trainer come out or anything either.
  10. Weird comparison as they weren’t even drafted in the same draft. Abbott was drafted in 2021, 2 picks after Russell Smith not Zamora who was drafted in 2020.
  11. Minnesota has to absolutely be kicking themselves for that Mahle trade. 1.5 seasons of Mahle (tore his UCL so they only got the 0.5 seasons) and they gave up Steer, Encarnacion-Strand, and I think a minor league pitcher. Steer is having a great season and CES is destroying AAA. That trade is going to age quite terrible for the Twins.
  12. If you go to the team stats page on Fangraphs and toggle to win probability that’s where you can see the WPA, SD/MD and leverage type numbers. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=0&type=3&season=2023&month=0&season1=2023&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=2023-01-01&enddate=2023-12-31
  13. Hader's numbers are wrong. You aren't including last season's numbers, but this trade is a win for the Brewers. We ended up getting Gasser, Contreras, Payamps, And Yeager for 1 year and 2 months of Hader, a 3 out RP. Gasser had some early season command issues but has been incredible over the last 6-7 starts. Contreras is a well above average catcher with 5 years of control. Payamps has been a very dependable high leverage RP with 3 years of control. Yeager is a minor league RP who has intriguing stuff. Did the trade have some locker room impact last season? Yes, but I am still hesitant to say it's the reason we missed the playoffs considering we played basically the same level baseball from June 1st to the end of the season. Our high leverage bullpen has been the best in baseball this season. Leads in WPA. 1st in SD:MD ratio.
  14. Why are you continuing to compare the 2011 team to a team that is 14 games under .500 on July 1st and has one of the worst pitching staffs in the MLB?
  15. The Cardinals suck dude. They have zero intent on actually winning at this point and trotting a completely washed Wainwright out there every 5 days so he can get to 200 wins is all the evidence needed to prove they have no intent on winning at this point.
  16. Tapia also seems like an easy DFA candidate when Taylor is ready again or Frelick gets the call.
  17. Yelich is on pace for a 5 fWAR season. That's well outperforming his contract, so no we don't need even more.
  18. Oh wow.
  19. I feel like I’ve heard nothing about Tyrone since he went back on the IL. I know he got a second PRP injection but have heard nothing about timelines. Feel like he could definitely be pushed to the 60-day.
  20. Feel like concern over the Cape performance is probably less wood bat related and more small college struggling against better competition on the Cape. I agree with you that any concern is probably overstated
  21. I’d rather they get hot and start winning but I think the most realistic situation is they just continue to get by for the next month and are in a weird spot of buy/sell. I just think there’s too many holes to fill. RF, DH, 1B, 2B are all among the worst in the league this year offensively and I don’t think we can get 4 good hitters through the trade market. Leads me to thinking selling is probably the best option for this team because let’s be real does anyone think this team could score enough in the postseason to make a run?
  22. Alex Jensen from ProspectsLive was raving about Jesus Rivero last week. Here's the tweets.
