  1. Im not quite sure Kaepernick and Bauer should be mentioned in the same sentence
  2. Is it in any way fair to compare Chourio to Singleton when one is 18 and one is 20? I'd also point out Chourios numbers at Wisconsin were exceptional especially considering the BABIP at least 50 points lower than I'd expect of a speedster in high A Obviously he needs to keep developing but all the scouts are talking about his swing, the exit velos for a guy his size, and it seems very mookie like/ rodriguez like. Obviously time will tell, but if he fills out that frame at all, and can develop slightly to cover the pitch away a bit better, watch out, Big time
  3. In fairness, there's been a bit more discrepancy in the reports about Frelicks defense, and Mitchell, barr one play, looked really really acomplished out there. At least with him there was a floor, plus although I think he's risky and unlikely to be as good as Frelick, h does provide a certain buzz with his speed, defense, and some clutch moments. Like I'm never quite sure what'll happen in his AB
  4. I think if you're talking pure value in terms of trade values and what you'd get in a return, Burnes, Woodruff and Peralta are top of the list (Peralta because of his team friendly deal) Chourio could be in that group and was suggested he'd have been 1-1 in this years draft, comfortably by Keith Law Adames would be next at Number 5, and comfortably so Urias may be 6 due to his contract and + Offensive bat, plus he's a quality defender 7-10 take your pick
  5. Was also just put in the all prospect defensive team for the coming year at 2B, seems rated very highly there. Is he committing an unusual number of errors atm? 4/32 seems large
  6. Kim was 3.7 WAR but definitely played up a little, and I dont think he'll have another season like that, plus the bats poor. I'd say if you want premium defense and a stable 2 WAR you'll probably get that from Turang, who I'd imagine will put up similar numbers
  7. He was, but from looking at the boards, he wasnt as a teenager. There a re a lot of failed top 10 prospects, many of whom are glove first prospects. Chrsitan Pache being one, but it seems top 10 prospects still developing in their teens have a fairly consistent track record of coming up and dominating
  8. Thats from me reading in my usual date format of 3/11/2004 as the 3rd November 2004! Oops, guessing its the american way of 11th march? Maybe Tatis is a favourable comp in some ways given he's had extreme power and slightly prone to a strike out, though can his CF defense be a significant factor too? The problem is, with all they hype, whether he would take that deal. A lot of these team friendly deals prey on players who are scared of having career ruined and that old adage "never turn down your first paycheck" but for instance Tatis did sign after a year/2 and look at the deal he got. Maybe a Wander Franco style deal is in the offing, but we'll see. I've a feeling they may need to do so early or he could be out of their price range I think this is possible, in part due to the fact he'll be debuting quite young and therefore should have a lot of baseball ahead of him. If brewers had him through age 29 season he'd still have the ability for a massive payday at the end of that while Crew get 8 or so years
  9. If true they'll need to try within few months. But let's be clear it's quite possible it doesn't come to fruition too. Could very easily have given Keaton a big deal when he first came up after that big season
  10. Perkins is a filler who's likely to not be wanted to start many games at all Winker is a defensive liability for emergencies/rotating yelich So Taylor + yelich + rookies, I'd want a third competent outfielder so the pressure isn't all on the rookies, and maybe allow service time manipulation

  12. Santander for Houser would also be a fairly even trade... Orioles could do with some pitching and Brewers may need a right handed hitter and RF to avoid putting all the pressure on the rookies to instantly perform I really like Weimer but unsure if he'll instantly adapt to ML pitching)

  14. If the pirates got a serviceable pitcher that would be a great start for them, and needed Reynolds may demand Eury Perez though given his service time

  18. So i;ve done a little digging as a newbie and seeing people say "wow he's so good for 18" that i thought I'd see the history and outcomes of recent top 10 Prospects that were under 20 years old (Currently ranking Jackson chourio at No. 5, and will be 19 for the coming season) First point of reference I found was in 2020's opening list on fangraphs 1- Wander Franco at 19 9- Julio Rodriguez at 19 2019 1- Vlad Guerrero Jr at 19 2- Wander Franco at 18 6 - Royce Lewis at 19 (Injuries have stalled him big time but stilled got ZiPS projections of a 126 WRC+ this coming year) 2018 3- Vlad Guerrero Jr (18) 5- Fernando Tatis Jr (19) - Also in his Age 19 year, went from hitting a 910 OPS in A Ball to a 600 OPS in 14 games at AA, and SO at 38% clip in his first month there 9- Bo Bichette (19) Can't obtain age data past this easily, but shows the calibre of player being talked about, and the impact made by recent players in this age range who have been seen so highly. I was surprised that each of these names, barring injury, made a huge impact on their teams Given his biggest workons are (from what I've read) seeing more pitches, particular sliders dipping away from him, physical development (immense power currently for his size) and just continuing to gain experience, it's very possible that the Brewers have a true perennial top 5/10 MvP based on the above players.
  19. https://sports.mynorthwest.com/1680271/whats-going-on-jesse-winker-mariners/ Found this very interesting Goes some way to explaining a bad attitude but also I kinda feel for him, because everyone preps differently and if he just turns up to play baseball and that keeps him in the fun side of things and performing well, he's just right. No one cares if you're performing well, but if you're struggling then the eyes turn, and I wonder if a bit more vet presence on the Brewers can rally around him a bit and make him feel more part of the team? Hoping the contract year helps him a bit too, and there's some give back from him as clubhouse is pretty important to the crew as well. Tbh i think its very possible the guy was struggling and depressed, and a bit pissy because of it but this year will see
  20. Marlins have signed Jonny Cueto so maybe adds to the likelihood of a trade, if not now then mid season (they'd maybe get better value at that point with the added desperation)

