  1. With the way these quotes are worded, I have to wonder if there's something behind the scenes we don't know about... Like some bad locker room chemistry or a couple guys with bad attitudes, etc.
  2. Don't forget Braun's own line this past off-season where he said "I'll play wherever they want, except third base...that didn't work out to well before." Personally I wouldn't be in a rush to move him back to the infield. He seems to handle right field pretty well right now.
  3. Does anyone really believe that would be true? I do. I'm not sure what the deadline would be to exercise it, but I don't think they'd be in a huge rush.
  4. Yeah, I really don't get it. What's the point of starting both catchers in a meaningless game?
  5. My wife and I were trying to go tonight, but couldn't get a sitter due to it being homecoming weekend in our city. I will miss going to games until spring, even if the team is out of playoff contention and the season has ultimately been disappointing.
  6. Melvin said at the time that he and Attanasio hadn't even talked about Ramirez yet. The Gallardo story is more believable though. Some people still seem to be thinking about player salaries and team budgets as if it were 2005. $13 million for a #2/3 type of starter like Gallardo is basically a bargain these days. ERA around 3.50, WHIP just under 1.3. He's not an ace, but you would think he was Jeff Suppan the way some in this thread are talking.
  7. He's still only 28 years old.
  8. Kind of surprised there wasn't a thread on this already, as news came out last night from Jon Heyman that the Brewers are going to pick up Yovani Gallardo's $13 million option for 2015. Probably kind of a no brainer move in my view.
  9. They're apparently going to retire the #1 in honor of him. I think that's a tad silly (and I have nothing but respect for Selig and what he's done for Milwaukee and the Brewers), but whatever.
  10. My sister recently moved into a very old house (like about 100 years old) and had to pay professionals to "bat proof" the entire house. She was finding them regularly inside the living spaces of the house. Talk about expensive.
  11. I was just going to post that. Hopefully, Attanasio isn't that stupid.
  12. The most realistic scenario would be for the Brewers to get Braun to agree to defer a larger portion of his salary over a longer length of time. That's probably the only way to reduce the near term financial liability of his contract. Hopefully he gets the thumb issue sorted out and returns to being close to the player he was the past couple years.
  13. Yeah, relatively speaking, it's not the huge millstone around the franchise's neck that some are making it out to be.
  14. I think Monday the axe will fall on one if not both. Then again, maybe I'm naive and Attanasio will stay with the status quo.
  15. Rubber match of the series. Today's Brewers lineup: Gomez CF Braun RF Lucroy C Ramirez 3B Davis LF Weeks 2B Rogers 1B Segura SS Gallardo P Reds lineup: Phillips 2B Pena 1B Frazier 3B Bruce RF Ludwick LF Rodriguez CF Cozart SS Barnhart C Holmberg P
  16. I found the spring training weather in Arizona to be absolutely amazing when we went in 2010. I'd be disappointed if the Brewers went to Florida.
  17. We gave him more than enough rope to hang himself. We're all for people being enthusiastic, but he crossed into trolling territory on many occasions and received multiple warnings. I made my post a little clearer. I got what you meant.

  19. FWIW, I've had a Note 3 for several months and absolutely love it. Re: Memory, SD cards are very cheap now. I have a 64gb one in my phone. I think paid like 35 bucks for it.
  20. 11. most importantly, get a Molitor statue built at Miller Park I'm not sure the MLB commissioner can dictate that, though I suppose I could pull some strings.
  21. Maybe it would be more fair to say that the franchise as a whole is very healthy and sound, but the current and near term state of the MLB team is questionable.
  22. I can't remember if I've commented in this thread before, but here's my list off the top of my head: 1. Player names on all uniforms. Sorry Yankees and Giants, but it's 2014. Get with the times. 2. Make each team declare 25 players for each game, even when rosters expand to 40 players. 3. DH in each league. I used to be kind of borderline about this, but I'm tired of watching pitchers pretend to bat. I don't find sac bunts and double switches that compelling. Pitchers have enough of an advantage as it is. 4. Limit visits to the mound. I'm not sure of the exact criteria, but the catcher shouldn't be able to visit the pitcher every at bat. 5. International draft. 6. I would still allow fans to vote for the All-Star Game, but I would use a weighted system where the fan vote only counts for 1/3 of the total results. Let players and coaches determine the other 2/3 of the vote. Also, I would make voting online only and not start it until late May. Having ASG voting in April is ridiculous. 7. Relocate a team to Montreal as a new version of the Expos, if the city is willing to build a new stadium. Put the Rays and A's on notice that the team that doesn't get a new stadium deal will be moving. 8. Shorten Spring Training by a week. It drags on too long and players and coaches don't need that much time. 9. No more starting the season in Australia or Japan a week before the season actually starts. Then again, the item above could solve this one. 10. Pull the trigger and start using the Questec system to call balls and strikes. Home plate umpire shall remain in place to relay these calls and determine safe/out at home plate, etc.
  23. I'm not even sure if I'll watch this one tonight. Kind of numb to the Brewers at this point.
  24. Dmiles, where do you live? If you're here in Wisconsin, I'm assuming this is just a garden snake or something else relatively harmless. You still probably want to get them out of there, as you don't want them getting into your house and spreading around the bacteria they carry. Might be time to call a pest removal professional.
