  1. Breaking news now on Twitter. Smith is 24 years old, 6'5" 250 lb lefty.
  2. FWIW, Haudricourt said on Twitter right after talk about that came out on Monday that, "While Mark Attanasio is owner of the Brewers, they will do all the can to stay in Arizona." I think all the talk of them moving to Florida is just that...talk.
  3. If Mat Gamel was never a Brewers draft pick or had never worn a Brewers uniform, would we even be mentioning him on this forum? - 6'1", 220 lbs - 28 years old. Will be 29 this coming July. - 4th round draft pick in 2005 - Corner infielder...generally regarded as having "OK" to questionable defense. - Played none of 2013. - Career .229 BA and .641 OPS in the majors. - Has never played more than 61 games in a season in MLB, and that was back in 2009. - Has had his character and work effort questioned in the past by teammates, former managers and coaches, and journalists. Once had his gear thrown out of the locker room by teammates. I mean really...would anyone be talking about him without having the Brewers connection?
  4. The Arch is kind of neat to see if you haven't been there, and there is some interesting areas and dining not far from it. Other than that, yes, burn Busch Stadium to the ground.
  5. Yeah, but if they secure one or two more World Series championships in the mean time, they probably won't care too much. "Pennants fly forever", as they say.
  6. There'd be no downside in picking him up... you'd rather continue on the 'Juan Francisco is terrible' merry-go-round? That's quite the leap, TLB. I would rather see the Brewers re-sign Corey Hart, and/or give Hunter Morris the opportunity. Gamel had more than enough chances in Milwaukee. I'm not saying it's his fault he repeatedly got hurt, but that was the situation.
  7. If he'd sign for around a million for one year, I'd be OK with it. Otherwise it's best to leave his Brewers legacy in the past.
  8. Of course this pretty much means Gomez won't be signing another extension with the Brewers, if he was ever going to.
  9. I kind of feel like I don't want to go back on the "Gamel hurt yet again" merry-go-round at this point.
  10. The Brewers did Parra just never listened. I can safely say after having seen more than my share of Manny Parra that he just plain needed a change of scenery. Whether it was just a disconnect with the coaching staff or an inability to learn, he just was never going to put it all together in Milwaukee. Good for him though at getting a decent payday, though.
  11. Well, I'm not a law enforcement expert, and I don't want to get into a bunch of improbable hypothetical scenarios, but I'm guessing someone is much more dangerous if they slip into a public stadium undetected, versus trying to do something while they are still outside the facility.
  12. How is a fairly basic and routine safety measure a "giant middle finger?"
  13. Mark Attanasio has already gone on record as saying Braun won't be traded, so I'm not sure why it's even remotely being talked about. Just lazy speculation building on that writer's part.
  14. Well, so much for Fielder playing out the rest of his career "at home". Good move for the Rangers, and the upside for the Tigers is some major salary relief. Kinsler is a nice get for them too.
  15. http://cubasport.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/yuniesky-betancourt-3-mlb.jpg This is why. Who can possibly resist that smiling face?
  16. Whenever I'm at someone's house and they have "tru-motion" on, I'm always so tempted to offer to "fix" their TV, but then I remember some people like having it on, for whatever reason.
  17. Ugh, I still have lawn furniture to put into storage, and the snow hasn't melted away yet.
  18. I'm pretty sure the Hoarders shows are 100% real. Maybe there's a bit of "coaching", but I wouldn't imagine very much is needed in those situations. I think hoarding in general is a much bigger problem than many realize. My wife has a couple relatives that are probably hoarders, or very borderline at least.
  19. That's what "reality" TV is. I don't get it either. A lot of the boys at the high school I work at love it. I guess it's better than them watching Jersey Shore or any of that other reality trash. I don't get all the "hick reality" shows that have been popping up. I don't see the appeal. That said, I really enjoy Bar Rescue, but a lot of the people on that show also admit that they've been coached and things are scripted out to happen. I think watching these shows is fine, as long as you know that it's not 100% "reality". I assume most folks know that, these days.
  20. The Brewers are having a "Japanese Heritage Day?" Probably won't be able to get a ticket since the thousands of Japanese people in the Milwaukee area will no doubt be snatching them up.
  21. Hopefully Miller Park is still good enough in 10-20 years still that a major renovation can be on the table, but not a completely new stadium. I can't imagine the five county area and state going through the new ballpark debate again given the current political climate.
  22. I think the biggest factor is that the Braves were only leasing Turner Field. They will be the owners of the new stadium, and thus will get to keep a much larger percentage of revenue. It sounds like the new location will be much easier for many fans to get to, so that is a plus as well.
  23. Turner Field is not even 20 years old (opened in 1996, built for the Olympics). Seems weird to think it's "outdated." There's another story about a county official from Cobb confirming this. Edit: The Braves official Twitter account just confirmed they have purchased "a large tract of land" and plan to build "a world class ballpark."
  24. Apparently for nearby Cobb County. http://mdjonline.com/bookmark/24025051-Atlanta-Braves-moving-to-Cobb-County Article says that the new stadium is planned to be ready for the 2017 season.
  25. Yup. http://imperialholocron.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Darth-Maul-Returns-DVD.png
