  1. Still raking in AAA (OPS over 1.100), and still blocked from getting called up to KC. Boy, I'd love to see us make a deal for him. Would make trading Fielder and/or Hart a lot easier.
  2. Anyone else getting ESPN News instead of the Cards/Mariners game on ESPN?
  3. Just because of how our season is going, I predict he'll go seven innings, giving up only 2 earned runs on 4 hits and 2 walks. 5 K's.
  4. I really can't see the Mets parting with Davis at this point, though I would do that trade in a second.
  5. Ozzie Guillen as Brewers manager would be epic. I would love to see it happen.
  6. The team also just drafted a first baseman (Hunter Morris in the fourth round) who sounds to be pretty promising. Granted he is probably at least a couple years off from cracking the majors, and needs to be signed yet, but it isn't like they don't have options down the line. They could even sign a guy like Lyle Overbay as a cheap one year stopgap or something. My point is that it isn't that hard to find a decent first baseman, as long as we accept the next guy inevitably isn't going to match Prince's offensive numbers.
  7. Is the difference in those splits possibly due to pitchers working Prince differently when runners are on base?
  8. My guess is that the Brewers are trying to ride out this month, hoping for a miracle turnaround. When that most likely doesn't happen and it gets to be around the All-Star break, I think we could see Macha get dismissed. I hope Sveum gets a chance again instead of Randolph, though. I just think this team needs a more energetic manager, and I don't see that in Willie at all.
  9. Dexter Bobo has to be one of the better baseball names I've heard in quite a while.
  10. Now there is apparently a reality TV series in the works about the family. I think that validates what I said earlier.
  11. I think the big problem with Macha is he is still trying to do all he can to "win now", when it's becoming rapidly obvious this team is not in any sort of contention. Hard to blame him, as he's probably trying to keep his job, but the directive should be coming from upper management soon. I, like sheethead, also find myself becoming apathetic. Hard to get that excited bout any team 11 games under .500, though. Hopefully some trades will happen sooner than later and we'll actually have some more substantive things to talk about.
  12. I think Crew makes a good point that giving up prospects is probably a bigger immediate concern for the Rays than the financial aspect of a Fielder trade.
  13. I would be OK with trading Weeks as well as Hart and Fielder (assuming decent returns can be had, especially for Prince). I just am not sold that Weeks will ever be the special player some were predicting, and he has been pretty inconsistent so far this year, both on offense and defense. He is also a free agent after next season, so some sort of decision will have to be made. A 2B isn't really that hard to find. Look at what Felipe Lopez signed for this off-season. We might still have Counsell around next year (assuming he is willing to come back for a similar price), and he could fill in part time as well.
  14. Transitioning from 3B to 1B probably isn't that difficult, that's why.
  15. I'd rather see them try McGehee at 1B and see if Gamel can stick at the hot corner.
  16. Ted Lilly doesn't deserve to have a no hitter. Come on ChiSox.
  17. I have never been sailing and think I have a pretty good grasp of how incredibly dangerous the ocean can be. I think this was an obvious publicity stunt, and her parents should be ashamed.
  18. This poll was taken after the Gallaraga "almost perfect" game, so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. No real surprises in the "worst umpires", though.
  19. Maybe he read this thread. Gigantic solo home run just a minute ago.
  20. And just like that Gallardo's pretty good start becomes a lousy one. Two RBI single with two outs, by the opposing pitcher. Ouch.
  21. Hard to write in glowing terms about a prospect drafted six years ago who has had several injury and personal issues. I don't think the move to the outfield is the end of the line for Salome, but he is looking closer to a bust than a sure thing at this point.
  22. Because any other agent would probably look at the potential barren wasteland market that is out there for Fielder after 2011, and let Fielder sign a long term extension. Boras simply refuses to do that, even if it is bad for his client in the long run. He doesn't look at each client individually, he looks at his client list as a "portfolio." If one gets burned, he doesn't care; as long as he keeps coming out ahead in the long run.
  23. Did a police officer issue the citation, or was it one of those camera things?
