  1. This seems much better, I actually think the projections for them look much more sound and understandbale though i did like the 80/20 on ZiPS. Interesting to see what they feel a high limit of a good year for Adames is and set us dreamers off
  2. His last game is interesting... I;d heard he was developing a splitter that actually looked like a quality pitch, and even 4 seam/split could be really effective out of the bullpen, maybe in longer stints. Has he got options?
  3. It has Joey Weimer getting 510 PA's wit a proj line of 216/288/375, though it does have him with a 7 Defensive mark Cant see him getting that many with a line like that tbh, more likely TT gets an increase on his proj 390 PA's Also seems quite high on the likes of Toro which i find interesting Pitching wise, Ashby getting only 100 ish innings is a surprise, but it shows that of top 5 starters, Lauer is likely to have lowest ERA? Also Luke Barker, what do we know of him? An ERA+ of 106 isnt too shabby at all... although have also got Luis perdomo at a 110 ERA+ so a bit questionable there perhaps
  4. I think if anyone was traded from the brewers rotation they'd be looking a potential SP to develop back So a Lauer may command someone like Owen White from the rangers for instance
  5. Those stats are nuts, even if the pitching is a lil whack Any info on if a guy going 735 OPS in the minors at A/AA translating to a 399/461/665 Line is normal for Indy ball? To put it in a little perspective, the Missouri Paddelehads had a 0.713 record while conceding on average 6 runs per game
  6. So given the incentives based portion of Miley's contract, It seems fairly clear that he's intended to be a regular starter, at which point you wonder which of Ashby/Houser go to the pen, and I actually think it's a fairly simple answer here Ashby has shown an elite ceiling potential if he can improve on his 2 strike counts, particularly by using more than just his slider (55% usage), he got absolutely mashed in this count last year. He gets the same weak contact as Houser with greater strikeout potential, is younger, more upside and has an actual reason for his volatility (ie first full season) Houser was really really poor last season, and despite having one of the best two seamers in the game for GB rate, he could be a much better use for multi innings/piggy back with ashby, but I think, given the contract given to Ashby, that the brewers would rather see him develop as a starter this year, with Houser coming into rotation as and when needed per injuries This is a really good signing for the crew, and if Miley can stay healthy, has been a really solid pitcher and will bring some real vet level experience to the club house and the rotation, vital for players like Ashby I still think given last year, I wouldnt want Adames alone to be the heart of the clubhouse, and maybe an Escobar level signing for the position players coming through would be a massive boost and give them time to find their feet at this level. Might have to see if Correa deal goes through, but I really like this signing and Houser has shown a really good multi inning relief player so an upgrade on Suter there for sure
  7. So do you think he's worth more than Swanson? I'd certainly say slightly below Swanson is comparable

  9. There was a rumour from "the guy" of info for inside the red sox (think there's another post) that apparently before Mariners trade, Mark Attanasio stepped in and pulled the plug ona potential deal with the red sox for prospects Should've been more specific!
  10. Could part of this also be a leverage in that the Red Sox fans will bay for blood if Bogaerts, Devers & Betts all left? Surely they need at least one marquee player? I think for Adames a better comp is the swanson deal, and probably can pay slightly less than this given Swansons performed slightly ahead of Adames last few years, plus 2 Arby years, may be able to get something in the way of 7/8 for 20 per year AAV He's projected to get $9.2m in 23 and $14m in 24, and could maybe do something like 6 years at 23-25 Millions for following years, so a gross contract of 9 + 14 + (24*6) could be a contact of around 8 years $167 Million? I think anything between 160-167 Is acceptable, aprticularly given he's a high energy dude, brings stuff off field and an athletic defender with a Bat that underperformed average wise last year, and I think he's expecting to hit for more Average next few years... He actually did much better in this regard second half of the season, but his eye is troubling with a 5% walk rate post All start break Maybe second thought, a $155 or so is a better fit with that, unless he shows a better eye at the plate

  12. One thing I'd say is the brewers, per Forbes, Made 29 million dollars last year, a net profit of 10.8%. Which is totally acceptable as an owner, and doesnt include drawings from the owner I dont think that means he's an absolute cheapskate, and maybe keeping money if there's no point spending it for a very slight difference (ie for 0.2 WAR you wouldnt spend 10 Million) then maybe it is the better policy and use it for spending by the trade deadline as issues arise The brewers have s trog-ish upper level of the farm system and have always been adept at developing relief pitchers If a trade makes sense, or a player, he'll spend, if not, well why would you? IDK I think the guy, especially if the Wong to red Sox rumour is accurate, wants to focus on now and is geared towards the team winning but there are constraints, and the Arby increases will make a sizeable difference It's maybe too early to judge but certainly wouldnt throw this all on Free Agent spend
  13. Is Urias not already a cheap 3B/SS, with a 110 ish OPS+? Surely, although prospects are great and cheap, but I cant see a team hoping to roll the dice in the playoffs even considering this. In fact with Miller, Toro, Urias, Turang fighting over 2 positions, he may be surplus to requirements and on the trade block himself. The only other player I can se joining that mix is an experienced head, someone to add some clubhouse stature
  14. Tellez in particular is very interesting He had a BABIP of 215 last year, and I remember in June time he had an expected slugging at the same level as Aaron Judge He hit a number of absolute missiles last year either to right field or right through the centre that were outs, I think if he gets anyway normal BABIP this year (streamer projecting a 258 which translates to an expected 810 OPS, and is hardly unreasonable) then hopefully we see more from him and the perception of him. His range might not be huge, but he has a very safe glove at 1B and I'm happy enough for him to man that most of the year Taylor is an interesting one, when you look at his spray chart, and the example shown is probably the biggest gap that will be open, just the pull side of 2B, but didnt realise he was this lop-sided Toro, I guess we'll see but Tellez absed on an increased BABIP and eliminating the shift (especially the short RF position) has me a little excited. Plus the dude is clutch
  15. I think the biggest reason the Cardinals may struggle is the number of pitchers who performed significantly better once Molina came back in August. Thats from a naked eye sort of test, but bar at the end when Wainwright faded, Quinta, Montgomery, Mikolas all looked to take a step forward and I wonder with Contreras if, even despite the increased offense he'll clearly bring, the Cards staff will struggle a whole lot more, particularly with Flaherty being very very hittable even when he was back last year and significantly down on velo
  16. I just posted about an article I saw the other day relating to the Brewers updating the FB velo in their bullpen. I think they'd be mildly content with their bullpen at the moment, particularly if Abner Uribe can stay healthy, but I'd imagine if they can an Alex Reyes style player could be exactly what they'd go in on, depending on the price
  17. I'm a good fan of the milwaukee tailgate podcast, but for anyone who knows, is the minor league podcast any good and worth being a sponsor for?
