  1. There was a wild pitch in the Voit AB. That's a run right there. Also you're in here once again defending the ump when his calls gifted the Diamondbacks a 1.5 expected run advantage against lmao.
  2. What’s worse is it wasn’t consistent. Miley put two cutters just off the inside corner against Marte where Gallen was getting strikes all game and the ump didn’t call either of them strikes. Christian Walker hit a 2-out, 2-run HR later that inning. That HR doesn’t happen if Miley got the same extra 2-3 inches off the inside edge against RHH that Gallen got.
  3. Yeah rough day for me to make that comment with how Adames looked tonight.
  4. Hopefully Burnes actually shows up.
  5. If you think the calls the Brewers got were as impactful as the one's Gallen got then I don't know what to tell you. I get it you feel the need to be contrarian and defend umps, but acting like Gallen and the DBacks weren't huge benefactors from this ump tonight then you're hopeless.
  6. You don't think the ump's horrendous strike zone has forced the Brewers players to expand their zones? Gallen's curveball has 50+ inches of vertical break. When guys have no clue what is going to be called a strike it leads to chasing crap in the dirt. Brewers weren't chasing anything egregious until that second inning when Gallen's strike zone was as big as the Grand Canyon.
  7. None of those errors led to runs so pretty sure that has nothing to do with the score being 3-0.
  8. We are down 3-0 because when Gallen had no clue where his stuff was going, the ump bailed him out with countless terrible strike calls. That settled Gallen down and allowed him to go 7 innings when his pitch count should have been around 55 through 2 innings.
  9. Gallen had no command at the start of this game and the ump totally bailed him out of getting into trouble. Gallen then gets time to find his command and now went 7 scoreless. Bad umps just have way too significant of an impact on the game.
  10. No. They look just as terrible on savant and gameday.
  11. Keep in mind that inning would have been over if Miley got the same strike zone as Gallen in the Marte walk
  12. Miley's were even better because they were breaking from strike to ball. Gallen's started balls and ended balls.
  13. The rule is hitters eyes have to be up. Longoria's eyes were up.
  14. Gallen's curveball is averaging 53 inches of vertical break tonight. With how huge Gallen's strike zone has been, basically impossible for our guys to lay off those curveballs low.
  15. Voit has a career 129 wRC+ against RHP and had a 116 wRC+ against RHP last year. Counsell probably just liked the matchup better for Voit.
  16. I'd still say Adames is our most talented defender. Elite defensive SS with a plus arm. Turang and Wiemer have looked really good. Mitchell to me is the worst of the 4 defensively. Not that he isn't good. Just doesn't seem as fluid as those 3.
  17. Well this isn't true. We put up 5 runs in 4 innings against David Peterson in the final game of the Mets series.
  18. Far too soon to even think about something like this. Will have a much better grasp when we get closer and have a clearer picture on roster weaknesses and injury issues.
  19. The lack of strikeouts and whiffs by the bullpen has surprised me. They have for the most part done a very good job creating weak contact but the lack of whiffs and strikeouts is somewhat concerning. Their 17.8% K-rate is 26th among MLB bullpens. Their 10.9% BB-rate is 24th. The 7% K-BB rate is 28th. They are 1st in average EV at 84.5. They are 2nd in barrel rate at 2.2%. They are 1st in hard-hit rate at 28.9%. Just difficult to get a read on them up to this point. Hopefully we start seeing some more whiffs and strikeouts going forward without a huge sacrifice to the quality of contact against.
  20. I think Gallen has been a bit unlucky. He has a .311 xwOBA this year compared to a .370 wOBA. His xERA of 4.0 isn't great but much better than his actual 7.59 ERA. Plus the pitch modeling numbers still like him this year.
  21. This will be a tough game. Gallen is easily the best pitcher on the DBacks and he has had success against us in the past. Through 10.2 innings, his pitch model numbers look good 110 stuff+, 106 location+, 107 pitching+. Win this one and our odds at taking the series will be very favorable.
  22. Yeah the catcher was barking at Cruz about the slide being really late. It ended up being bad for Cruz, but it easily could have gone the other way and injured the catcher. You could hear the catcher say "What the f*ck was that". If you rewatch the play, Cruz was running towards the inside part of the plate despite starting outside the line. He likely did this to make the throw home from third more difficult but the catcher wasn't blocking the outside edge of the plate. Cruz could have easily stayed outside and slipped a hand in and this all would have been avoided.
  23. I think part of the issue is he moved closer to fair territory in an attempt to make the throw home more difficult. The outside of the plate was open for a slide but he slid towards the inside of the plate and additionally slid late as well.
  24. I wasn't at the game, but I saw quite a few people on twitter say they saw people get the jersey and immediately leave. I also saw some of the jerseys have already made it to eBay and are being listed at ridiculous prices.
  25. 10 changeups to 9 FB today and the FB was back to about a 93 mph average. Great bounceback from him today.
