  1. Greinke if the price is outlandish. I'm really not interested in a long term Marcum extension. He just screams out as a guy who could suddenly fall off a cliff, performance wise.
  2. So you're saying all we need to do is find someone who's very lucky, but also injury prone, who has access to a family of polar bears???
  3. Pretty cool stuff. Thanks for sharing. I like the idea of the TV deal generating more revenue if the ratings go up. Hopefully the fans continue doing their part in tuning in to support the team.
  4. I thought it was pretty funny, though I really don't quite get where they're going with some of the characters. They were teasing Andy having some sort of relationship with Robert California's ex, but that seems to have been dropped already. Some of the other characters just seem sort of "there" at this point. I don't get where all this is supposed to be leading (if anywhere).
  5. Well, let's face it. Prince could sign with a Baltimore or Seattle, and even though those clubs probably won't be serious competitors in the next year or two, they probably would be at some point over the course of a 7-10 year deal. I'm sure that is part of a player's thought process. Prince is still pretty young, so it's not like he only has the next couple seasons to win a ring before his window of opportunity is closed.
  6. Well, the reporting on this story has been pretty poor in general, so I don't think this is really anything new.
  7. Yeah, I saw it pointed out earlier this week that the Brewers will have a higher payroll than the Mets this year.
  8. Here's a link with a brief comment from Aoki. Aoki said at a news conference Friday that he's "just happy to get the opportunity to play in the major leagues. It's something that has been a dream of mine for quite some time."
  9. If we signed Fielder, but had to trade Wolf, K-Rod, and Hart, isn't it a net loss for this season? Also, to answer the question above, here is a quote from Melvin in a Tom Haudricourt story from yesterday: Asked what would happen if Boras called and offered to take a one-year deal at this stage, Melvin said, "I don't think we could."
  10. It seems like people say this every year. They do have some nice pieces, but I'm not sure why they'll really end up being a threat to take the division, though.
  11. MLB needs to do a better job "vetting" these foreign born players.
  12. He must have very badly wanted to play in MLB. Good job, Dagumerubin
  13. Yeah, that would have been very bizarre to see Counsell in a Cubs uniform.
  14. Boy, the market for Fielder just seems to be stone cold right now. Other than the Nationals and maybe the Tigers, there don't seem to be any suitors at all. If I'm Prince, I'm probably very upset with Scott Boras by this point.
  15. I thought Seattle claimed they only have a couple million left to spend for next season? I haven't heard anything about the Orioles going after him in quite a while either. I would think Washington and Detroit are the only two real options at this juncture.
  16. I think part of it ia that there aren't a lot of teams really lacking in good outfielders right now.
  17. From what I've heard, Counsell is regarded as being pretty smart, and there's been talk for a long time about him being a coach or front office person after his playing career finished up. Is there some favoritism here? Sure. But I don't think his hiring is without merit.
  18. I really doubt he says anything about it.
  19. It will be interesting to see what the finals numbers on his contract are. I do like the insurance he will hopefully provide if Braun is indeed suspended for 50 games.
  20. The wife and I just moved into our new house this past week. Everything is fine for the most part, but the microwave's turntable makes a horrible grinding noise when it's turning. It's very annoying.
  21. I think the thing is that this makes him very tradeable to a team needing a closer. I'm sure K-Rod kept that in mind. This is a good deal for the Brewers, regardless.
  22. I do wonder if we get into early February and he still hasn't signed, if Boras and Prince might come back to the Brewers and show interest in a one year deal. I do think the market for him could be much greater next off-season. Prince and Boras' ego may not allow for that, though.
  23. All right folks, let's make this official: What?: Brewerfan.net Winter Meetings Where?: AJ Bombers, Madison, WI (201 West Gorham St.) When?: Saturday, March 10, 2012, starting at 7 PM Come join with other Brewers fans and talk about Brewers baseball, and whatever else, while enjoying food and beverages. Matt, the owner of the location, has offered to give back to Brewerfan.net 10% of the proceeds for the evening (or to a charity of the website's choice). All are welcome, so feel free to bring friends and family. Let's make this one of the best Winter Meetings yet!
  24. Haudricourt has a tweet from today saying that a Japanese media source told him he thinks the Brewers will indeed sign Aoki.
