  1. I don't think Kapler should start, but I wish he could teach Hall how to take an easier swing, especially with 2 stirkes. That AB he had today to tie the game was a thing of beauty. Not trying to kill the ball or hit it out of the ball park, just trying to put the bat on the ball. Why can't everybody do that? Seems like we have a lot of guys that try to hit a homerun no matter what the count is. That is good stuff Rluz. I always thought Rickie takes a lot of pitches, but still has horrible pitch recognition. My theory was he can't handle the outside breaking stuff, but pitchers have a harder time getting that over for a strike. So that leads to a lot of multi-pitch at bats, where Rickie doesn't swing at the outside pitches until he gets a couple of strikes, but it usually takes the pitchers 4 shots to get two strikes on the outside corner. So then you are at 2-2 before the at bat really begins.
  2. They have a good bullpen don't they? As much as I like the adjusted standing stuff, it doesn't seem to take into account bullpens very well into the formula.
  3. The IRS doesn't get paid if Prince is in jail, so Prince isn't going to jail.
  4. I did not advance the idea that the brewers made more outs on the bases than other teams, just that many of there outs are of the little league variety. Getting thrown out by 10-15 feet at home plate, hart running with his head down and running into Prince at 3rd, a suicide squeeze missed, so Hart gets in a run down at 3rd. Things that a big league team should not do. I have no idea if other teams also make the same number of bonehead mistakes as the brewers, as opposed to aggressive baserunning where the other team has to make a good or perfect play to get the out.
  5. I disagree with your math. These guys are major leaguers, executing a throw in from the OF isn't that difficult. I remember us making a few outs at home plate this year, I don't recall anybody who was safe at home b/c the throw in from the OF was that poor, or the cutoff man was missed.
  6. There's a difference between a close play at the plate and being thrown out by 25 feet. By your logic, the players shouldn't even bother looking at the 3rd base coach, if there are 2 outs and they get to 3rd, just keep going home. That doesn't sound like sound strategy to me.
  7. They had two in one game. It was the cubs series, it might have even been the game Yovani got injured in. Prince got nailed at the plate by 5 feet and tried to run over Soto and then in the 9th weeks got nailed by like 15 feet at home with 1 out and prince coming up next. Literally weeks wasn't even in the picture on TV by the time Soto had the ball. Do you also count the failed suicide squeze where Kendall missed the sign and I believe it was Hart got caught in a rundown as an out made at home? The brewers have not been good on the bases outside of Corey Hart.
  8. Why don't we get them to throw in Kemp while we're at it?
  9. Just pointing out a pattern of behavior that I don't think benefits the team. Obviously it didn't impact tonight's game. Do you think that the behavior of a team leader or manager has no bearing on the overall performance of the team?
  10. Anybody else think Ned has too thin a skin to be in a high public profile spot like manager of a major league baseball team? I think back to the way he reacted to the report about how much coffee he drinks, and he went ballistic over that for no good reason. He better thank god he manages in Milwaukee with the wimps we have covering the sports teams in this town, compared to the bloodthirsty sharks in places like NY, Boston and Philly. He wouldn't have lasted a month in one of those towns. And does anyone else think that perhaps Ned should spend a little more time trying to figure out how to fix the brewers, rather than spending time complaining about whether some stupid blogger thinks Ned is going to be fired? This incident just drives home the point that Ned isn't fit to led a major league ball team. He doesn't get he big picture and seems to have some crazy obsession with proving his manhood or something(look at the pujolos incident last year). Way to teach the young kids to not let things distract them Ned. We've just lost 5 in a row, and we've lost 9 straight on the road, and Ned decides it time to give a lecture on the responsible journalism. We need a guy with brains, and I don't think Ned's got enough to get the job done.
  11. If someone wanted him, why wouldn't they claim him when he went through waivers?
  12. Are you really worried about somebody claiming Branyan? Every major league club had their shot at the end of spring training. He's just not the hot commodity some people on here think he is. I'd rather see Laporta up for some DH time in the AL, just like they did with Prince a few years ago. Not that it matters anyway.
  13. My only question, is Ned a Cubs fan or a Cardinals fan?
  14. All I hear is bells and whistles.
  15. Seriously, I was contemplating what team I should raise my children up to follow tonight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKR3QU3dB0M
  16. Move Hall to SS play Dillion at 3rd, move Hart up to leadoff. There seems to be a lot they can do, but they don't seem to be doing anything. They've got pieces, they should do something with them. Everyday it's the same lineup. They need to do something.
  17. The only full season the brewers made the playoffs, they fired their manager mid-season, so firing Yost would not mean conceding the season is over. Not by a long shot, especially with the wild card.
  18. I don't think there has to be a rock bottom per se for Yost to get fired. Everyone can see the team is playing tight right now, and the reason for that is Ned Yost. We all know he tightened the screws on the boys last year with team meetings before every series. It obviously hasn't changed this year. Have you ever listened to his press conferences after the game? They sound like the most painful 15 minutes of your life. How can the players be loose under this guy? I think they will give him to the end of the month, and if we're more than 3 games under .500 at that time, adios Ned.
  19. Any ideas to save the season? I think right now you have to go with using Bush and Parra as your 4th starter. Let one start, but let that guy know he's only going 5 innings no matter what and that the other guy is going to come in after that to finish the game. We'd have to call up Weaver/Naverson and he'd probably get his brains beat in, but I have to think that's better than getting the last two spots in the rotation losing and not getting out of the 5th inning. Of course this would only work if Villy can right the ship and start pitching better/deeper, but I don't rally have any other options right now, cause what there are doing isn't working. They need to shake something up.
  20. He didn't pitch that badly. He got screwed in the 3rd when he stuck out Ramirez but the ump missed the call and Hart didn't catch that bloop hit off the bat of Hermida. He really should have been out of the inning with out giving up any runs. At least he pitched into the 6th inning unlike Parra. If we lifted Bush after 5 innings like we do with Parra, his ERA would be a heck of a lot better.
  21. Really? I'd much rather have Prince up with guys on 2cnd and 3rd and 1 out than be aggressive and get thrown out by 20 feet. There's being aggressive and there is being stupid and that play was just stupid. I would love to know if Rickie ran through the stop sign or if Dale waved him in. Anybody know?
  22. And the edmonds trade and the McGwire trade and a bunch of others. BP did a comprehensive analysis of all of Jocketty's trades and he pretty much came out ahead in all but like 2 or 3. In total St. Louis came out way ahead in total on all the trades he made in his career with them.
