  1. Lots of good advice already, but I'll throw in my two cents, as a relatively new home owner (wife and I bought our first house in late '05, still living in the same place): Visit lots of different houses would be my advice. Don't feel like you have to rush and make an offer on the first one that sounds good. If you check the listings, if it's like the area I live in, there are good houses coming onto the market on a weekly basis that are probably selling below what they normally should. It's a great time to be a buyer. Also, be honest about how much work you are willing to do on the house if it has some issues or is a "fixer upper." I am personally not very handy, so that ruled out some places we looked at initially in our lower price range. Finally, work with an agent you trust. We were fortunate to know quite a few realtors, but ended up going with a close family friend of my parents. Maybe this isn't an option for you, but if you know someone well, may as well work with them.
  2. Well, Gallardo gets a pass for last night...but it's getting old seeing our pitchers give games away. Our offense still has some issues, but overall has been performing pretty well. I asked this elsewhere last night...but do you folks think Melvin knew the pitching would be this bad but couldn't do anything about it, or was he in denial and thought they would be better than this?
  3. If we could just get Braun and JJ going a bit more, this offense would be on fire. Still, can't fault those two when Braun drew three walks and JJ hit a homer. Just seemed like we kept getting a lot of bad breaks, with liners hit right to defenders, and big flys caught on the warning track.
  4. Neither Braun or Fielder really saw anything to hit in that inning. Fielder especially.
  5. Yeah...if you look at his season ERA from the past few years, it's gone up an average of .40 every year. He's declining rapidly, unfortunately, it seems.
  6. Wilco is playing in Milwaukee this Wednesday at the Pabst Theater, or so I hear.
  7. Here I thought this might finally be the game where the Brewers take a lead early and cruise to a nice victory. Silly thought.
  8. Not sure...I live in Fort Atkinson. It's channel 318 here.
  9. Man, I feel bad for you guys. For all I rip on Charter, at least they carry WMLW.
  10. Wow, just saw one of his games on MLB Network this past Saturday morning (game where he dominated the Yankees). Too bad.
  11. I thought I'd bump this up, since Pedro keeps being mentioned as a possibility after Suppan's second bad outing of the year. I don't think it's realistic at all. Reports are that he's still asking for $5 million or so, which I doubt the Brewers have. I also doubt he'd want to even come to Milwaukee. Seems like the type who wants the limelight. I think people forget that he's been injury riddled and not that good for the last couple years. Just thought it might be worth discussing at least.
  12. You want to move him to the outfield? Who would he replace? It's not worth it to bring him up, just to have him ride the bench or make spot starts as a 4th OF.
  13. Nope, not offended here. Thanks for clarifying.
  14. No...I don't think he has. If he doesn't strike out (Kendall), it's almost a forgone conclusion that he will hit a bouncing grounder down the third base line. Too bad he doesn't have the speed of a Juan Pierre or someone like that.
  15. Come on...what are you really basing this on? I know he isn't hitting that well yet, but he barely got any real spring training time. He could easily just have a bit of rust on yet. He doesn't look hurt on defense at all. It's going to take more than a handful of swing throughs for me to panic about Braun....and even if he is somehow still hurt a bit, jumping to the conclusion he's going to go on the 60 day DL is a tad extreme.
  16. Well, if Capuano was physically capable of pitching right now, I'd be all about bringing him up.
  17. Well. we all know Braun wasn't that great last September, but that was due to an injury. Maybe Suppan was hurt as well...but as far as you can compare a position player with a pitcher, Braun has already done better this season than Suppan has.
  18. Doug is going to have to do something sooner than later if we are going to compete. I don't know if Peavy is the answer, but we're going to need somebody who is actually good if Suppan keeps going like he has.
  19. I think 50% Cubs fans was an exagerration...I was there, and I think it was closer to 1/3 or maybe 2/5ths. Still more Brewers fans there, from my observation. The Cubs fans were obviously loud, and it was worse towards the end of the game when a lot of fans were filing out...obviously many Brewers fans threw in the towel on this one.
  20. Yeah, I didn't get why Rivera couldn't pinch hit in the 9th for Kendall last night. We were down by, what, four runs anyway? Kendall is basically a guaranteed out right now. Would it really have been that big a risk to have Rivera take a chance in the batter's box? I was really mad when I saw Kendall walking up there last night.
  21. After being at the game last night, I'm "done" with Suppan. I'm done defending the guy and defending his signing. He's been something like 0-8 with a 10.00+ ERA since last Labor Day. I'm just going to assume every game he starts is a guaranteed loss from here on out. Yesterday was one of those losses where there wasn't much we could do. We got robbed of a grand slam, and the Cubs made a couple other key defensive plays. Still, this "starting pitcher" is going four innings and eating up our bullpen more than he's "eating innings." Disgusting.
  22. Yeah, could be. Sullivan seems to just be rehashing stuff...basically saying the Cubs could be in on him, but the Brewers may try to get him because it makes sense, and so Chicago doesn't get him, etc. Just kind of summarizing the obvious.
  23. For some reason I read it as "610" in your post. Sorry.
  24. Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune also has an article up about how the Brewers could pursue him later this season.
  25. Are you sure that's the right frequency you're referring to? I can't find a reference to it on the web...radio-locator.com, which is usually pretty reliable, doesn't list 610 AM as a Milwaukee station either.
