  1. It very well might be viable, but they would absolutely have to build a new stadium like they had planned, before that fell through in the early 2000's.
  2. dlk makes a really good point. Can anyone honestly see the Pirates or Royals making the playoffs in the next 2-3 years? However, I could definitely see a team like the Lions or Panthers making it. Things can turn around that quick in the NFL, and that opportunity just does not really exist in MLB.
  3. I think 3D is just a big gimmick. I've seen the demos in places like Best Buy, and don't find it that compelling. I wouldn't pay extra for a 3D television right now, especially since there isn't all that much 3D content out there yet. Just my opinion.
  4. Sounds like a screw up. I'm pretty sure you were supposed to get the steak and cheese for $5.00. It's being advertised as part of the promotion, like someone else pointed out. There's a good discussion on the current Walker bill debate here.
  5. Of the guys topper mentioned, I can only see Griffey (obviously a sure fire first ballot guy) and Smoltz getting really serious consideration. I think Hoffman can still get in, especially given that he is so well respected and has never been connected to any PED use.
  6. I guess I just don't buy it. Remember, the Cardinals also tried to extend Pujols last off-season as well. I just find it hard to believe that Pujols will suddenly have a change of heart at the end of the season. We could see some team like the Cubs or Orioles get desperate and overpay for Pujols beyond what the Cardinals would be willing to offer as a last ditch attempt.
  7. While these are funny, I'm skeptical as to how many of them are real. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Some of those letter combinations just don't match what they were "supposed" to be.
  8. I liked it. I liked Todd Packer's cameo the most.
  9. In my experience, it's mostly the Cards fans online that are the ones reeking of entitlement and self satisfaction. I'm sure the majority at Busch Stadium are fine. There's quite a few that post on MLB Trade Rumors that back up my opinion.
  10. Yeah, there's no way I would want to see Melvin trade any of our starting pitchers for him (not even Narveson). I'm very content with our rotation as it is, plus having Rogers waiting in the wings. It wouldn't make sense to disrupt that for a slight upgrade.
  11. Saw this on Twitter and thought it was appropriate: @Fire_Coach_Kill Gary Sheffield's Hall of Fame plaque should have him in a cap with his own face on it, that was the only team Shef ever truely played for.
  12. A lot of Cardinals fans out there are still convinced Pujols is going to have a change of heart and end up re-signing with the team. I guess delusion has no bounds.
  13. Not sure how he can feel "left out" when they've tried to re-sign him multiple times and gotten nowhere. If he's upset he has no one to blame but himself and his agent.
  14. I think Portland makes the most sense. Yeah, it's in Seattle's "territory", but the two cities are about as close by as many other neighboring MLB teams. Would probably make for a good rivalry too.
  15. Well, Prince at that price is a pipe dream, but Greinke might be available for around that. I would definitely approach him and Marcum before Fielder at this point. I feel like Prince has had his chances to re-sign and has made it clear he intends to hit free agency.
  16. The funny thing is that I use Chrome about 95% of the time. I just happened to be at work last night (long story), and our computer only has IE there. It was the first time I had ever seen that.
  17. Apparently Gord Ash took a sort of dig at Prince Fielder while talking with the press, which Tom Haudricourt related: Gord Ash said this of Weeks: "He's made a statement. He wants to stay here." We all took that as a reference to Prince Fielder.
  18. I was wondering earlier, and no the answer is likely "no", but I wonder if this Weeks extension makes Fielder think twice about possibly re-signing with the Brewers. He's talked about the Brewers needing to keep Rickie around in the past.
  19. I kind of agree. $160 million is still a ton of money, but can you really justify not paying Pujols as much as Mauer, A-Rod, etc? It's not like STL couldn't afford to pay him $200 million+.
  20. Had some Leinenkugel's Limited on tap the other night. Pretty good. Nothing overly exciting, but a nice solid lager beer.
  21. IE 8. Hearts still there as of now.
  22. Weeks and the Brewers have apparently reached an agreement! Phoenix - The Brewers have reached tentative agreement with second baseman Rickie Weeks on a contract extension for four years plus an extension. There are still some details to be worked out but I expect an announcement sometime today. I don't know what the total money will be. I'll pass that along as soon as I get it.
  23. (sorry for not posting again last night) Yes, I'm still seeing them on IE this morning, but not on Chrome.
  24. That's what I was thinking. It always seems like the team doesn't show up when they are televised on FOX.
