  1. 6, though I most often use Gulden's honey mustard on my daily sandwich. I also have some chinese hot mustard, silver springs dijon mustard, generic honey mustard, silver springs horseradish mustard, and brown sugar and pecan mustard.
  2. We have plenty of depth plus he'll likely take some time to be effective again. If we were desperate and had a bleak outlook (like we did a few years back), he'd be a great pickup. Now though, we have better options and he'll probably have better options as well in teams with crap pitching where he'll have a good shot of seeing some MLB time by the end of the year. Rotoworld reports that the Astros are interested, which would seem like a decent fit. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=MLB&id=2961
  3. The idea that you can't teach plate discipline is nonsense. What it means is that maybe they haven't been successful in doing so. Unless a player has some sort of physiological impairment, there's absolutely zero reason that you couldn't teach him to discriminate balls from strikes better.
  4. Sophomore at UWM, studying psychology. Great stuff. Behaviorist or cognitivist? You have some pretty well-respected behavior analysts there like Jay Moore.
  5. It's all about Battlefront for me. I can't even wager a decent guess as to how many hours my friends and I put into that game during the year after it came out. Playing as Darth Maul was freakin awesome.
  6. Any department worth its weight in rat dung should make it readily apparent from day one that a bachelor's degree will not be sufficient and will get you pretty much nowhere in life. I knew before I even started college that I was going to have to go on to graduate school unless I wanted to work in a group home for less than I was already making delivering pizza. Our culture has convinced people that college is an integral and sufficient part of the American dream and if you get a college degree you'll be happy and have a successful career with a personal limo driver. It ain't like that, and people can't figure out why they can't land an incredible job with huge compensation with their college degree. Turns out you need a degree you can actually do something with. My employees typically have a bachelor's in psych (and we pay them little but more than competitors) and they're about the biggest malcontents you can imagine, bemoaning every little inconvenience they have to face and claiming nothing is fair. I'm sorry your friends get paid more with better benefits, they have computer science degrees and you have a BA in psych.
  7. As a bachelor's degree, psychology is a joke, it's a survey of survey courses that will never teach you nearly enough to do anything. You get 12 classes, each of them incompatible with eachother, and thus have 12 little tiny fragments of information. Other degrees are much more cumulative and complementary.
  8. Like the kid who gives up Brussels sprouts for lent, I throw my support behind the effort by pledging to not watch Brit Hume, Neil Cavuto, or John Gibson
  9. I was really excited for Medal of Honor, but everyone I talked to said it was gawdawful. I really wish Metroid Prime 3 would've had an online mode - that'd be way too awesome.
  10. The only students worth teaching are the ones who don't need to be taught.
  11. Though I'm not entering my name for the tickets because I live too far away, I wanted to chime in to give you kudos for the insanely awesome and generous offer.
  12. Passing a kidney stone will cause you to throw up. Not if you're outta your mind on morphine and hitting on the nurse like you ain't a guy in a hospital robe with a catheter. Mine broke up before being passed, though, so things were much easier.
  13. I can't recommend a brand, but look at passwird.com and bensbargains, sometimes you can find some very cheap printers there.
  14. It'd take quite a tool to write that in a serious manner - dude had about a million holes, starting with the fact that nobody ever thought Brown would be a great player. He was a reach, but one that they thought was a great gamble. As a satire, it's funny, but the sad thing is that there are so many tools out there who actually write this kind of stuff that it was not at all easy to pick up that it was a joke. It's kinda like how it's hard to know Stephen Colbert's show is a satire because he pretty much says the same thing others say when trying to be serious.
  15. This is maybe the best use of a pie chart I've ever seen. http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=p3&chd=s:hWhhgc&chtt=Rick%20Astley%20would%20never:&chs=800x250&chl=Give%20you%20up%7CLet%20you%20down%7CRun%20around%20and%20desert%20you%7Cmake%20you%20cry%7Csay%20goodbye%7Ctell%20a%20lie
  16. Even if he is just as bad in left as 3rd, the fact is... he will see less action there and that alone is a good reason for the move I can't see anyone disagreeing with that. Not to reintroduce the discussion of just how bad he was at third, but he just can't be as bad in LF as at 3B - it simply can't happen. Only Johnny Estrada and his 6.5sec 40 time would be that bad in left.
  17. 7 or 8 or 10 is still pretty awesome. Even I'm not quite that addicted to caffeine, and I need a good 4 cups a day.
  18. I suppose either way worth or not I got a sweet jersey card of Yount which I won't sell anyway to make money on it. That was my thought when I read the first post. If you're a huge Yount fan, it's probably well worth the $10.50 to buy this even if "book value" were only $5.
  19. certainly this place is stat-centric, but that's one thing I like about the site in some ways. Other sites are awash with people who make crazy opinions and evidence them with more craziness That's the double-edged sword of statistical analysis of baseball. On one hand, there may be some who are alienated by VORP and FIP and PECOTA being thrown around like the terms we grew up with: run-producer, ERA, and skills. On the other hand colloquial terms all leave a ton of extra subjectivity and the argument can't be settled as easily as when you compare to hitters by OPS and OXS. The lack of objective measures can and does lead to a ton of fighting and nonsense since it's much harder for one side to clearly be seen as right. That's not at all to say constructive examination and criticism of stats can't make for a great discussion, as it has many times on this site. There's also plenty of room for pure opinion and gut feeling, as long as it doesn't go toward nonsense levels of "well, my gut just tells me that Hart is a crappy player, and you won't convince me otherwise."
  20. squeaky wheels get fired for stirring unrest among other employees. Definitely. I have employees who think they're "standing up for themselves", etc, but what they're really doing is whining and annoying me. When you take me away from my actual job to deal with bickering, we aren't gonna get along. On the other hand, coming with a problem but addressing it from the angle of "I'd really be happier if this could happen" can work out great. Go to your supervisors and simply ask for a raise. Don't complain, and don't talk about anyone else's pay except to say late in your explanation that you are currently cheaper than a new employee as support for your reasoning. Don't base your argument around what anyone else gets, base it off of what YOU are worth. Just observe my employees for a day and then don't do anything they do, we can't stand them, and I'm about the most laid back boss you'd come across in my field.
  21. The $43 final price was actually pretty decent though. I'd probably pay that for a replica Sheets jersey in decent condition.
  22. This site is by far the most professional and thoughtful Brewers site I've ever come across. The staff put a ton of time into making sure quality control standards are maintained so we can keep a great civil community. There are definitely topics where I prefer a much more unmoderated approach, but those are generally times when I know I'll be discussing things with smart people and everything will be cool. If I'm discussing things with people I know personally, I want no limits. This is baseball though, and there's no need to be a complete idiot about it, that's why this is the only baseball forum I visit. Unmoderated baseball forums are a complete mess, and any forum that's even nearly this size that isn't controlled just turns into a gigantic mess. I love that I can come here and discuss baseball with a huge community and know that the discussion won't drop to the level of nonsense. I think that's why so many people here come to prefer this site above all other baseball message boards.
