  1. I would really try not to give up Odorizzi. If it took giving up Rogers and Jeffress together, I would probably do it, though somewhat reluctantly.
  2. Jon Heyman with the latest. Apparently it will be a three year deal with some sort of fourth year option. Says Jeter will get about $16 million per year.
  3. Well, the Rangers do seem adamant about re-signing him. But as well know, the Yankees can outbid for anyone they really want. I've read that the Yankees don't think Greinke would be a good fit due to his past issues (I think either Heyman or Rosenthal was saying that recently). I do wonder if this move opens up more opportunities for a Prince Fielder move? Maybe Toronto will want to keep pace and get interested? Not going to hold my breath, just a thought.
  4. Will he even be back after what he said earlier in the offseason? Well, he's on the 40 man roster. So unless he gets traded this winter, I'm going to assume he'll still be with the organization.
  5. I wouldn't send him any rent...but don't just assume he's not going to come to collect it at some point. I would sock that money away in a savings account if I were you.
  6. Why? We haven't lost anyone of any real huge value to the team.
  7. The rich always seem to keep getting richer in baseball, that's for sure.
  8. I agree. Once Cliff Lee signs, a lot of other moves are going to start happening.
  9. I'm requesting a Melvin Siting. It's been a weird hot stove season so far in that GM's are acting early. I wouldn't mind seeing Melvin start getting into the action seeing that he's been telling us all that he needs to make a lot of moves this offseason. What? Signing Brandon Boggs and that big Carlos Villanueva trade aren't enough for you? It does seem like the Brewers have been laying particularly low, though. Kind of frustrating as a fan. I expect the Winter Meetings (which start Monday) to be very telling.
  10. Provus is under contract with the Brewers through the 2012 season, so I don't think we have to worry about him leaving yet.
  11. A-Gone is the better all around player (compared to Prince), and it sounds like Boston is going to work out an extension with him as well. Sounds like the Padres will receive top prospect Casey Kelly and others.
  12. RyDogg, that's hilarious. Anyway, I didn't think they were going to tender him a contract anyway. They're going younger int he bullpen, and that should be a good thing.
  13. The Chicago Cubs legend died last night due to complications from bladder cancer. (Dec. 3) -- Ron Santo, the retired Chicago Cubs great who lost his legs to diabetes but continued to work as a broadcast analyst, has died at age 70.The former Cubs third baseman, who hit 342 home runs and drove in 1,331 runs during his 15-year major league career, died Thursday of complications from bladder cancer, family members told WGN-AM in a report cited by the Chicago Tribune. Santo worked for the station as a Cubs analyst. (removed link styling inserted by Chrome/Safari --1992)
  14. One other thought: I realize there's a four year age difference, but does this signing have any reflection on what Prince Fielder would command in free agency? The two are similar players in that they are both big bats with poor gloves, and both seem destined for the DH. Dunn probably has the better body type, though.
  15. I agree. It's not like anyone was going to be buying tickets to see Hinske in a Brewers uniform or something, other than his immediate friends and family.
  16. Yeah, you can kiss that Gavin Floyd idea goodbye, I'd think. There are probably other possible guys out there to trade for, but none that make sense in terms of dealing Fielder. At least that we've heard about yet.
  17. I think it's a good move by Williams. They needed a power hitter, and Dunn certainly gives them that. It's a big contract, but I don't think it's an outrageous one. I wish Melvin would take a cue from Williams and make some aggressive moves like he always seems to.
  18. Peter Gammons is saying on Twitter that it's 4 years/$56 million. Heyman and Rosenthal both saying it's basically done as well.
  19. Sounding more and more like Adam Dunn may be close to signing with the Chicago White Sox. Kenny Williams with another of his patented aggressive moves.
  20. My guess is the Brewers were only willing to give him a one year deal.
  21. After that final game of the season, however, Prince made comments on how great his teammates were, how great the Milwaukee fans were, and how he liked playing in Milwaukee. Well, I remember those platitudes as well, and those sound all well and fine. Maybe he was in a conciliatory mood since he knew he might be back in 2011. Still, if he wants to stay in Milwaukee so badly, why wouldn't he have Boras talking to Melvin right now about an extension? We heard that the two of them were at the GM meetings, but apparently nothing substantive came about, according to Doug Melvin. I don't see the point in holding onto empty hope that he's going to be a Brewer beyond 2011.
  22. Figuring out if they can extend Weeks or not will make the rest of the decisions this off-season somewhat easier.
  23. Actually it's been said he's looking for closer to Mark Teixeira money (like the $180 million range). He won't get that, but I could see some team paying him $140 million+ if he has a good season in 2011.
  24. I agree. I do not think I would trade either of them right now. They seem like two of the best options to crack the rotation in the near future (like in the next year or two), which is what we so desperately need. Rivas is up there as well. I really don't think too many teams would be able to beat a package of Lawrie, Jeffress, and Peralta. Maybe I'm wrong, as I'm not an MiLB expert.
  25. Lawrie, Jeffress, and Peralta should be more than enough of a serious starting point. Maybe one more low level guy (like an Arnett) or a throw in like Parra or Gomez. How many teams are seriously going to be able to beat a package like that?
