    The only thing I'd disagree with is I'd like to see him start. His stuff is too good, he's got 4 pitches. Hall can pitch vs lefties or in a multi-inning role(albeit not as good, but... I'd give Ashby a shot) and they have other arms they can throw out there.

    Well...yeah, it was kind of a rhetorical question, but... not, I still don't pick against teams like The Browns. Any team with a great front can beat anyone. That's not nonsense, that's... just Football. The 49ers played them the week before and had drives of 16, 32 and 18 yards.

    Yeah, I don't know how we lost to this team. Hurts is SO bad. Only player in NFL history to throw a pick AND fumble... on the same play. And I have the Eagles as my survivor pick tonight. It was them, the Browns or the Buccs... so it'd be nice if the Eagles D found SOME way to salvage this game... Jordan Davis is an absolute stud though.

    We used to go up North and find a tree and cut it down every year. That's when my Grandparents... Uncle and Dad owned land. I've since bought it and there are trees all over and that used to be fun. And it was fun for a few years for my own Christmas. And then it was just... 6 hours driving up there. It's like a high of 9 degrees up there, it'll be up to 18 during the week. I could just buy one but I just put up a fake one now. It looks REALLY good and it comes with lights, no fire hazard and it just comes part and goes in a box. Nobody seems to miss the good old days as long as there's still fun stuff under the tree.

    I think people are going off the perception Ashby has worse control(especially if we're talking about Uribe). BB per 9 Megill 3.3 Uribe 3.2 Ashby 3.2 I don't think they should make him a closer(I don't think they should make Uribe a closer next year as we should just leave Megill right there). Ashby is... just fine though.

    I'm not arguing with you... I'm just saying, I don't think they're going to call it every time. Gary has been called plenty.

    Ok... but the Bears really AREN'T fraudulent! We survived a blown assignment on the last play of the game by Evan Williams to escape with a one score win! But I'm curious... on pace to beat the '85 Bears record for most sacks, the best OG in the game(maybe, up there with Nelson) and good OTs, OL as a whole. Why are they fraudulent? Bo Nix?

    If Ashby did this, they'd... likely trade him as he'd be up there with the best pitchers in the game and the return would be massive. I would think you'd be hoping Ashby could post an ERA of ~3-3.30 and give you 120 IP. You'll likely have numerous guys who will need to have their innings managed. He'd be one, Mis, Woodruff, Logan Henderson. Ok... but you'd still have the 2027 season to make that decision... and it's PRETTY big leap to assume that he'd somehow end up in the same situation as the guy who was the reliever of the year and the most valuable non-starting pitcher in Baseball in Hader when he went to arbitration. He'd also be coming off a 7.7M salary so... the lowest you could offer him would be ~6.2M as you can only offer a 20% decrease. Injuries are part of pitching, but he's right about average as far as walks go. 3.2 BB per 9 is... pretty much average for a reliever(maybe a bit better than average). Add in over 10K per 9IP and a 60% GB rate... yeah, it be nice if he was even better, but it's pretty good. Coming back from Shoulder surgery to throw 97-100 is... pretty rare. If he COULD do what he did last year over 150 innings or so... that'd be incredibly valuable. But it's pretty unlikely.

    On another note... loving the good feelings, but... the Packers have one helluva tough schedule the next 3 weeks. The Denver Broncos... the team last year that looked TERRIBLE to start the year and looked like they had a coach who was washed, a 1st Rd pick who was a huge reach(and the 6th QB picked IIRC) but a good defense... they come in with maybe the worst matchup for the Packers. Excellent edge rushers, on pace to set an NFL RECORD in sacks, they're one of the best teams vs the run. They have the best CB in the league(at least among those playing right now) in Surtain. They're also somehow favored in this game IN Denver. I would think they'd be 3 point dogs, but opening line, Packers -1.5.

    Musgrave(or Jeff Janis as you like to call him😉) it looked like it hit the ground, but I thought it was a case where had it pinned to his body and it just touches the ground while he controls it. If they call that incomplete, I'm fine, but I don't get how it was overturned. Wiliams pick, I haven't seen anything. I just assumed it did. I feel like that was splitting the difference. They called a fumble, Bears recovery(clearly recovery by Packers IF there is one). My Dad called... yelling in my ear, I thought my Mom broke a hip or something, but that's what it was about. "It NEVER touched he ground!" He's older. The Bears series is more personal for him. The majority of my life, they've been... irrelevant. We've only heard about the rivalry, but he lived threough 20 years of it going the other way, so this still gets that 71 year old heart going!

