  1. I can't get your link to work? Anyway, hopefully it's nothing too serious going on with his family.
  2. Is there something wrong with bringing him to the majors as a reliever, and then possibly converting him to a starter later on? It's happened before.
  3. I also did not purchase a 9-pack this season as I did in the last two years, though I have the benefit of getting tickets often from my dad, who shares season tickets with some guys. Glad I did not buy my own ticket plan though. I've already been to three games this season, and two of the three were pretty tough losses (the Stavinoha one knee homer, and the final game of the Cubs sweep).
  4. The Cubs have a huge national fanbase. I guess there are a lot of sadomasochistic baseball fans. As far as the Indians, maybe it's not fair for me to say, not being Native American; but I think that logo is so goofy looking, it's hard to take seriously one way or another.
  5. I'm glad I fell asleep by the 4th inning of this one (I guess now that I recently turned the big 3-0, I can't stay up late like I used to). Sounds like the pitching did not get good results, but wasn't necessarily terrible. Hard to complain about the pitching when your team's offense puts up a goose egg, anyway.
  6. Is that really much different that what Uecker does?Yeah, if Bob was talking about something like that, he would do it in a humorous and entertaining fashion, at least. Homer would be overly analytical and probably put some people to sleep pretty quickly.
  7. Could be. You never know what the off-season might bring, though.
  8. Maybe they are hated because they've let most of their good players leave?
  9. That would be nice, but he's going to have some tough competition from the likes of Zimmerman, Sandoval, and Wright. As far as 3Bs in the NL with 50 or more ABs, only Sandoval has a higher OPS than McGehee right now, though.
  10. If that's true, it should be a correctable issue. I also am wondering why Peterson hasn't picked up on it yet.
  11. That sucks man. People should make sure they actually aren't going to use tickets like that before selling them. Pretty lame.
  12. Yes, Hoffman missed most of April last season on the DL.
  13. I've been thinking more and more about this. If you look around at most playoff teams...and not just teams that squeak in, but teams that make it to the LCS and the World Series, they usually have a very good combo of 3/4 type hitters, a legit ace, and then a very good #1/2 type starter in the second spot of the rotation. We have the offensive combo in Braun/Fielder, but I don't think Gallardo is ever going to be the legit ace some were hoping for. I think he is more like a very good #2. If Melvin could have somehow swung a trade for a guy like Halladay or Peavey, or some younger guy (can't think of names off hand that may have been available), we would be sitting much better off this year. A playoff rotation of something like Peavey/Gallardo/Wolf would not be bad at all. Of course if we traded for one of those aces that were moved last year, we might not have signed Wolf, but then again we might have let Suppan go and not signed Davis either. I just think our window of opportunity is shutting faster than Melvin and company could have envisioned, and it's closing with every series the Brewers let slip away this year. Melvin better not kid himself this summer. If the team isn't sitting in legitimate contention by the All-Star break (and I don't mean kind of hovering around .500 like last year), then it's time for rebuild mode. Trade Fielder and any other expensive pieces you can, and make the potential rebuild much shorter than it would be trying to make another half-baked contention run in 2011 with the same roster we have in place right now.
  14. Yes, I hope he is doing fine and his family is well. It is just sometimes frustrating the lack of information we get on these types of situations. It just seems really odd.
  15. I am not really crazy about Ibanez. I think he's more likely to be average or bad than really good next season. I am kind of hoping Gamel or maybe even McGehee get moved to 1B, assuming Fielder is gone before next season. May as well save some money at 1B.
  16. I get that, but that's just not how this team works right now as far as managing the roster. Blame Melvin or Macha for that, but they aren't going to let Suppan go after he was "OK" out of the bullpen the other day.
  17. It seems like Macha already tried the low pressure situation with Hoffman, but putting him in that 20-0 blowout last week against the Pirates. Just saying, it isn't like he hasn't tried that yet.
  18. Are you sending the Wii to a receiver, and then the receiver to the TV? I had this issue where I had the Wii hooked up to my surround sound receiver via component cables, and then was sending a single HDMI cable to my plasma HDTV. I got delays, as well as the picture cutting in and out. I ended up hooking the Wii up directly to the TV via the component video cables, and then it worked fine. Only minor annoyance is that I have to change inputs on the TV, where as before I could keep the TV on one set input. I really wish they had designed the Wii with HDTV in mind. It's very archaic in terms of video and sound compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Just a minor nitpick, I guess.
  19. They won't cut Suppan with Hoffman being so shaky, though I'd like to see Stetter come back up. As far as a position player, Heether seems like a good option if Edmonds does indeed have to go on the DL.
  20. I wouldn't say I'm demoralized, but my enthusiasm has waned quite a bit. It just doesn't look too good when your team goes 1-5 on a home stand, against division opponents. The one saving grace is that other than the Cards, the rest of the division isn't playing well either. On the plus side (if you can call it that), if the team is out of contention, this summer's trade deadline could be extremely interesting.
  21. This is what I was alluding to when I said it might be for the best for Salome to come back and start in AA again to prove his commitment. What I meant by commitment isn't necessarily that he isn't committed to playing...but it's worrisome that he barely played at all in winter ball, and has already missed a significant amount of time of this season. Lucroy deserves to start in AAA at this point, I don't know if you can say the same thing about Salome just based on the amount of playing time he's been able to achieve since last fall.
  22. Because it would basically be another New York team. It could be in New Jersey or somewhere in New York.
  23. Well, we just went 1-5 on the home stand. I agree it's unlikely they'll play that badly, but with this team lately, it's hard to say.
  24. I don't know, but I do know that I've been done with Macha since last season and I'm approaching that point with Melvin as well. Well, at least Macha seems to be acknowledging the issue as it relates to Hoffman: “If we have a chance to win (Thursday), perhaps it will be somebody else at the end,” he said.
  25. With all the late start West Coast games coming up, that's easily done for me. Just not very enjoyable to watch lately.
