  1. I don't see why something like Cameron/Hall for Cabrera/Kennedy should be that hard for the Yankees to do at this point. It makes sense for both sides. And as far as the Brewers paying any salary, I hope Melvin told Cashman what to do with that idea.
  2. I agree, but I don't think he would sign for less than two years guaranteed...he was pretty good for the Astros this past season (granted, it wasn't a huge length of time). I think he'll be looking to get three years somewhere.
  3. Really not that interested, unless he was exceptionally cheap. He was not very good at all last year for the Phils.
  4. I really don't see Suppan being a huge factor in limiting the Brewers ability to make roster moves. Many here love to finger point at someone, and I guess the guy making the most money is a prime target. However, this team was just offering over 100 million to one player, so I'm not buying that Jeff Suppan is this huge boat anchor dragging the team down financially. We knew what we were getting with him when he was signed...a veteran pitcher who would eat innings, and probably be pretty mediocre. I'm sure Melvin knew that as well when he signed him.
  5. What would you do with Suppan?
  6. Supposedly, Peavy is now mad the Padres haven't traded him yet and is saying he won't have a no-trade list going forward. Don't know if there is real substance to that, but MLB Trade Rumors has an article up.
  7. Would signing Wolf to, say, a three year deal, really be that bad at this point? He's only 32.
  8. Ben Sheets is not going to be playing for the Brewers in 2009. Just deal with it.
  9. 540 definitely gets the better exclusive people, for whatever reason (Haudricourt, etc.) I like the D-List, mainly for Drew Olson. Also, I do like Homer...though he can get kind of overly opinionated (even for sports talk) and a bit gimmicky sometimes (the stupid "Breaking news...today we'll have Mark Tauscher on, because it's Tuesday with Tauscher!" type stuff). At least he does use stats, like someone else said. I usually agree with his opinions generally, as well. I listen to 1250 WSSP sometimes, but not as much now that they went with Dan Patrick in the mornings...sorry, but I'd rather hear about local sports stuff. Also, their afternoon guys sound pretty unpolished. Gary Ellerson in particular is usually pretty rough.

  11. Well, I think this off-season is again showing the creeping disparity between the "haves" and "have nots" in baseball, exacerbated by the current national financial crisis. It seems like four or five teams are able to stand above it, while everyone else has to cut back on spending. But, the game is awash in cash, so nothing will change any time soon.
  12. I really don't think there is much correlation between Attanasio's business and the Brewers. It's not like he's running the team on his own dime.
  13. My post was based on reports that Hoffman's camp and Melvin have already talked, and it seems there is no possibility of him coming to Milwaukee.
  14. Yeah, but where is he going to go on the West Coast, really? The Mariners and Giants are losers right now, Padres aren't spending money, the A's probably aren't spending money...I somehow doubt the Angels or Dodgers are that interested...
  15. One thing about the economic downturn...I've heard that baseball attendance actually has done better, historically, during recessions, because people go to one or two more ball games instead of going on a vacation or whatever. I dont' know if that's actually true, but someone was talking about that on MLB on XM a couple weeks back.
  16. I actually liked Terminator 3. It was a really great movie from a plot standpoint, but a lot of the action stuff was pretty well done, IMO.
  17. Cabrera has a lot of upside...only 24 years old. Hopefully he can evolve into an everyday CF. It's just that a lot of us don't like the direction this team seems to be headed, after their first playoff appearance in 26 years. Cabrera certainly isn't going to be a huge offensive boost next year for the Brewers. Of course, a lot of attitudes around here will change should the Brewers sign someone like an Adam Dunn.
  18. Boy, I sure hope so. Melky would be a big downgrade from Cameron in terms of offense. EDIT: Of course, if they do that, where do they put Hart? (Please don't say stick Braun back at 3B).
  19. I don't like it...I hope there is more to this trade than just a young utility type for a proven veteran on the last year of his deal.
