  1. Yeah, this is how I feel. I don't think they're going to give him a huge amount of dollars per year. It's more about cost certainty for the club, and Axford getting some financial security as well. Greinke isn't really analogous to this discussion though, since Axford is under control for the next several years regardless. If we don't re-sign Greinke, he's gone and we only get draft picks.
  2. I don't think it's that bad. Maybe a slight overpay, but it's not like St. Louis can't afford it. That said, I can't stand Yadier Molina.
  3. I'm at the point where I don't really care anymore. I don't think Laurenzi willfully tampered with the sample, but I don't think Braun knowingly took a PE or whatever either. I really doubt once the Brewers made the playoffs Braun suddenly decided, "Hey, you know, I should start taking steroids," since he would have known he'd be tested. I think something stupid probably happened that led to the positive test result. Unfortunately, we probably won't ever know exactly what that was, and at this point I don't think it's productive to really worry about it any further.
  4. I really wish there was a rule that a player had to be signed by May 1st or something in order to be eligible for the post-season. I got so sick of Roger Clemens' pulling that stuff in his last few seasons.
  5. My guess is that Greinke wants to know if he'll have "help" in the rotation if he re-signs, or if it's going to be mostly him and Gallardo carrying the load. Either way, it's cool to see an active starting pitcher being concerned about the organization's prospects.
  6. I haven't listened to the album all the way through, but I like what I've heard so far. DLR doesn't have the range he used to, but it almost sounds like he's controlling what he has better than on the early Van Halen albums. As a bass player, I miss Michael Anthony playing with them. Wolfgang does a good job handling the bass lines, I have to say. Anthony's background vocals are definitely missing, though.
  7. To me, the X-factor in this is Aoki. Is he just going to be a mediocre utility outfielder in the majors, or is he going to be Ichiro-lite? We don't really know yet.
  8. Yeah...many people are so eager to crucify anyone, especially when they can do it semi-anonymously on the internet. Those are the sorts that these "writers" appeal to.
  9. I kind of agree that there shouldn't be a big rush to extend Roenicke, but I wouldn't have a big problem with it. I don't want this franchise to turn into one that hires a new manager every couple years. As for Melvin, he should get a nice 3-4 year extension. Good GMs don't grow on trees, and he's the most successful one the Brewers have ever had.
  10. I agree with pitchleague, and I'm a huge fan of The Office. I still enjoy the show and tune in every week, but I wouldn't compare it to those other programs. To me it's more like something like Friends or Full House or Murphy Brown...good enough shows that were very entertaining in their own ways and had nice runs, but aren't really remembered as benchmark TV programs.
  11. I'm really surprised there isn't a topic on this already. I guess it got lost in all the Braunageddon hysteria. Here's a link from the JSOnline: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/140449033.html Now the Ryan Braun saga is behind the Brewers and the focus is back on baseball, the next order of business for principal owner Mark Attanasio is extending the contract of general manager Doug Melvin. And, once that deal is done, Melvin will address the contract of manager Ron Roenicke. At present, both Melvin and Roenicke are on the final years of their contract, though the club holds an option for 2013 on the skipper. I personally have no problem with this, but I know others may feel different. What does everyone think?
  12. A lot will come down to how he performs in spring training, I'd suppose.
  13. Dan Patrick is talking about this again right now if people are interested. Just mentioned the tidbit about the Cubs fan again.
  14. Who is this "Mark M" on twitter? He was relaying notes from the Dan Patrick show. I should have specified that.
  15. https://twitter.com/#!/TSH255/status/173057955808280579 More notes: Urine collector is a Cubs fan. Bypassed 2 open Fed Ex locations that were open. 3rd one was closed.
  16. I guess Dan Patrick has some interesting info on the hearing and more this morning, though I missed the first parts of it. Something a person on Twitter sent me: "On DP radio show: brought the collector in to the hearing. said it took the guy 37 seconds to state his name. Couldnt look at Braun" https://twitter.com/#!/TSH255/status/173054515149422592
  17. One thing I noticed in a piece that Drew Olson wrote: Shyam Das has been doing this for 20 years. So it's not like he's just some schlub making some flippant decision.
  18. I could see one of Gomez/Morgan/Aoki being traded if the right move comes along. They won't just trade one to trade one, though.
  19. If Pujols went through the same lengthy process as Braun did, I would let the issue go and move on once resolved. I would probably still have doubts, but let's face it...if presented with one of Braun or Pujols potentially being on steroids/PEDs, who would you honestly pick?
  20. I think after yesterday's news, this year's outing should be pretty celebratory!
  21. Yeah, if what Munson says is true, than screw MLB and screw all the doubters.
  22. I'm not sure if that 100% means WMLW won't carry any games this year. It just might be that part of the schedule has yet to be announced.
  23. ESPN is still continuing with their stupidity. I don't listen to them, but I guess Mike & Mike trotted out the old "difference between innocent and not guilty" line this morning already.
