  1. Looking at my old house in semi-rural Texas, the image didn't have the restaurant down the street which was built in 2003.
  2. I'd take an extra day off and just go for a long walk to maintain your scheduling regularity. Too many people work out too much and don't give their body ample recovery time. Tuck the exercises from that day into another day so you still get it in, but get that day of rest.
  3. The thing is that unless he gets sent down to Frisco, he'll still be quite a distance from home. Of course, with Bradley in the OF, there's a good chance they'll need a fill-in for awhile, and he could make the team as the 4th OF, he was pretty popular in Texas.

  6. Wow, he got paid like 200-300 times what I get paid, it's just so hard to imagine going broke unless you made a huge risky investment that failed.
  7. It's a pretty good time, though not a really long tour. The Leinie's Lodge was just built a couple years ago and is pretty nice with a ton of stuff to buy. The area around the brewery is nice in the summer and there's a sizeable park next to it with a small zoo, which is free. You'll want to reserve a tour spot ahead of time or you may end up waiting quite a while.
  8. I "get" alcoholism, but I don't get how someone gets arrested for drunken driving 7 times. The addiction compels you to drink, but you aren't concurrently addicted to driving. Cabs are pretty cheap compared to the cost of a DUI arrest. I've been hammered a ton of times, and then I split the $8 cab fare home with a friend. Heck, even in the twin cities you can go from downtown to the burbs for $30.
  9. Yeah, get an agent. If nothing else, they dot the i's and cross the t's that you don't want to deal with yourself. There's a lot of paperwork and nonsense involved in buying a house that you won't understand unless you're an attorney or realtor - and even then you probably wouldn't want to deal with them yourself.
  10. 134 IP is very easy to replace. The value of Sheets with an assumption of injury is conditional on who you have to replace him with. Basically, you have to look at Sheets + whoever fills in for him over 34 starts. If the fill-in is awful, it'd be easier to get someone who produces the same aggregate numbers. If you have a decent #6 option, and you don't suffer much when he's gone and it's harder to replace the numbers. So Sheets + Jimmy Haynes is easier to replace with a single pitcher than Sheets + Parra (assuming Parra performs as expected).
  11. If Joe Jackson wasn't ugly and balding, he would've been a huge star.
  12. Lent was conditioned as a positive for me, because I went to catholic school and the best meal we got was cheese pizza from Pizza Hut, which fit in with the whole lent thing, so we got it more often than the rest of the year. Funny how it's all about sacrifice and we got hooked up with pizza instead of a slimy piece of ham on a bun. I had a friend who gave up caffeine and his girlfriend said she suffered more from him being irritable and lethargic than she had from any of her own lent pledges.
  13. Currently being discussed in the off topic forum. LINK
  14. Above all else... television would become the world's greatest teaching tool. Illiteracy would be wiped out. The immediacy of television was the key Funny that we thought the same about the internet, yet it led to AOL Speak, online diploma mills, and more porno.
  15. I have to wonder if everyone would be OK with Vick's dogfighting if it was legal in Virginia People would be so mad at Virginia over the whole issue to begin with that Vick's actions probably go unnoticed.
  16. The bum goes out and gets wasted off Sisco and Thunderbird, never buys U-62 stock, and R.J. Fletcher ends up owning the station.
  17. Yeah, the series won't end with Dwight and Mose playing ping pong in the warehouse. I had feared that, though it would perhaps be a somewhat fitting ending.
  18. Would Ellsbury, Lester & a prospect (mid-level) be enough for the board FOR Sheets? Umm, yep.
  19. Maybe a Brewerfan "McFadden" jersey. On the front: You can't taint our devotion.
  20. I'm sure all of the hatred will be directed at Pedro, but that ain't gonna change anything. People would be better-served trying to get the DR to outlaw it. I think it's still legal in Louisiana.
  21. I met Eddie the Eagle when I was younger. Truly a life-altering experience.
  22. As long as you're talking purely about the player and not contract issues: A-Rod. Hanley Ramirez is great, as is Braun, Fielder, and any other rising star that'll be mentioned, but Rodriguez still has plenty of gas in the tank and is more "can't miss" than the others.
  23. I pretty much always fly Northwest, and have had nothing but good experiences.
  24. The King of Kong Finally got around to that tonight. Yup, awesome,
  25. Speaking of lopsided trades, the Rockies also signed Victor Zambrano to a minor league deal. THAT GUY fetched Kazmir. Maybe if NY would've forgone Zambrano's services, they wouldn't have needed to trade for Santana and give him huge bucks. O.K., so Kazmir ain't Johan, but still.
