  1. I saw a clip of Cam Schlittler in A ball as a 22 year old a few days ago and it was not impressive. 3 years later he looks like one of the best pitchers in MLB. These teenage pitching prospects have such a long runway to go and pitching prospects feel so much more likely to come out of nowhere and be good than hitting prospects do.
  2. Zerpa has TJ surgery announced today and Collins is 3-3 with a 2B and HR to bring up him up a 114 wRC+. That's a real gut punch.
  3. My San Jose Sharks just jumped up to #2 in the lottery. Deserved for me after the Brewers game got postponed.
  4. Of course instead of the doubleheader being tomorrow when there's no rain being projected the doubleheader is in July when the Brewers are in the midst of a 17 in 17 stretch making it 18 in 17.
  5. That's the outside of the plate for a right handed hitter
  6. I know it’s only 103 PA but 41 strikeouts and below 60% contact rate for a 1st round pick who was supposed to be a fast mover is becoming a legit concern for me with Fischer. It’s still a relatively small sample but if your swing is being exposed in A+ like this then how are you going to look in AA or higher?
  7. Sounds like he’s fine and has been okay since it happened but they are still trying to figure out what happened. I think he was scheduled to see a neurologist yesterday. I think they are just proceeding with extreme caution.
  8. It’s a combo of no humidor for minor league games and the ball carries really well in the dry Arizona air. Looking at ST this year there was a 98.2 EV, 425ft HR in Arizona
  9. Bat speed readings look pretty inconsistent so not sure how accurate they are but Frias had a 78.7mph swing and Hughes had a 76.1mph swing.
  10. Holden has a pretty nice pitch mix for such a young guy. Four distinct shapes with two clear breaking ball shapes that he threw pretty consistently. I’m intrigued.
  11. Probably didn’t end up mattering but I hated that decision from Murphy. Patrick was battling his command all game. His first pitch strike rate was 50% through the first two times in the order. Intentionally walking the bases loaded immediately felt like something that would backfire.
  12. Feel like Ragsdale is more likely to get promoted in the next month or so than Payne is if we are talking A+ OF.
  13. Chourio and Vaughn were both activated off the IL today. Priester was removed from his rehab assignment so he's still a long way off from returning I'd guess.
  14. Hogg just said he wouldn't anticipate Pratt being called up
  15. That's just online speculation because Pratt was late scratched in AAA yesterday. Could happen. If I had to guess, I'd say it's just a coincidence and Pratt isn't being called up.
  16. I'll take it a step further. I bet they wouldn't have even gotten a hit and maybe not even a baserunner if he didn't slip there. Though I still think Henderson would have been pulled after 6 innings.
  17. I’d like to see Damon Keith get bumped up to AAA. He’s almost 26 and has 752 PA at the AA level.
  18. No that’s not what you initially said. You said Mitchell and Frelick need to pick it up. You didn’t start talking about his strikeout rate until after you were corrected that Mitchell has been an above average hitter on the year. You keep moving the goalposts every time someone points out facts. Nobody thinks Mitchell’s K-rate is in a good spot. Everyone wants it to improve. Despite that K-rate he’s still been an above average hitter.
  19. Resorting to hyperbole because people responded to your retorts with facts is a bit much, no? Nobody said he was Aaron Judge. In fact I said he’s been an above average hitter because that’s what he’s been. He’s played in the second most games and is 5th PA despite Murphy openly saying they are giving him periodic days off to try and keep him healthy.
  20. Yeah Mitchell the guy who leads the team in RE24 needs to be more productive. If you don’t know what RE24 is it is runs above average based on the 24 base/out scenarios so Mitchell has been extremely productive this year factoring in the base/out scenarios when he comes to the plate. No the strikeout rate is not ideal but that doesn’t mean he’s been a bad hitter who needs to pick it up. The strikeout rate is one component of a hitter. You can have a high K-rate and be a very good hitter. You can also have a low K-rate and be a bad hitter because it’s one singular stat that makes up a hitter
  21. That’s one component of hitting. The same way using only batting average to evaluate a hitter is a bad idea, using only K% is also a bad idea. Mitchell has been an above average hitter so far this year so the idea he needs to pick it up doesn’t make much sense.
  22. I feel like it might go underappreciated what the Brewers SP did in this series. Only 28 pitchers have started a single MLB game this year that are 24 years old or younger. The Brewers just had a series where all 3 of their starters were 24 years old. They combined to go 17.1 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 21 SO in the series and if it weren't for a cramp and a pitcher slipping it might have been even more special.
  23. Mitchell has a 115 wRC+. He's been 15% better than a league average hitter.
  24. Haven't watched but seems like Letson's command issues have continued into today. 3 BB and 2 HBP through 4 innings.
  25. The Reds easily have the worst lineup in the division. Outside of like 3 hitters their lineup is horrible.
