  1. The Brewers already have a couple guys with playoff experience in Craig Counsell and Jeff Suppan. World Series rings, to boot. There are also other veterans on the team like Damian Miller and Geoff Jenkins, so I wouldn't say the entire team is raw youngsters. Now, should the team go out and get another reliever or bat to help down the stretch, that is another argument entirely.
  2. You DirecTV subscribers aren't the only ones getting screwed when it comes to the HD games. Charter does not carry any of the Brewers HD games from FSN at all. From what I understand, they will not be any time soon, either, because their channel carriage (sp?) is basically at capacity.
  3. I don't know how many times this has to said but a manager simply can't pull every starting pitcher at the earliest signs of trouble. The bullpen would be fried after about 2 weeks. True, but let's face it...there have been more than a couple instances where Ned left a pitcher in a game well after it was clear he just didn't "have much left in the tank." You can argue that maybe there weren't other options in the pen, etc., but Yost's management of the pitchers has been somewhat questionable at times. I guess it doesn't matter overall, given the team's record right now, though.
  4. I don't think Brian Anderson qualifies as a "hoss". I dunno...maybe I don't pay attention to the announcers as closely as everybody here. I think Schoeder and Anderson are fine. Ann Carrol and Davey Nelson annoy the heck out of me, though.
  5. It's really shocking to hear about this. I've been a wrestling fan since watching guys like Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan as a kid in the late '80s...Chris Benoit was never my favorite, but I always enjoyed watching him. He seemed like a straight headed guy, and was apparently very repsected throughout his industry. I never met the guy or anything like that, but it's really hard to hear about his demise like this. I wish if he really had such heavy personal issues that he had sought help instead of taking the lives of his family and himself. Just a really sad story.
  6. This is terrible news. One of the best pro-wrestlers in the world, and one who seemed like a genuinely nice guy in real life. Just horrible to hear this.
  7. If he truly accidentally went over the bag, that's a bit different. It would be assumed he would've touched the bag anyway. Cutting the corner is completely different.
  8. It's akin to corking a bat or greasing a baseball. It's cheating.
  9. The Cubs are for sale. I really can't see them taking on that much salary at this point. Sounds like wishful thinking from the Chicago media more than anything.
  10. Probably not highly in demand, but I have an extra one for trade (in box). I'm looking for a decent full size bobble in return. I already have: Ben Sheets, Gorman Thomas, Hotdog, Molitor 5". You can probably tell I'm not a huge collector. Thanks.
  11. I also enjoyed one of those big 24 oz. Mike's Hard Lime drinks the other day. Not a bad buy for two bucks and some change, says I.
  12. Remember when this offense was anemic? 6 runs already in three innings. I'm soooo glad Bill Hall is hitting again.
  13. Yeah, I finally found a six pack of this last night (at a liquor store, the big grocers around here don't seem to have it), and I really like it. Much more enjoyable than, say, Miller Lite, personally. Seems like a really nice summer beer. The lime taste was stronger than I expected, and that's a good thing. Seems like a nice beer to buy a six pack and split with a buddy on a hot day outside, that kind of thing. I'm a big lime fan, personally...Tom Collins and lime margaritas when I'm not drinking beer tend to be my thing.
  14. I'm excited that this game is on FSN today, apparently, meaning I can watch it at work if things are slow.
  15. "The ads for Captain and Jack are for the malted brews. They may not show it much, but technically it's for the little bottles of stuff." Uh, no. I'm not an expert on liquor, but I'm pretty sure that big classic bottle of Jack Daniels they show in the commercials with bands playing is not a "malted brew".
  16. I just cannot see the Giants trading Bonds. It would alienate their fanbase badly at this point.
  17. I remember seeing the couple episodes they ran on FOX when they were trying to get people into it before running it full-time on FX. I thought it was kind of funny and quirky, but not necessarily something I'd go out of my way to see.
  18. Yeah. Haven't you noticed all the ads for Jack Daniels, Absolut, Captain Morgan, etc. on TV over the last couple years? It basically happened after 9-11, because the networks supposedly needed to start making money after all the commercial free air-time that they ran.
  19. We moved into our house about a year ago and signed up for digital cable and high speed internet through Charter right away. We did this for a couple reasons: mainly, I can't tolerate dial up speeds anymore (college will spoil you on that these days), and I wanted to get HD channels, which you can basically only get easily through digital cable (our house doesn't have an aerial, so getting over-the-air HD would have been a pain). I admit, the installer who they sent had a bit of an attitude, but he did the job quickly (I think he was miffed that he was doing installs on Memorial Day weekend, but that wasn't my problem). Yes, the mailers do get annoying, but I've actually taken advantage of a couple offers. We added HBO and several digital tiers for basically no additional cost (we dropped Showtime, which my wife and I never watched), and we recently added a phone line through Charter for only about ten bucks more a month. I wanted a phone line to set up a fax machine for my business, otherwise we would have stuck to cell phones. I really can't complain about their service over all. Occasionally, something in the "OnDemand" service will be unavailable for a while, but this is pretty minor. We really haven't had any big issues as far as the internet going down or channels going black. I'm surprised to admit it, but we've been pretty happy with Charter thus far. Yes, you pay a lot, but we're getting a ton of channels, including HD and a DVR box (which is awesome), high speed internet, and a phone line. I really don't believe we'd save more by getting those services through separate providers, and the convenience of one bill is somewhat nice.
  20. Is the game going to be on FSN today? brewers.com doesn't list it.
  21. Yeah, MLB 07: The Show is kind of like an updated MVP Baseball. (I never had '05, but still have '04 for Xbox, and it's a great game). The thing I've been playing a lot in "The Show" right now is the "Road to the Show" mode, where you create your own player, and then only play his at bats and fielding situations. You get points to improve your player's skills, and start in spring training. It's a lot of fun. (Although I'm still kind of getting used to the hitting system a bit).
  22. Argh, my eyes! Seriously, I hope the Brewers remember to bring their bats to the game tonight. I think Brewers Fandom could really use a freaking win about now.
  23. Well, I do enjoy the Summer Shandy. It's something different, I guess.
