  1. So everyone in agreement that every other Brewers OF makes the catch that Hicklen didn't? Looked like Hunter Renfroe out there
  2. That's also a really good thought. His changeup has looked so good this season. My only concern there is that his changeup is a harder changeup, so I feel like the sinker and changeup could blend together quite a bit like his slider and curveball have tendency to do at times. Honestly Freddy is just a bit of a weird pitcher. Tinkers with his stuff a lot.
  3. Great article @Jack Stern. I was kind of curious if you think Freddy Peralta could benefit from introducing a cutter this offseason. Seems his FB and Slider effectiveness have kind of steadily dropped over the last couple of years. Could a cutter be a good bridge pitch to connect the slider and FB more?
  4. The Cardinals' TV call of the Chourio HR was absolutely hilarious. Right before the pitch the announcer asks if the pitcher can pitch out of a mess of his own making then immediately into the answer is no and 20 seconds of absolute silence https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sporty-videos?playId=1c1eb350-ae0b-4759-aefa-a91d7f31e169&videoType=AWAY
  5. Not at all a given. Many predicted sub .500 year. I myself predicted 81-81 if I remember correctly.
  6. Braves, Giants, Dodgers, Padres
  7. Dansby Swanson has 8.0 fWAR through nearly 2 seasons as a Cub. He's performing up to his contract so far.
  8. Where the foot is when the ball hits the glove doesn't matter. It's based on when the ball enters the glove which would be before the ball hits. If Frelick's foot hit the base simultaneously with the ball hitting the glove then he was 100% out.
  9. I don't know. I'm pretty nervous. 0.1% is scary!
  10. Justin Steele getting scratched tomorrow due to elbow soreness
  11. I really think it will come down to if teams think the defensive falloff this year is an aberration or a sign of things to come. That could hugely impact the quality of offers he gets.
  12. Looks like he maxed out at 57 pitches and 4 innings in his rehab assignment, so probably a short start. Edit: Nevermind most of that was from earlier in the year. Must have gotten re-injured while on rehab. He's only had 1 rehab start going 2.2 innings with 50 pitches, so definitely a short start.
  13. Another fun Chourio comparison. Ryan Braun rookie year (debuted 5/25) - .324/.370/.634, 155 wRC+, 6% BB-rate, 23% K-rate Chourio since 5/25 - .314/.361/.527, 144 wRC+, 6% BB-rate, 16% K-rate Chourio is 3 years younger than rookie Ryan Braun
  14. There was some talk yesterday and honestly just a lot of talk that MLB players don't shorten their swing with 2 strikes and for some that is absolutely true, but on average MLB players clearly shorten their swing. I get that there are a lot of strikeouts but MLB pitching is also better than it's ever been, so instead of always blaming the hitters for that we could acknowledge how good pitchers have gotten.
  15. One last rodeo. What are everyone's September record predictions and do the Brewers finish with a Top 2 seed and 1st round bye? Here's the schedule: 1 @ CIN 3 vs STL 3 vs COL 3 @ SF 3 @ AZ 3 vs PHI 4 vs AZ 3 @ PIT 3 vs NYM Personally I am going 15-11 with the Brewers unfortunately missing out on the 2 seed due to the Phillies obtaining the tiebreaker over us.
  16. Going into June 1st, Chourio was last on the Brewers with -1.36 WPA. After today's game he's 3rd on the Brewers in WPA with 1.24 only 0.11 WPA behind William for 2nd. RIP Yelich who is far and away 1st with 2.71 WPA. Here's a fun comparison. Yelich this year - 372 PA, 152 wRC+, 3.0 fWAR, 2.72 WPA Chourio since June 1st - 289 PA, 148 wRC+, 3.1 fWAR, 2.70 WPA Chourio has basically been 2024 Christian Yelich since June 1st.

  18. Just want to say it again. Get Bryse Wilson off the roster. He now hasn't pitched in a week despite having a doubleheader during that week. A total waste of a roster spot who Murphy doesn't trust unless we are losing by like 3+ runs or winning by 6+. Ross can be a longman and we can bring Peguero or Mis/Yoho up considering they will actually be allowed to pitch.
  19. Williams was absolutely lights out until Murphy let him throw 30+ pitches on a back to back in St. Louis. He has been extremely shaky since then. Feels like Murphy is going to run him into the ground despite our 10 game division lead.
  20. Kind of funny. There was an older fan on BCB who basically never posts but he said earlier this week that he hasn't seen wrists as good as Chourio's since watching Aaron when he was a kid.
  21. Probably helps that he has the fastest hands/wrists on the team at least by my eyes. Just ridiculous natural talent.
  22. Braunie was also 23 as a rookie
