  2. The ax has to fall on Doug Melvin really soon, doesn't it? I mean, how can the owner keep watching this abysmal brand of baseball and say, "Well, it's not the GM's fault?" If nothing else, change has to happen to signal to the fans that, "This is unacceptable and we're going to make changes to get better."
  3. It wasn't enough for them to ruin one city with their brand of baseball.
  4. Gee, I'm really sorry I missed watching this one last night. /blue
  5. I agree that Doug Melvin has had some successes. You are also correct that the deck will always be stacked against a team like Milwaukee, at least to a degree. However, that hasn't exactly been a secret for about the past 20 years of MLB history. If nothing else, Melvin brought this team up from being a total failure and a joke, to being a relevant and respectable franchise. That said, I've been saying for the past two off-seasons that it was time to rebuild. I think it's now time for Melvin to move onto other things as well. He does bear some responsibility for the team currently being 24-41. How many other GMs would even still have a job with a similar record? Frankly, I thought he'd either be fired or step down right after the draft this past week. Put him on the Brewers Wall of Fame if you want...heck, you can even give him a statue outside Miller Park someday. I don't care. Just bring in a new GM who is willing to take on a full rebuild, and who will also be straight up with ownership that we won't be winning anything for at least a couple years. I just hope Mr. Attanasio is willing to fully commit to what is really needed. I firmly believe our fanbase is strong enough to still support the team through a couple middling seasons, as long as there is some real plan that is evident along with a renewed silver lining.
  6. I pretty much agree. I would have pretty much every single MLB player on the table. We aren't winning anything in the next couple seasons, so why sit around pretending we're going to "build around" Lucroy/Segura/Peralta/whoever?
  7. The other side is, why not just keep pitching Lohse at this point? We are playing for nothing at this point. There isn't someone just ready to step in who is clearly better at this point. Just keep trotting him out and hope he somehow can string together 2 or 3 decent starts, and maybe someone trades for him. We won't get much for him, but so what? He's a sunk cost at this point.
  8. Let's see if Lohse can lower that ERA somewhat and maybe establish a bit of trade value. Not holding my breath, though.
  9. I think a lot of people just don't remember how bad Braun was defensively at 3B. It wasn't just a matter of "a few errors". I guess I can't blame people for forgetting, since that was eight seasons ago already...he really just did not have the instincts to play the position. Braun has even admitted he couldn't handle it, and doesn't want to ever play the position again. Can we please drop this idea? This is coming from someone who has been one of the biggest Braun fans around. My dog is named "Brauny", if that means anything.
  10. No more talk of "political correctness" or "liberals" in this thread or it's getting locked. Those are the rules. If you want to talk politics, the BF.net Political Scene is the place. http://brewerfanpoliticalscene.yuku.com/
  11. Nope, not tired of it at all, personally. I like a manager who is willing to shake things up regularly. If the team is in first place? Then sure, you can leave guys in their spots as they continue to produce. But that's not the situation we have in 2015.
  12. Jon Morosi tweeted that the Mets and Brewers have had some preliminary talks, and the Mets are interested in position players, so there may be more to this after all.
  13. As the game evolves, so do safety measures. Back in the day, batters didn't wear helmets. I'm sure when MLB forced all players to wear them, some people said it was unnecessary, or it was "ruining the game" or whatever. Times change.
  14. That is my biggest fear as well...they'll deal Parra, Ramirez, and maybe Lohse or Garza (if anyone will take them) in July. Then during the off-season, they sign an aging veteran 2B to platoon with Scooter, acquire a veteran starting pitcher, and then claim that they've "retooled" for 2016.
  15. I said no clutch hits. Didn't say they didn't make contact. I didn't watch but caught some on the radio.
  16. It wouldn't bother me. I have sat behind the netting behind home plate a few times, and frankly I never really even noticed it.
  17. No clutch hits and no runs. Ah well. Let the sell-off begin, please.
  18. Did they mean "Wisconsin State Patrol?" That is odd phrasing they used.
  19. The Paul Molitor managed Minnesota Twins are currently in first place in the AL Central. Good to see "The Ignitor" doing well. I still say he should have a statue outside Miller Park.
  20. Well, we are still trying to claw to that epic 20 win mark. Seriously, how does Doug Melvin still have his job?
  21. Not sure Taylor was our worst. Sal Bando was pretty horrible as GM.
  22. Kind of excited to hear how Wagner pitches today. I honestly didn't really know much about him until he got called up. Hopefully he makes the best of this opportunity.
  23. "Miller Park Beer Man: The Simulator."
  24. I was at this game...what a stinker. Plus traffic on I-94 was terrible, so we got there just after my friend had thrown out the first pitch (of course). At least we got to see a couple friends we hadn't spent time with in quite a while.
  25. Well said. Activity on the board as a whole is down (or at least it seems to be, Casey would probably be able to say for sure)...that usually happens when the team is going through long bad streaks. There's definitely plenty to be negative about.
