  1. That bit from the Marlins feed just made it on SportsCenter. The guy seems to enjoy getting those homers, that's for sure.
  2. Another NY/NJ baseball team would hurt the Yankees, and that's OK in my book. Otherwise, Portland should finally get an MLB team. I think they would rabidly support a team, and it would take away the threat the owners have always had of "We'll move our team to Portland if you don't give in to our demands!" Of course, for that reason they might never put a team there. A team somewhere in the Deep South would be kind of neat to see, since that region doesn't have any baseball teams really nearby, but I doubt economically they could support a baseball team.
  3. But then what? Would that mean Hall would play shortstop?
  4. Such weird timing on this...I assume we'll be hearing more on this story tomorrow.
  5. Yeah, go into your local video store and look around...there's quite a few of these cheap cgi direct to video movies nowadays.
  6. The fact that the Brewers are a good team now that could help him reach his goal of 600 saves doesn't hurt, either.
  7. I guess I would probably look at it this off-season. See how Rickie plays the rest of this season, and then if it makes sense, do an extension at that point. Really, I would expect at least one of Hardy, Hart, or Weeks to get extended. We all know Fielder probably won't be here beyond 2011 (his final arby year), but I would have to think someone will step up to the plate and sign a deal like Braun did.
  8. Chorizo, I kind of like that idea. It does get old seeing the Brewers play the same teams, especially bad ones like the Reds and Pirates. Yeah, it's nice to beat up on them, but it's not a compelling ticket buy. It would be nice to see teams like the Braves, Phillies, Mets, or Dodgers more than once a year at Miller Park. If I had my way, I'd probably take it a step further and do away with divisions completely, and just have the top 4 or 6 or whatever teams make the playoffs from each league.
  9. I think a trade with Boston could be feasible at some point since the teams' needs kind of match up, but I don't see why Melvin would have any real interest in Penny, like I said earlier.
  10. Huh? You mean move them to the AL West? Otherwise I'm not following you.
  11. Could it just be they're doing a "free preview" of those channels? Charter occasionally does that to get you to subscribe.
  12. No, an NBA or NHL style playoff would be terrible for baseball. I think you go with four divisions in each league (North, South, East, West), and have one WC from each league. The only problem with that is I'm not sure what you do with a 10 team playoff system. I think when you have more than a third of the league getting in, it starts to get pretty watered down. If they go to 32 teams, I would hope 10 or 12 teams would be the absolute maximum amount of playoff teams.
  13. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/05/08/mlb.owners/index.html These are usually fun. Mark Attanasio is not listed. edit: fixed link (jw)
  14. I don't get why the Reds let Dunn walk. Given what he signed for with Washington, he would have been a huge asset to the Reds this year.
  15. Yeah...if he's willing to play for league minimum (he's still getting paid by Philadelphia), I would be surprised if something didn't happen here eventually.
  16. As an aside, there was a lot of talk at the beginning of the season that they are giving serious consideration to adding a couple more playoff spots. Maybe there will be more talk about that this off-season.
  17. They don't want to have interleague play throughout the whole season. If it was an even 15/15 split, that's what they would have to do. Yeah, it's always bothered me that the Brewers are in the only 6 team division as well. My guess would be someday MLB will expand again, to an even 32 teams, and then things will get balanced out more evenly.
  18. Well, the NL Central is shaping up to be tougher than some expected, at least right now. Only division to have four teams above .500 right now, and of course we always have to deal with being in the only 6 team division. I think the Brewers have a chance to take 1st place, but it's not going to be an easy ride. I think given how this team is playing, this could be a really special season, though. Edit: It's also worth noting that the Reds and Brewers are currently tied for possession of the NL Wild Card.
  19. That is great if you live in the immediate Milwaukee area, but we live way out in Jefferson County, so can't always plan that far ahead to be at an establishment or search for free parking. Plus it's not really practical if it's a weeknight game and you have to get home for work the next day. I get your point, though.
  20. Braun is a better fielder than Soriano, in my opinion. Probably better than Chris Duncan, too.
  21. Or maybe he just meant that if Lawrie doesn't have what it takes defensively to play second base, he could be moved to the outfield, or another position. That said, I'm not opposed to giving Weeks an extension, assuming it's reasonable. It would be dangerous to give him a big long term deal based on less than two months of solid success, though.
  22. Duffy seems to at lest be serving some purpose on this team though. He is good defensively and brings some speed, and at least has a few hits. Not saying he needs to be kept around forever, but he's doing an OK job at least.
  23. I just can't come up with a good reason to have a catcher start two games of a double header. Maybe if it was Mike Piazza in his prime and you needed the offense, but Kendall isn't any kind of real offensive weapon. I still say Mike Rivera must have hit on Yost's wife or something, the way he seemed to collect dust on the bench.
  24. You'd have to hold onto the house for almost three years to make the re-financing even worth it. So I guess it comes down to how long you realistically think you'll be at that house. I'm not expert, but I guess I'd at least shop around? $4300 just seems really high, especially given the current housing market.
  25. One of the things I love about our nine pack is that aside from getting Opening Day free, we can buy discounted preferred parking. Maybe not a big deal for some people, but we come from well outside the Milwaukee area, so that's a big deal for us. Having that parking taken care of in advance is a nice piece of mind thing.
