  1. It's disappointing how the bullpen has become completely unreliable, especially given how it was one of the team's biggest strengths before the all star break.
  2. Yeah I was surprised by that too, but I admittedly don't know much about college baseball.
  3. I was at the game last night and many of us were surprised as well. Most of us were figuring it would be ruled "inconclusive" and the call on the field would stand.
  4. Tough loss last night...I can't totally jump on the anti-Roenicke bandwagon that developed last night, but I do think Lohse was left out there too long. Why not use Estrada in a situation like that where your starter clearly doesn't "have it" on a given night? Hopefully the Crew rallies back and gets a win today. A series win at St. Louis would be huge right now.
  5. Braun has enough athleticism left that I think moving him to 1B would be a waste at this point. Maybe move Aramis there next season and find another option at 3B?
  6. It's an interesting idea, though Molina would probably tackle the Brewers batter when he stops halfway to the mound.
  7. Yes, that's exactly it, though I don't remember if it's based on this season or the last.
  8. I think this is a solid summary. I think some posters have that attitude that unless you absolutely fleece the other team, it's a bad trade. In reality, probably at least 75% of the time, trades tend to be fairly even. You have to "give to get", as they say.
  9. Melvin dealt from a position of strength to fill a position of need...I think that's what matters most right now. Schafer has looked horrible this year, and we didn't have any other really good options on hand to fill that 4th outfielder roll. Parra should fit nicely in that position.
  10. This, although I'm rather surprised the Rays actually pulled the trigger on trading Price. I'm just glad he's not going to be facing the Brewers...at least not until the World Series.
  11. Unexpected move. Schaefer getting sent down to Nashville to make room on the roster.
  12. Glad he didn't go to the Cardinals or anyone else in our division. Kind of surprising the A's parted with Cespedes. That would be like if the Brewers traded Lucroy right now (sort of).
  13. Seems like they just need a warm body for their rotation right now. I don't think they're going to turn him back into the pitcher he once was, but being it's the Cardinals, he'll probably pitch like an ace the rest of the season.
  14. The neat thing about Mike Carp is that my wife got his autograph before a spring training game four years ago (this was when he was still with Seattle). So there's that.
  15. Well, now my world view is shattered.
  16. I just really don't like the idea of giving up Nelson. I don't think I'd want to do this trade if it means giving him up.
  17. Glad he's not coming to Milwaukee.
  18. Maybe in theory, but due to realities of nighttime AM signal propagation, their coverage is much larger than that. The KMOX wikipedia page talks about how their signal can sometimes be heard as far away as Scotland and South Africa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KMOX
  19. Lee is still a very good pitcher, but at 36 years old, he's not the lights out ace he once was. I wouldn't unload the farm system for him at this point.
  20. Yeah, and then Doug Melvin got really ticked about the rumors getting out.
  21. I'm pretty excited about this...just hope he can be effective at the MLB level. Our bullpen needs a good shot in the arm right now. Either way, I won't be missing Wooten much.
  22. Love this first comment under that article: "Colby Lewis' ERA disrespects the game of baseball more than any bunt single ever could."
  23. I'd blocked that name from my memory after the Coghlan fiasco and how angry the whole thing made me. Is that guy still around?
