  1. Stern has been hitting fairly well in Nashville so far this year, so hopefully he'll be a decent addition for now.
  2. Kind of surprising his teammates would blab about him napping in the clubhouse during a game. Bit embarrassing for Griffey and the team all around.
  3. I was just wondering that RyDogg. I don't know if he's even pitching differently than he has in the past, he's just not getting the results so far this season. The escape artist routine seems to be lost.
  4. Oh, no doubt. I stated earlier I felt the team needed to win at least three games after the disastrous San Diego series to salvage the road trip. They did much better than that, and I feel more at ease with Macha right now, especially after seeing the Crew sweep the D-Backs. It seems like his bullpen management has gotten somewhat better after being questionable earlier in the season. Maybe guys are just performing better though.
  5. I agree with that. As great as he is, a power hitting first baseman is more easily replaced than an ace pitcher, as we saw when Sheets and Sabathia left.
  6. I have to admit this had me laughing pretty well.
  7. I'm not going tonight but have tickets for the next two games. Would like to see the Crew start off with a win after their nice road trip.
  8. Yeah, I agree. The comments by Sabathia seemed out of character, at least based on what we've seen from him when he was in Milwaukee. Kind of disappointing, honestly.
  9. We're really going to resort to calling Bobby Cox a "dumb manager" now? Or maybe you're just joking. I can't tell.
  10. I hope not. I really don't miss that guy. From what I've heard second hand, he's gotten worse since taking a job with the D-Backs.
  11. Garland has been getting better results, but I'm guessing things will even out as the season progresses. Either way, the different between the two during this past off-season did not seem very great. Basically a coin flip and Melvin arguably picked the wrong side. I can't criticize him too much even if Garland ends up being the better pitcher at the end of the season..
  12. I understand that you think Ken Macha is the antichrist of baseball managers, but this seems a bit over the top.
  13. There's no way they release Suppan unless he really falters soon in his relief role.
  14. We were talking about that last night, and I was mentioning how it will be like Braun's home run in '08 against the Cubs, where the sidebars are always blurry. Maybe the AZ feed was in high def and they can use that?
  15. The one thing with the Angels is that Hideki Matsui seems to have cooled off a bit. If the Angels come back (four games under .500 at the moment) and are still in it later this summer, they could be looking to bolster their offense. It seems like they could really only use Prince as a DH though, since Kendry Morales isn't doing bad as their 1B right now.
  16. Yes, and just to be clear, here are the details of Oswalt's current contract (from Cot's): 2010:$15M, 2011:$16M, 2012:$16M club option ($2M buyout) - Oswalt may opt out of 2012 option & take a reduced buyout. - Full no-trade clause. So that's a pretty hefty chunk of change to pay a good starter who is already 32 and seemed to have a somewhat down year last season. I just don't see how it works out, especially since the Astros probably wouldn't be motivated to give the Brewers any salary relief, being in the same division and all. As an aside, if the Mariners don't bounce back, I wonder if Cliff Lee could be more attainable. Doesn't sound like he plans to sign an extension there without testing free agency.
  17. SDOwen, Dillard is currently carrying a 3.31 ERA in AAA, with a WHIP under 1.00. Not sure how you can say he "sucks." It's clear you have your opinions, and that is fine, but you could be a little bit more constructive in your criticisms.
  18. Well, after his last outing, it did appear that something was wrong with Hawkins. Hopefully he can heal up and come back as effective as he was last year, or close to it. Stetter certainly deserves the opportunity as well.
  19. Being reported by Haudricourt and McCalvy. Hawkins apparently has "right shoulder weakness."
  20. It basically just summarizes what a lot of people have been saying, that the Astros should probably do a sell off but might not because of their owner. It also says that the Astros could eat some of Oswalt (or Berkman's salary) and demand high prospects, or trade them at face value and get only lower prospects. Not sure if we'd really be a good fit for a trade with the Astros. I also don't know if taking on Oswalt's whole contract would be a good idea, although his 2012 option could be bought out for $2 million.
  21. Well, there you go. He did it.
  22. All right, a triple and a homer tonight so far for Gerut. I'm on the bandwagon now. He's won me over.
  23. That is very freaky. I think it will haunt me, to be honest. I did enjoy hearing Jenkins talking with Schroeder and Coshun. I hope he can get a baseball job somewhere in some capacity.
