  1. I kind of hope not. I think the glut of '82 stuff in '07 was enough of that (at least for me). I know this might not be a popular idea, but how about doing a Bud Selig bobblehead? They could make it look like his statue outside Miller Park.
  2. My guess is next year we get both Gallardo and Marcum, assuming neither is traded. Again, Yo is under team contract for a long time. There is no reason to rush a bobble out of him. They probably want to spread the elite players out and not have all the big stars in one season.
  3. From reading Adam McCavly's blog, it sounds like Gallardo got "bumped" for Greinke. He insinuates that Gallardo will almost certainly have a bobble in 2012.
  4. I really think the Rays are going to have to leave Florida at some point. The Florida baseball fans have shown they will barely support one MLB, let alone two. Move them out west and make the necessary re-alignment moves. Or, heaven forbid, move them to the NL and let the teams have interleague play all season. I've been an advocate of all the teams playing each other for a long time. My favorite suggestion a while ago was to have the A's relocate to the New Jersey area, but I realize this will never happen.
  5. How could the Astros possibly be projected to be better than the Brewers next season? What a joke.
  6. Someone will give him 10 years, but not $300 million.
  7. The Tropicana renovation plan looks pretty interesting. I wonder if that's something the Rays can revisit if they can't find a new stadium location in the Bay area.
  8. Counsell deserves a bobble. He is a Wisconsin boy and has been a Brewers a long time, plus this might be his final season. Gallardo is under contract through 2015 (or around there). There is plenty of time to get him a bobblehead. I wanted a Yo bobble too, but the amount of consternation over this "snubbing" is kind of ridiculous. I agree Wolf bobble won't be in demand, but that's probably why they're doing it at the end of the season. Either that game will be a sell out anyway, or they will need something to get a few extra fans in...not a big deal as I see it. I agree that I don't see the point of another Hot Dog bobble. I assume this will be different than the one with the US flag crossing the finish line a few years back? We haven't heard anything more about the "pink" rumor, so I wonder if that was just that (a rumor).
  9. ...interesting choice of words (if you didn't already know). Did not know they made it "official", but they've been on and off again for a while now, it seemed. Jack White always has some project going so maybe something in the future with him might be possible.
  10. I know this happened yesterday, but it might be worth calling the police and filing a report. I know you said you don't have a very good description, but having something recorded is better than nothing at all. That said, I doubt you ever see or hear from the jerk again.
  11. I don't think this year's crop is bad at all. Greinke, McGehee, Counsell, and Axford will all be popular. The only two negatives are the hot dog (which I don't get why they're doing again), and maybe Wolf. Can't see a lot of people coming out for that one. Hopefully the team will be more of a reason to come out that day than a bobble figure. Slightly off topic, but I noticed the Admirals are doing a Uecker bobble on February 18th, featuring him in a plaid sportscoat.
  12. I just have a suspicion something could get done yet with Weeks and maybe Marcum as well. I wouldn't expect a Greinke extension before the end of this season (if at all). Just a hunch.
  13. I would think Metallica would be a bit too "heavy" for the audience they're trying to appeal to. Why not a more modern rock band like the Strokes, Killers, or White Stripes (if they're still together)?
  14. Yeah, it was. Who wants a giant Miller Lite bobblehead? Hopefully this year's is different. They should do a contest among their actual beer vendors and make the winner into a bobble, or something like that.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised. They had all the "finalist" items available to try during the On Deck event.
  16. Don Walker has the details here. The Milwaukee Brewers announced Wednesday that Saturday, Feb. 26 will be the date for the annual Arctic Tailgate in which fans can buy single-game tickets. Tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. that day. The team also announced a change in the rules for fans who set up shelters to wait for the ticket windows to open. Under the new rules, fans will be unable to erect hand-made or hand-built shelters and cannot set up camp prior to noon, Thursday, Feb. 24. Shelters made of cardboard or wood will not be allowed.
  17. Kind of disappointing there's no Gallardo, but there will be chances in the next couple seasons as well. I noticed the whole promotional schedule is here. They are doing alternate pinstripe bobbles (on at least some dates) this year, and also another Miller Lite vendor bobble on July 30th.
  18. I'm kind of disappointed that the item that was arguably the most boring won. Oh well. Edit: I saw this line after re-reading the JSOnline story and it turns out they'll be having poutine as well! Although Poutine with Cheese Curds finished second in the overall fan voting, it will also be added to the Miller Park menu for 2011.
  19. Pettitte just announced retirement, and Dye looks headed for the same. This would be a pretty lousy team, I have to say. I think they'd have an outside shot at 75 wins. Interesting topic, though.
  20. My memory could be off, but I remember that MLB was extremely eager to get a franchise into the Phoenix area for a long time. I think they were willing to bend over backwards to accommodate them.
  21. Just thought some would find this interesting about a new basketball team coming to the Milwaukee area. The Milwaukee Blast, newest members of the American Basketball Association, will begin play in late November or early December, according to Joe Newman, the ABA's ceo, and Elzie Flenard, the Waukesha businessman who is the Blast's owner. The ABA is decidedly minor league, but is proud of it. Newman said Flenard paid $10,000 as a licensing fee, and "I financed it," Newman said. Newman said the league's goal is to provide a fan-friendly, affordable game to basketball fans. Ticket prices are in the $10 range.
  22. No takers at all? I'd consider other bobbles or other items at this point.
  23. Yeah, I think they ran out of older classic rock acts to trot out (Rolling Stones, the Who, etc).
  24. Yeah, that was my favorite by far. I didn't pay attention to the commercials too much this year, probably because I was so focused on the game at hand for obvious reasons. I do agree with the comment above that the Super Bowl commercials all seem to just perpetuate male/female stereotypes for the most part. It's not like you'll ever see a group of females acting like drunk doofuses and drooling over some hot guys in a TV commercial, though.
  25. Supposedly Young has asked the Rangers to trade him because he doesn't want to primarily DH. Young seems like he could have a lot of uses for the Brewers (especially if both Weeks and Fielder leave after 2011). I just wouldn't want to take on that whole contract, or give up a lot to get him. Not sure there is a fit here.
