  1. Yeah, I found the Sunday crowd to almost be sedate to a point. Cheering during big moments in the game, but generally pretty quiet.
  2. My opinion of Ned is that he did a good job turning the Brewers from a terrible perneially loser team into a .500 or slightly above type team, but didn't seem to show that he had what it took to get them "over the hump" to the playoffs. There's no doubt in my mind that if he hadn't been fired when he was, the team would have missed the playoffs yet again. You can't necessarily blame that on Yost, but that's my honest opinion.
  3. Nope, I wouldn't. We need Stetter much more than we need a Brad Penny type at this point.
  4. I think saying "hanging by a thread" might be a bit of an overstatement, but Nelson certainly can't feel he has a secure spot on the MLB roster at the moment.
  5. Yeah, I agree...Brewers games are advertised as family friendly events. It shouldn't be like going to a Hell's Angels clubhouse. You should be able to take your kids there without worrying about a fist fight breaking out in front of you. Though I think sticking to the family sections or springing for better seats might be wise, in some cases. I drink at the games (usually one or two beers), but I can say with full confidence that I don't act like a drunken idiot. I'm there to enjoy the baseball game, first and foremost. Maybe it's because I learned long ago how to pace myself, and know how annoying being a bellowing idiot is. I don't get why some people can't grasp that concept. If you just want to get drunk and enjoy the "atmosphere", stay in the parking lot. Edit: I'm no prude either...I cuss occasionally...I just don't see why some people can't tone it down when they are in a public place. It's not like your really original vocabulary is impressing anyone.
  6. Wow, I think I have to try that one. Looks really good, with the pretzel bun. Do most grocery stores carry pretzel buns?
  7. Yeah, if we eat salary, I'd guess maybe they would take him back. His numbers are better than Penny's at this point. (Also, not to nitpick, but can we fix the spelling in the thread title?)
  8. Just to respond to these two things: - Braun's injury scare, as you call it, seems to have been a non-issue. He was the NL Player of the Week last week. I don't think it's time to be panicking about possible replacements. - Again, Gamel has never played the OF before. What's to say he's just going to make this instant transition to the OF? Duffy or Nelson can fill in if need be. Yes, the production won't be there, but at least they've played the position before. And as far as Corey Hart, it sounds like the Brewers have completely dropped any idea of him playing CF, if you go off what's been said in the media. I would guess we're either going to see Cameron re-signed, Lorenzo Cain called up, or a cheap one year guy signed for next year.
  9. Ironically, we went to Opening Day and didn't have any big problems...I think since there were way more Brewers fans than Cubs fans, the Brewers fans were actually the ones who were a bit more rowdy. There was a group of completely in the bag frat boy type Brewers fans in the row in front of us. One of these guys started whipping around peanuts, one of which grazed my wife. I told him "Watch it," a couple times. He must have took it under advisement, because he disappeared for most of the rest of the game. Really, sometimes you just have to show some backbone and people like that get in line pretty quick. Failing that, get an usher.
  10. Lasik and losing weight could have both been a help to Bill Hall. I don't think anyone expects Hall to play like it's 2006, but it would be nice if his numbers end up falling somewhere roughly in the middle between his '06 and '08 lines. If he keeps playing above average defense, that would be a great help to this team down the stretch.
  11. I agree. Penny doesn't seem like he'd be that much of an upgrade over what we have now...only way I would see this happening soon would be a sudden injury.
  12. It's an interesting idea like you said...at this point though, where would you even put him? I suppose Parra would have to move to the bullpen, if it did happen. I would think the price to get Penny wouldn't be that high, which would be kind of nice. But he hasn't been very good so far this year, either...6.90 ERA and 1.76 WHIP after 6 starts.
  13. At least now the amount of Brewers fans are clearly overshadowing the Cubs fans at most of these games. I would think this should partly help cut down on the amount of incidents.
  14. Yeah, I hate that too...if you're going to try to sit somewhere else, fine, I guess...but don't pull the whole "I didn't know" act when you get caught. Just get up and move all ready so the rest of us can actually watch the game. Really, with how many tickets get sold at Miller Park these days, I don't know why anyone would bother trying to sit in another seat. Chances are someone else already has a ticket for it. It's not like this is County Stadium back in the dark years where there might be one or two other people in the terrace section you're sitting in.
  15. Is there any rough rule for how much value an item being "game used" adds to the price of the item? I'm just curious...I would like to pick up some game used bats or jerseys eventually, and prices seem to be all over the place. For example, I saw a guy on ebay selling a Sabathia game used Brewers jersey, and was asking $1400 for it, which seems crazy. I've seen others in the Brewers store going for more in the $300-400 range. Just curious and thought maybe some of the experts on here could chime in.
  16. Well, my sinuses usually get bad this time of year, but more due to seasonal allergies. A benadryl or something usually clears mine right up.
  17. They also were selling a t-shirt in the team store that said "Curse the Cubs" and had a picture of a goat with the Brewers logo on it. So the "taunting shirts" thing is indeed going both ways, it would seem.
  18. I remember the ChiSox games at County Stadium being way worse in the late '80s/early '90s in terms of fights in the stands. We were in the loge level yesterday (section 215), and I didn't notice anything. There were a handful of Cubbie fans in our section, and of course they were bellowing when the Cubs won, but other than that weren't that bad.
  19. Yeah, the Ohka/Spivey trade ended up working out well for the Brewers...it just necessitated bringing up Weeks, which may have been a bit premature. Though that the time pretty much every Brewers fan I talked to or saw post on this board thought he was ready.
  20. I guess I don't honestly see what's so offensive about anything he's done or said in relation to the whole of baseball and pro sports in 2009.
  21. Somewhat frustrating game. Just one of thoese ones where our team made a few too many mistakes, and just got outplayed a bit. No real clutchiness displayed. Did get this at the game though: http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs017.snc1/4513_171729220371_676075371_6907527_5298600_n.jpg Quite possibly the best piece of Brewers merchandise ever.
  22. Lesson I've taken from other teams' fan websites and announcers in the past week: Ryan Braun is the devil.
  23. Yeah, I think they were. I didn't get that good a look to be honest.
  24. No...actually with two younger kids (I assume his), near the video games. I saw him and gave him kind of a smirk and a nod...he gave a nod back and then they left pretty quick after that. So that kind of reinforced my thought that it was him.