    I've heard it on several shows, but it's kinda like the All Pro tax. That's what it feels like. He's too fast and they can't call every time he gets hooked. In fairness, some edge rushers kinda rip through and then hold-on like it's the NBA and they're trying to draw a foul, but... obviously not Micah as he's so fast and relentless and he's never crying for calls. But yeah, I've heard it. Everyone's seen it. Gary has also been held quite a few times and it's not called.

    I REALLY hate saying this, but if I was a Bears fan... as much as it sucks to lose again to the Packers in a big game, I would be... so confident about the future of my franchise. Ben Johnson is a bit of a dick. I don't know if that's "unacceptable," but it feels like mostly adults here. I'd be perfectly fine with that being my coach. MLF plays a nice guy, but on that handshake, he didn't seem interested in a warm conversation. You see each other in 2 weeks, that'll be for the division(this was to pretty much ensure the Bears the division unless they have a meltdown). But Johnson has that team playing so hard. They would have folded any other year. The year we won our last SB, it was a 14-0 lead when the Bears just quit... mostly. We played real conservative, it was cold, miserable. The Bears made it a game off an Urlacher pick but it was never really in doubt. This game was in doubt. They've definitely got that franchise turning(turned?) around and headed in the right direction. I'm actually... almost glad they're not terrible this year as that's kinda how the Lions got so good so quick, they had those picks from the Rams and still sucked and got Sewell. But if they get a LT and then just keep making smart investments on that OL, front 7, that's gonna be a Ravens-Steelers like battle for the foreseeable future.

    Yeah, of course it sucks. I just meant we can still win, but... the way Kraft just kept getting better and as important as Wyatt was, Kraft at least will ALMOST certainly be back at 100% next year(and even better if he follows Watson's rehab schedule). The broken tibia and torn ligaments with Wyatt is... more concerning. You know there's going to be some season ending injuries every year. You just hope it's not to a couple of their most valuable players. This year it was(as well as last year with Watson). The Bakh injury may be the most consequential one we've EVER had.

    They had a bunch of guys on IR that year. And it wasn't just starters, where they lost players, they lost the backups in a lot of cases. Finley, Grant(back to back 1250 yard seasons). Finley was... similar to Kraft on this team. Morgan Burnett, Nick Barnett... Mark Tauscher...Brad Jones started opposite Matthews, Poppinga was #3 edge, Neal was an edge still. But they had a great QB, a great DC and they had 4-5 really dangerous WRs who they could use to attack downfield.

    Well... yeah, he's gotta be pretty much a unanimous #1/#2. Probably behind Mahomes, but I'd guess some would take him over Mahomes. It's Mahomes and Allen 1, 2 and then a pretty big gap to #3. I think I'd go Herbert, Stafford, Burrows and after that... you could make an argument for quite a few. 3 QBs are in the top 5 in both Total QBR and QB Rating. Love, Stafford and Maye. Love's #2 in Total QBR just behind Dak(73.3 to 73.1) and 5th in QB rating behind Maye, Stafford and Goff by a good margin and then effectively tied with Lamar). The next 6-7 QBs could go in whatever order you want, but Love can be in that group. Maybe Lamar should be a step above as a 2X MVP, but... I'm just not sold on him. Dak, Maye, Daniels(looking like RGIII, but that's early), Love, Goff... lots of guys I'm forgetting. Williams is the next tier, but I think he could be in that top 5.

    The Packers D held up for the first 36 minutes of the game, but... you wear down. That hit where their RB and Cooper ran into each other and you could see the Bugs Bunny type birds circling their head, that wears on you. ***Not signing Mike Pennel when he said he wanted to retire a Packer and he went back to the Chiefs... that move hurts right now. One of the better run stuffers was available this year and for the vet minimum and we didn't pursue him(despite him openly expressing a desire to play here and it being after Clark left).

    Are you saying Moore there? That's a pretty late release and the ball really should have already been out by then(may have been a TD if it had been).

    He has the talent to be as good as any QB in the league. That play where Williams had him, he rolled out and dropped the ball over Mcduffie about 30 yards down the field? Yeah, I get it's a LB and the one of our 3 who is bad vs the pass, but that was a special play. Mahomes, Allen and... hell, I don't know if there's a 3rd QB who can make that(maybe Rodgers... definitely at one point). It's the plays that AREN'T as difficult that you just don't know with him.

    They're good. That Monangai runs the ball HARD and wears you down too. Also, Johnson has a whole lot of different looks and Caleb is so athletic. They did hold the hell out of Gary and Parsons on the edge. It was kinda over the top. Parsons gets held because of that rip as it is, but today was another level... NOT that-that is why they ran the ball well.

    Yeah... that's gonna be a tough loss in the off-season(though he's playing himself into a nice comp pick). Good thing for us that Sorrell looks like he COULD step in and fill that hole left by Enagbare. He's really rounded out his whole game.