  18. I'm unsure if it was fangraphs or another site, but did see an article on the current difference in Brewers bullpen vs last years, and speed is a large part Last year Brewers were 28th in avg MPH of their relievers, and averaged 1mph throughout the season. A lot of potential upside in terms of added speed, and we'll see how that plays out, this seems to be a move of seeing if they can get him back to where he once was with them (if so great) but otherwise they'll not really have lost much. Might not be a big name bullpen but there is potential, and I think if Uribe gets a clean start in AAA we'll see him in the 7th/8th inning role before too long as well
  19. I think with Escobar, given no player here will play 162 games its important to think of the rotation of 2B, 3B and SS fielders So whats a better fit Turang, Adames, Urias & Miller/Toro or Turang, Adames, Urias and Escobar? I think as well given there will be times Toro and Miller would be needed, as there will be injuires etc, but Escobar also being an above average 1B fielder with a strength vs Lefties could be a really smart fit, and regardless what Lineup CC puts out, i think there's much more strength there I wouldnt want to be particularly reliant on Miller or Toro if an injury happened to Turang, Urias or Adames, so yeah a lot more stability there, I'd offer a 25-30 prospect at Double A for him probably
  20. ADULT POST I remember reading quite a bit about it, the most sick part was that it seemed like she was inexperienced in the BDSM side of things and he liked things a little on the rough side (to put it mildly). The BDSM community openly stated that its so so important that people have clear boundaries before even engaging with things like this, and consent is a real big part of that community, because ultimately it requires a ton of trust When he suggested strangulation (AKA choking) i dont think she took that to mean being actually choked out, sometimes accidents happen, but to wake up with him violating her somewhere she never consented to (all while she was out cold) there cant be an wiggle room there, and the man's lucky for me not to be seeing time behind bars Any team attached with him after this deserves all the scorn and protests For reference, near myself there's a rugby club where there was a rape trial involving two men (consensual sex then another man joined which she never consented to), they got cleared but all were fired from Ulster rugby after a few protests, its so damaging for corporations to be linked with people like this in any way
  21. I think there's an underestimation of what Winker doing well looks like, as potentially the best hitter the Brewers have, not saying he will but he has the ceiling of a 900 OPS guy if he stays healthy That guy doesnt get traded if you're in contention, so a lot of factors may come into this, but i think its also likely that Mitchell isnt going to be a high 700 OPS, his SO rate is very high and hits a lot more IF ground balls than Frelick has, though with better defense and speed. We'll see how it pans out but it is fairly common for hitters to go down for a while to keep getting AB's and adjust to a few things for their return to Major league level
  22. Just to add to the above, Escobar's OPS vs Lefties 2021 - 888 2022 - 827 Can cover 1st for Rowdy vs Lefties, as well as 3rd/2d vs Righties He's an above average addition and would at the very least considerably improve the consistency in production of a team if Turang/Urias/Heaven forbid, Adames go down
  23. I think its more likely that Escobar would be traded 1 for 1 in this scenario, but given our tons of outfielders and that his promise may be attractive to the mets, I think for 2 years of escobar < $10 Million, its a pretty good deal Cooler heads acknowledged the hit tool risk here, even after Hedbert’s fantastic complex-level season, but not even pragmatic prospect prognosticators predicted he’d have such a rude awakening in full-season ball, where Perez hit .216 in 2022. He still has exciting pull-side power for a left-handed hitter, but the track record of prospects who strike out this much at such a low level isn’t great, and as a left field-only runner and thrower, Perez doesn’t have secondary skills to fall back on. This is the recent assessment by Fangraphs, and he looked wildly out of his depth, Still may have promise, but just as likely, if not more so, could be worth sweet FA, and escobar would really round out this ball club
  24. Potentially if Winker is struggling (he may not make opening day yet actually) but He's such an offensive upgrade if he's hitting even vaguely like his career numbers that its probably more likely that Mitchell or Frelick, if under performing or have some work ons, drop down to AAA
  25. Ahh I added the 90% tax to the cost of the payroll, so its actually $18.05 million for the mets, just 9.5 for brewers
