  1. Doesn't look like anyone of significance, but who really knows anything at this point?
  2. Jeremy Lin plays in New York, so that is part of the constant coverage...I will say Lin is a legit story, but so is the fate of the reigning NL MVP.
  3. Yeah, look at how much they still talk about Tim Tebow, weeks after the Broncos were eliminated in the playoffs.
  4. Is the press conference going to be streamed? Edit: No stream, but McCalvy has some photos and comments here: http://brewers.mlblogs.com/2012/02/23/photos-from-aoki-press-conference/
  5. I just read that one. Just looks like blind speculation to me.
  6. You would think they would be playing up that we'll get a decision "soon", as other commentators have been saying. My guess is they either know they're going to end up with egg on their faces, or MLB told them to keep quiet.
  7. Well, we'll see. I'm not holding my breath at this point in the day.
  8. Yeah, but the DH now gets used in basically every level of baseball past college. That's just how it is nowadays. I don't think you can hold big league players to a standard based on what kids think in little league.
  9. The pessimist in me wonders if they would make an announcement before Braun gets to camp so he doesn't have to deal with the immediate media circus. Then again, this is all just rumors that there will even be an announcement on anything today.
  10. You must be a mainstream media brainwashed, nanny state socialist.
  11. Very interesting tidbit. That jives with what I heard a couple days ago.
  12. Some MLB teams have games where fans can bring their dogs. I know the White Sox do for sure.
  13. This is silly though. The BWAA already said a couple months ago that they won't have a re-vote even if Braun is suspended. It's not up to Kemp or anyone else to take the award from Braun. Just one of those "slow news day" things that gets more play than it should, I guess. Edit: I do think today is the day that we hear something on Braun. Then again, I admit I've said this two or three times already.
  14. My guess is that MLB gave them a scolding about that. Just a theory.
  15. The person I talked to was confident Braun won't be suspended, but we'll see.
  16. For whatever it's worth, someone on Twitter told me that we should hear something tomorrow. Not trying to give false hope, but I'll keep my fingers crossed, at least.
  17. I bet he ends up as a coach somewhere, if he has interest in that. He seems like he would be a good clubhouse/mentor guy to have around.
  18. I hope ilovebeer is right. I would definitely think sometime this week, but who really knows at this point?
  19. A lot of times where we are, FS-Wisconsin picks up the Wmlw broadcasts anyway.
  20. I hope you're right. I can't take any more of this wait. I thought we would hear something before pitchers and catchers reported, but I guess this Das guy doesn't operate on a real world clock.
  21. This wait is getting ridiculous. I know that point has been hammered to death, but pitchers and catchers are reporting and we still don't know anything.
  22. It's about time. This is great news.
  23. We've had this discussion regarding Maryvale many times before around here. No, it's not a festering third world ghetto, but it isn't anywhere I'd feel comfortable walking around at night. You can tell it's an economically depressed area. When you drive out of the Maryvale parking lot, there's homeless people along the median begging for money, etc. There really isn't anything to do around the stadium, either. No real restaurants, etc. It's simply just not the best location for an MLB facility, and I don't think there's any real argument about it. Plus, while the park is decent, but pales in comparison to the amenities at the newer ballparks around the area. It's basically a bare bones ballpark, and that's it. I think my favorite when we visited a couple years ago was the new Dodgers/White Sox ballpark. Beautiful park, plenty of parking, wide seats (almost ridiculously so), and good shops and food. Not to go on a rant, but the food at Maryvale basically sucks compared to the offerings at the other parks. As far as stuff to do, if you're the adventurous type, there's the Apache Trail. I recommend having a solid vehicle and bringing plenty of water, though.
