  1. I remember being at that game and thinking "Who the heck is Mosquera?" He struck out or flew out as well (can't remember exactly). I think he was sent back down soon after that. Looking him up, what's weird is that he was with the Blue Jays in '96 and '97, and wasn't back in the majors until that short stint with the Brewers in '05.
  2. But it might be a great deal for a large market team, or one with a real need for a power hitting first baseman...though for the record, I'd probably be inclined to hope the Brewers don't trade him until after next season.
  3. Come on Soup, let's cut something off that ERA right now (yes, I know ERA isn't everything). I also hope the offense enjoyed their one day vacation yesterday. Time to get back to work.
  4. Seems like things are going well so far. I think people were panicking a bit early on this one.
  5. Man, it just gets worse and worse for that guy, doesn't it?
  6. I agree with Xcellence. If you're going to sell high on Cameron right now, you had better get more return than a very shaky starting pitcher who may or may not rebound.
  7. Fielder is bad salary? I think he's going to come around and perform similar to how he's done in the past. If he does that, I don't see how it can be considered bad salary. I do think Hall is under appreciated. He never had the hype of the other young guys like Weeks and Hardy, though there was probably some reason for that. His great season in '06 was disregarded as a fluke, and even though he hasn't been horrible since then, everyone seems to make him their whipping mule when this team is struggling. Now that he's playing well again, people are saying we should trade the guy so the Brewers can bring up someone who can't possibly match his defense at the moment.
  8. I think there is something to protecting the players...you just have to pick your spots to do it, very carefully. There's nothing to say we can't still bean one of their guys down the line...maybe late in the season when the Brewers have secured a playoff berth and the Pirates have secured another losing season would be an ideal time.
  9. 18-10. There's some weaker teams in there they _should_ be able to beat up on.
  10. I'd swear it looks like he's holding the bat out more, for some reason.
  11. Well, usually the complaints about sportsmanship (or lack thereof) tend to be pretty one sided. I remember when the Cardinals were mad at the Brewers about something last year (might have been Braun or Fielder related), and then they were whipping their helmets around and breaking bats because they were losing.
  12. They're just jealous of the Brewers at this point. It used to be the two teams were co-bottom dwellers in the division...I remember how adamant they were about stopping the Brewers from getting a winning record back in '05, and they were at least partly successful in that. Now the Brewers have moved so far ahead of them as a franchise it's not even funny anymore.
  13. Yeah, even FSN last night had the game listed as being on "620 WTMJ." So radio only, I believe. Too bad because I will actually be at home most of the day today and wouldn't mind being able to watch...guess I'll be listening to Bob and Cory.
  14. Yeah, this has been a nice tear the Brewers have been on. I wonder where all the doom & gloomers have gone who were saying the season was over a couple weeks ago? Here's another Pirate fan gem: http://www.pittsburghspor...topic.php?f=1&t=1851
  15. I would like to see them win tonight, get a big lead going in the game tomorrow, and then use someone like Julio to drill someone in the 8th inning, right when their guard is down and they're already demoralized.
  16. I think he is definitely pressing right now. Hopefully once he gets that first hit, he'll relax a bit, like other mentioned. But right now I don't think worrying about the bench is a big priority. We're winning right now, and that's all that matters. I don't think we've really lost any games due to lack of production from the bench guys.
  17. Actually, I think the latest reports say he will only be out 4-6 weeks, so that will hopefully give him plenty of time to get back "on track" in the minors.
  18. Yeah, I just found it amusing that Pirates fans of all people would be putting down the Brewers. Yeah, I realize the Brewers were once the Pilots (for one whole year) and have never won the World Series...but I'd rather be in the situation now where our team was actually in the playoffs last year and seem to have a good chance to make it back again. The Pirates are poised to set the record for longest losing season streak in MLB...if they'd rather be in that position, they can have it. We also have an owner who has shown willingness to spend money in order to re-sign players and acquire free agents, as well as better players through trades. The Pirates ownership has shown a willingness to pocket revenue sharing money and trade off their marquee players at the first chance.
  19. That will be tough with more guys becoming arby eligible next season, and probably needing to acquire some other pieces. I wouldn't mind keeping him again, but I don't think it's a viable option for Milwaukee. Hopefully Lorenzo Cain will be ready for next season.
  20. Fortunately the Brewers just haven't had to rely on their bench all that much so far this season. I do wish Nelson would start getting some hits though...Macha has given him plenty of chances in the past few games. Also, isn't Nelson out of options? There's a chance another team could claim him.
  21. Well, I know some were worried about him possibly declining with age, but so far that does not seem to be the case. Anyway, looking at how the guy seems to have a tremendous workout and work ethic, it's clear he makes it a priority to stay on top of his game. Great fielding CFs who hit for power don't exactly grow on trees. I know Melky Cabrera is actually playing well so far this season, but I can't see him maintaining it at this point. I'm definitely glad that trade didn't happen.
  22. I think props need to be given to the whole coaching staff at this point. From day 1 of the season, it's like the Brewers have evolved into more complete baseball players...rather than the one dimensional homer-or-nothing w/ bad defense type of lineup.
  23. Wow, some delusional people over on that Pirates forum right now. A lot of people certain the Pirates will finish ahead of the Brewers, etc.
  24. Anyone possibly having a set of tickets for June 25th they are looking to sell? I need four, would prefer lower level. Please message me. Thanks!
  25. Another odd one. I suppose they'd need HD camers for Brian and Bill, Telly, etc. though.
