  1. Yeah, I do agree with that. I remember he even claimed he would play for the league minimum. It reeked of collusion, and I don't understand why it's taken him so long to file an action on it. Edit: Just read through the OP, and now I see the reasoning.
  2. No it isn't. There were some valid concerns raised about Ryan Braun as a player and his contract. Personally, no, I don't think his contract is the worst in franchise history. And I do think he's showing that he'll continue to be a good player for the foreseeable future.
  3. To a point, yes. Over the last ten years, going to Miller Park has become a "cool" thing to do, with tailgating being a huge part of it. Look how many buses loaded with people from bars and such you see at any given game nowadays. You didn't used to see that pre-2006 or so. If they do decide to trade off some guys and can successfully sell it as a retooling/reloading instead of the dreaded "rebuilding" word, the franchise should be fine.
  4. I'm friends with a guy on Facebook who is about a die hard baseball fan as you can find, and yesterday he spelled it "Craig Council."
  5. Greinke looks like he's ready to be cast in the next Avengers movie with that look.
  6. Everyone, I'll just remind you all that condescension and name calling are not tolerated on this forum. We can have a discussion about topics like this without it devolving into some kind of Yahoo sports chat. Carry on.
  7. Source?? From glancing at Twitter, it looks like Buster Olney is saying the Brewers "aren't willing to trade Lucroy." I wonder if that means they are firm in not trading him, or if they've received some middling calls and offers on him. From an ownership perspective, I could see them wanting to keep him around as the "face of the franchise" even if they do decide to do a full on rebuild. He's under a team friendly deal for two more seasons (2017 is a club option).
  8. Ken Rosenthal with a good article about the managerial change, including some quotes from Melvin and talk of a possible "succession plan" for Doug Melvin to step down from GM duties: http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/milwaukee-brewers-fire-manager-ron-roenicke-questionable-should-have-done-it-2014-collapse-050415
  9. Press conference will be here starting at 10:30 AM CT: http://m.brewers.mlb.com/mil/video/v100941283/brewers-press-conference
  10. Ken Rosenthal is reporting it's indeed Craig Counsell getting the nod.
  11. I would think of 1 time you did. It's the only thing I remember about him. The mound charge vs Greinke that resulted in Zack's collarbone being broken. It certainly was the talk of BFnet when it occured. Oh man, I'd completely forgotten about that one. You're right; I do remember that one.
  12. I really don't get why it would be Counsell. Guy has no coaching experience. Wouldn't make sense to give him a multi year deal.
  13. I think I would have a massive heat attack if this happened. Like, seriously, no one would have to wonder why I suddenly disappeared from this board forever.
  14. Carlos Quentin...I can honestly say I did not pay any attention to him during at all during his entire career.
  15. re: Gomez and Lucroy, Gomez is probably coming off the DL just today, and Lucroy will still be on it for a while. How many teams are going to trade for a guy who is hurt?
  16. Hopefully Fiers can get it going and put up a decent performance.
  17. Easy to play armchair GM but we'd never know how he would do in Milwaukee with having Narron here. Well, you can say that about a lot of situations, but his numbers in LAA speak for themselves. .739 OPS last season and .745 so far this year. He is 33 now, so I'm not sure how much difference a hitting coach would or will make.
  18. Remember when a lot of people said the Brewers should sign him because of his connections to Jerry Narron, etc? Glad we avoided that one.
  19. Well, Braun hit a homer last night, so at least it's some sign that he's coming around.
  20. I just hope Attanasio is finally realistic about where this team is. 4-16 record should be a wakeup call...but will it be? Or is he still hoping this team can "figure it out" and go on a 10 game winning streak in order to be somewhat relevant again this season?
  21. A World Series pennant Well, to be fair, he does already have a World Series ring...just from the wrong team.
  22. No. This would be close to if the Brewers were to retire Geoff Jenkins' jersey.