  22. I think if you were to Trade Burnes, you'd need a top level pitching prospect coming back, or so the Brewers would look for. Its not especially deep at farm level unless Misiorowski really fires Blue Jays They could be a good trade partner as they are looking to compete hard and now, and could give up their top prosepcts more easily than say a Baltimore would I dont think there's any way the Blue Jays suggestion happens, as Manoah due to control and his performance last season would be far more valuable than Burnes right now alone, never mind with a top prospect like Tiedemann. I feel maybe a better trade would be for Tiedemeann, Juenger and maybe Cade Doughty? Astros Hunter Brown did perform well at AAA last year as well as in the bigs, so may have unlocked something given previous seasons had him closer to 4 ERA in the lower minors. I think if the brewers were to accept this (and again i think Astros may be open to a trade to make use of the likes of Bregman, Alvarez, etc as best as possible) they'd need a little more heft behind it, maybe in the form of potential high ceiling of Drew Gilbert along with it and maybe another long shot attached Tampa Bay Rays Given their business model I'm not sure I can see this happening and would probably back their pitching development to make use of their farm system to develop better value than Burnes arby years, and already have 2 aces in Glasnow and McLanaghan Baltimore Orioles They'll likely back Grayson Rodriguez to hit his ceiling, rather than trade him and he'd need to be a focal point of the deal so can't see this happening. They've a young squad and dont have that " we need to win now" mentality Other options Dodgers Could get some quality bats from their farm but I dont think their pitchers bring enough upside. They would likely be keen however given they could do with a boost to their rotation, and maybe although Bobby Miller is no sure thing, could centre a trade around him or Gavin Stone actually (how is stone rated so low in their system) and add in Vargas/Busch or Pepiot. This trade actually makes a lot of sense for both teams given the Dodgers current division and battle with the padres/desire to win against the big spenders in NL East, and Brewers look for control of pitchers with starting potential Giants Desperate for a big name, would maybe need Kyle Harrison and Marco Luciano, would they do this trade? I actually quite like the look of it, and as I said the Giants are looking to placate the fan base and maybe offer Burnes an instant contract extension. Brewers get back a potential quality TOR (More Like MR) starting pitcher and high end SS/3B with a strong arm Rangers Was looking at entirely pitching absed as the Rangers will want to improve their lineup and I'd imagine even for Burnes they see Josh Jung as important enough to them, but a potnetial trade for Brock Poter, Owen White and Jack Leiter, I'd be curious if they took it. Again very much in win now mode due to their big signing and contracts of Semien, Seager & DeGrom, could get more from them than other smaller teams Finally Phillies Another team in Win Now mode, and would love a top 3 of Wheeler, Burnes & Nola, especially in the divison they're in and with the BP they have, pitching would be a huge strength. Andrew Painter is a very promising pitcher, and maybe a trade involving him, Mick Abel & Eric Miller would be a suitable return When you think about it too, very possible with 7 starters that a Burnes trade is in the offing Thoughts?
  23. Are there any really really hot prospects in the international draft this year? And the brewers rumoured signings, is there much info on them?
  24. Always interesting to look down the list I'm surprised Jordan Walker didnt get more of the vote with his potential but Carroll is clear front runner in the NL, he looked really really promising at the end of last year. I dont think Alvarez will be as high up due to his lack of catching ability Also didnt think Elly de la cruz was as high given he's currently never played above AA, and Reds will almost certainly be attempting to avoid super 2
  25. Its interesting how recently the Red Sox, whilst never being truly bad, have been either very competitive or very meh on a year to year basis Whereas in brewers division, you can be mediocre + and reach the playoffs, that just isnt the case in the AL east at the moment with the star power in that league, probably has something to do with it But wouldn't we all
