  1. The worst thing about being in a band is dealing with musicians. Argh.
  2. I think I vaguely remember "Ask Your Neighbor" being on when my mom would pick us up after school, unless I'm thinking of a different program. His career was mainly before my time, but seems like he was universally well respected by everyone in the radio industry. At 88 years, he lived a long full life.
  3. Seems like it's getting more and more popular for marginal MLB talents to go overseas and see if they can re-establish their value. Good for him.
  4. Seems kind of silly to have both this and the Walk of Fame, but that's just my opinion.
  5. Who can say no to this smile? http://miamiherald.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83451b26169e2019b016e0839970c-320wi
  6. I almost got t-boned by an inattentive driver on his cell phone, about three blocks from my house, this morning. Other than that, roads were not nearly as bad as I'd been lead to believe.
  7. Braun is too athletic to be "wasted" at first base. He has learned to be a pretty solid outfielder. Leave him there until he gets too old to handle it anymore. I think the ideal situation would be to move Aramis Ramirez to 1B and find a good third baseman, but that is probably a pipe dream right now with how this off-season has gone.
  8. Just a note to everyone: Let's keep this topic about Corey Hart. There are other places to discuss possible 1B replacements elsewhere on the board.
  9. I love Bar Rescue. It's one of my favorite shows on TV.
  10. Yeah, I can get behind it with the amount of players who have come out and said something needed to be done. It will be interesting to see what plays at the plate look like going forward. Edit: Thinking on it more, the other thing this will accomplish is that it will place an increased emphasis on defense from the other positions. Runners will be even less likely to take a chance going from third base, if the outfielder with the ball has a cannon arm, etc.
  11. My big problem is that none of those guys have actually been convicted of anything or been banned from baseball or even suspended because of it. Being accused of something doesn't equal conviction.
  12. Very disappointed by this, personally. I enjoyed Hart and think he's been underrated for years. I hope the difference wasn't a measly half million bucks or something. I'm not excited by the other options out there, either.
  13. I really hope at some point the voters collectively just vote in anyone deserving based purely on stats and awards. None of those guys have been banned from baseball like Pete Rose was.
  14. Sounds very murky, but a guy named Shane Miller (of "Outside Pitch MLB") on Twitter is claiming "Source: Rickie Weeks could be traded to Marlins for Logan Morrison." I'd take it with a big grain of salt right now until more details come out or other sources verify.
  15. Royals manager New Yost with some nice comments about Smith here: http://m.jsonline.com/more/sports/blogs/235153821.html
  16. He will sign a one day contract with Toronto and retire officially as a Blue Jay. Tremendous career...probably not a Hall of Famer, but still a great pitcher and was one of the best to watch over the past decade or so.
  17. I guess I don't get the fascination with this guy. Career .764 OPS. I guess if you want to argue he's 26 and entering his prime years, then fine, but I wouldn't give up much to get him. He'd be better than Fat Juan, but that's about it.
  18. I'd love to see Carlos Gomez traded for a package of prospects with high upside, but I just don't see it happening with Melvin at the helm and Attanasio calling the shots. Edit: Updated the thread title to be more specific. 12 year old me is disappointed.
  19. I personally don't. We're talking about Robinson Cano, a guy who averages about 24 home runs a season and a .860 career OPS. Very good player, but not a guy I think the average fan is going to buy a ticket specifically to see. I think there are few positions players like that in the game right now. Miguel Cabrera is maybe one. Puig is probably another, like you said.
  20. MLB Network just showed an interesting graphic about the Mariners' attendance. Basically, over the past twelve years, their attendance has steadily plunged to about 50% of their peak in 2001. I'm not saying it justifies this contract, but from a business standpoint, they probably did need to do something.
  21. Yeah, that's a sad story, craig. I have an uncle who died about three years ago, at age 59. Lifetime multi-pack a day smoker who died of lung cancer. I can't believe we still have people in our extended family who smoke, but that's how it is.
  22. If you do, wear a Brewers jersey.
  23. That's seems all but certain now.
  24. That's good to hear. It sounds like he has the potential to be a solid #4/5 type. I think that's a great return for a 32 year old right fielder, if correct.
  25. He looks like he could be a starter, but seems to profile more as a reliever. I'm not unhappy with the trade. The writing was on the wall that the Brewers were going to deal an outfielder, and Aoki made the most sense with the rise of Khris Davis.
