Just for evidence of how bleak the Biloxi lineup is today.
Players over .800 OPS - 1
Players over .700 OPS - 2
Players over .650 OPS - 3
Players over .600 OPS - 4
Over half the dang lineup has an OPS below .600.
Here's kind of a dumb/fun baseball theory question.
Would the Brewers be more likely to win giving up a run here going into the 9th down 4-0 facing Fernandez or going into the 9th down 3-0 facing Helsley?
Obviously if Fernandez has issues they would bring Helsley in but feels like they would honestly have a better chance winning heading into the 9th down 4-0.
That game in May still annoys me. Mikolas was over 40 pitches in the 1st and was probably 1 batter away from being knocked out of the game and Lane windmilled at 3B leading to an out at home. Mikolas then proceeded to throw 6 innings in the game.
I honestly don't know what Contreras is looking at behind the plate when it comes to his pitch calls. Arenado was late on every FB he swung at that inning, has been absolutely dreadful against 98+mph FB this year, and has absolutely crushed curveballs this year. Why on earth are you calling a curveball there? Yeah Megill hung it and that's on him, but I have serious question marks about his pitch calling.
Biloxi is unfortunately back to their mid first half form. Time to break the CF camera so I have no interest in watching this quote on quote baseball being played in Biloxi.
Dinges leads off the bottom of the 3rd with 108 EV line drive double to the wall in LF. He's definitely flashing some raw power in his first two professional games
Definitely possible. Jesus Flores and Jesus Broca have both pitched in both the DSL and Carolina in 2024 so he wouldn't be the first. Plus Torres clearly still has innings to pitch with his season total at only 15 innings.
I know some have been pining for Wande Torres info based on his numbers and looks like Brewers PD and @Spencer Michaelis have delivered. BrewersPD seems to confirm Wande Torres was brought stateside post DSL season. 95-97 with that arm angle seems like about as good of a chance of being an MLB RP someday as any pitcher leaving the DSL.
I really hated the double up on the high FB there. Carpenter was all timed up on the first FB just underneath it. Clearly hunting the FB up. Mears didn’t get it outside like Contreras wanted but it was further up than the first pitch. Didn’t help that Mears FB wasn’t as sharp as normal either in terms of velo and movement.
Think this is more about a somewhat growing concern of mine not loving Contreras situational pitch calling
You guys have the magic number wrong. It's 25. Cards and Cubs both have 64 losses, so their max win total is 98. Brewers have the tiebreaker over both teams so the Brewers need to get to 98 wins to guarantee the division. Brewers have 73 wins so the magic number is actuallly 25 not 26.
That was Friday. He started the game Friday that was suspended due to rain and when it restarted on Saturday he was replaced by Acosta, so now 3 games and 4 days in a row without playing.
No people crucified Boras because it was reported multiple of his clients turned down more guaranteed term and money and got stuck with short term deals with more AAV. Montgomery is rumored to have fired Boras over this. Boras won't get the last laugh when Bellinger ends up making less over the next half decade because he didn't sign a longer-term deal last offseason.
