  1. Did you see him running on that 8th inning double? Playing him in CF would be a huge mistake. He is not moving well. That ball got past PCA and he still barely made it into 2nd. But again... there's a lefty on the mound, so you don't need to make room for Bauers. I'd honestly consider swapping Yelich and Chourio. I don't think there's much question if this was the regular season, he'd be on the IL and then... probably be out for a month until it was 100% healed up... but it's not, so you play through it until you tear it too bad you can't play, but throwing him in CF is just ensuring it happens.
  2. So how are you rounding out the OF? Chourio can't play CF. He can play RF... but you really can't sit him. Would you be sitting Frelick? I wouldn't do that, even vs a lefty. Also, the Cubs are going back to Boyd tomorrow, so... it wouldn't make sense to start Bauers. I think you just go with the same lineup from Gm1.
  3. .... right, but we were talking about how they'd configure the OF for the bottom of the 9th HAD they scored and you're the one who was adamantly against Frelick playing CF. So... It's pretty valid question. If we're doing the 'I'm not the manager, so it doesn't matter,' thing, then your objection to him playing CF doesn't make much sense in the first place.
  4. Yeah... these kids, for the most part, had nothing to do with the past losses. I'm choosing to continue to be optimistic.
  5. He was on fire after the break. His best baseball was post-ASB. He struggled when he started getting more sporadic playing time the last few weeks of September, but he was still much better the 2nd half vs the 1st half.
  6. Well... dream about being in the middle of thousand of depressed, sad Chicago fans(so their natural state).
  7. Yeah, for sarcasm. You're not seriously complaining that Collins and his Wife had a kid during the season... right?
  8. I didn't like that at all. Collins is a good fielder. On top of Frelick being able to play CF in a pinch late, he's also more than capable of doing so for a whole game. Lockridge isn't a great fielder from what I've seen(he's good, but mostly just fast). But I'd have certainly taken my chances with Collins over Lockridge. That being said, Lockridge at least had a good AB vs Tallion and Collins swung at a really bad 3-2 pitch. It's easy to go back and nitpick the managerial decisions and we can debate them. But some guys(Chourio, Vaughn... every pitcher not named Priester/Ashby) has been good and other guys like Turang have not. That's a 5-6 WAR player and he's up there on a 1st pitch swinging like he's protecting... but also NOT protecting. He's gotta get it going like he did last year in the post-season. The Brewers need someone else to step up.
  9. So... what would you have done then? Play Chourio in CF with his hamstring? That's a pretty obvious reason to change things. It's the playoffs. That's why you have to do some different things sometimes. You don't manage the same way in October as you do over 162 games for obvious reasons. Over 162 games, you don't have your starters throw out of the pen... because you're worried about the next 5-10-20 games. You're worried about winning ONE game at a time and just getting through that game. He's an excellent RFer. He's ALSO a good enough CFer to get through the last part of the game with him out there given... again, the only other option would have been Chourio. Chourio also has a pretty strong arm and can play RF well and Bauers is... not a scub in LF.
  10. I do not trust Miz and you might only get 3 batters out of him. Patrick is the guy I trust and I don't think you can ask him to go 3-4 innings tomorrow after the last two games. I say go with Freddy. And I wouldn't be scared to come back with Priester in Milwaukee in Gm5... but we're not going to get that 3rd home game revenue this year. Although... according to ChatGTP, that's worth about 5M in revenue... could mean we could add a FA, so... maybe that's Rick Schlsinger's plan? I know that's not how it's spelled... I don't care enough to spell it right.
  11. ... is this supposed to be in blue? LOL... I don't always put things in blue because it's sometimes SO obvious, but... please tell me this is one of those cases...
  12. Ok... that doesn't mean we should lose 3 games in a row in the playoffs to the Cubs. We won 97 games and we've shut the Cubs down for the most part. They scored 4 in the first and our BP DOMINATED them again. Hell, have Bauers start the game on the mound and bring Peralta in after one batter... given our BP's performance this series... Peralta is guaranteed to throw 7 shutout!
  13. I would say it's.. pretty hard to imagine they'll have a better opportunity anytime past the Chourio era... but I thought Priester was the obvious move here. We're the Brewers. We rely on and expect young players to be able to adapt to the post-season quickly. But even with Priester's struggles, we had chances. The Cubs tried to choke the game away and we just couldn't get that bit hit in 3 different innings. Durbin just goes for it and forces that throw home and I think he has a 50/50 chance of getting in under the tag. He was...7-8 feet away. I suppose he was thinking about getting men on 2nd and 3rd, but...
  14. He's played plenty of CF and he's a good enough fielder that... it really doesn't make sense to me that we're SO resistant to play him out there. Though.. Collins had a TERRIBLE at bat as well. That gets forgotten, but got up 3-0, two strikes, then swing at a ball in the dirt... I believe that was the inning that we had 1st and 3rd and 1 out.
  15. We also really didn't "waste" the BP. We threw Quintana, Koenig threw a bit, Patrick and Anderson. Didn't use Ashby, Uribe, Megill. We're good to go.
  16. You've said that every game. After the first inning yesterday, you said the series was over...
  17. Cubs had ONE good inning vs the Brewers. Priester was due a loss and... they couldn't get anything else going vs the Brewers pitching... and we blew this one. That's it. We're going to be fine. No fatalistic BS now. We're still up 2-1 and this series isn't gonna make it back to Milwaukee. I'm just hoping the Phillies can take a couple games so Philly comes to Milwaukee on October 13th!!!!
  18. Alright... That took everything for the Cubs. Pressure is still on them tomorrow at home with Gm5 back in Milwaukee and Freddy on the Mound.
  19. I think Frelick probably would. Bauers to the OF. Lets just hope we have to figure that out.
  20. It only made sense to me earlier because... Lockridge is really not a good hitter. But here... with hindsight, it's impossible to argue. If they would have, I certainly wouldn't have argued...
  21. This is a chance for Vaughn to really vault himself into Brewers lore...and he flies out to RF...
  22. I mean... who do you hit there? It's a toss up and he has been as good as anyone this year. If he's not hitting 3rd, he's hitting 1st or 2nd. It's been a brutal series since his first AB, but he finished the year having a big Sept, he had a big 2nd half. And again, a RHP started for the Cubs...
  23. Gonna need an unsung hero to come through. Mona...and then Perkins before Yelly and one gets on, it's the 21-year-old star. This feels a bit like a Miguel Cabrera type moment for him. I hope you're right.
  24. That's... a 50/50 call I think. I get the argument, but... he's your #3 hitter.
  25. He was so good in the playoffs last year and then starts this year with the double and just has NOT been competitive since then. Just bad at bats. Can't have that from your #3 hitter. Also... kinda feel like you should be saving Patrick here. Going with Uribe and Megill. He's one of the few I trust to give us multiple innings right now.
