  1. Wasn't there some quote out there about him not liking Milwaukee? I could be wrong. At this point, he probably would...but it would likely take a 4 year deal, maybe at $15 million per year. I don't think that would be a horrible deal for the Brewers, but you had better be sure we can get some good pitching for Fielder before committing to Dunn.
  2. Yes, I agree. I thought his comments were pretty matter-of-fact. He seemed a lot more intelligent than he usually does on ESPN.
  3. The Lawrie to shortstop thing is never going to happen no matter how many times it gets suggested.
  4. Disappointing to see Escobar continue to struggle so much at the plate. I know you can't count this small sample too much, but it's not exactly encouraging either.
  5. I hear that. At least suggesting Jeffress is more realistic than thinking throwing in Parra or Villanueva is going to have any real value in a trade.
  6. There's no guarantee that Jeffress is our future closer either. He could just as easily flame out, get hurt, etc. I'm not saying that's a reason to trade him, but if Melvin could get Beckham and Floyd (or a comparable package) for Fielder/Jeffress, I think he at least has to keep an open mind.
  7. Tom Haudricourt has a pretty nice comment about this on his blog: So, with the Dodgers signing Jon Garland, they have their starting rotation for 2011 intact on Thanksgiving weekend: Kershaw, Billingsley, Kuroda, Lilly and Garland. Must be nice to have a formidable starting five all set for next year already. It just shows you how far the Brewers have to go to field a rotation anywhere close to that one. Yeah, a one year deal for Garland to be their #5 doesn't look too bad.
  8. Definitely sounds like a virus or at least some spyware/adware. Try running a program like Spybot, and have AVG run a scan. I would also recommend to stop using IE and switch to Firefox or Chrome. Seems like IE allows junk to get onto your PC more easily, at least in my experience.
  9. I did the same thing a few months back. I was feeling nostalgic for Star Wars and popped in Episode 1. I couldn't believe I actually enjoyed it when it was in theaters originally. The funny thing is that I think the special effects hold up very poorly compared to the effects in the original trilogy. All that CGI stuff is very jarring to look at, in my opinion.
  10. Craigslist is tricky. I've actually had some success selling items I no longer needed. I find when selling you always want to post pictures, and be descriptive but to the point when describing your item. I also usually have a bare bottom price in mind I'm willing to sell the item at. I'll knock off a few bucks if they're willing to come pick it up at my house, versus me meeting them somewhere.
  11. It may very well be. I don't think any team out there is seriously going to pony up $150 million+ like Boras and Fielder seem to be expecting.
  12. You're most likely right. I think a lot of us are just getting antsy because the state of next year's team seems so vague right now.
  13. I think Melvin tends to keep these types of negotiations pretty well under wraps. The announced extensions of Braun, Gallardo, and Hart all pretty much came out of nowhere.
  14. I assume this also means they won't be signing Eric Hinske.
  15. They can also get bonuses for awards (All-Star selection, MVP award, Cy Young, etc).
  16. Fielder doesn't have a no-trade clause, as far as I know. I think you were just saying that as a theoretical, though.
  17. If I'm not mistaken, Gomez has been having a decent showing in the Dominican Winter League thus far. Not saying that will translate into big league success, but he seems to be putting the work in.
  18. If the Twins non-tender him, that could still be a possibility I suppose.
  19. There has to be a "gentlemen's agreement" in place with this, I would assume.
  20. I have this on my Wii and it's still fun to play after all these years.
  21. I'd rather eat a can of Alpo cold than basically slot Washburn as the #4. I have nothing to add other than say this was hilarious. Basically sums up how I feel about Washburn as well.
  22. Yeah, definitely not a potential destination for Fielder now.
  23. According to Cot's, Pavano was paid $7 million in 2010, keeping in mind it was a one year deal.
  24. Similar experience here. About half an hour ago I took the dog out, right after I got home. Was sunny and fairly warm, like you said. Now it's completely overcast and rainy. I can definitely see why there's a tornado watch going on.
