  1. Do you really thing Ben could win his 14th game in a single season for the Brewers? I think if he did win it, he'd be found dead the next moring. It's like he's in some bad horror movie. Anything over 12 wins and the grim reaper comes looking for him. If he is done for the year how many millions does this cost him in FA? Do the brewers still offer him arby? Any chance he accepts a one year deal to prove he's healthy?
  2. Why would you want to get rid of Mota? He's been our best reliever the last month. Without him we'd probably only have 1 win this month.
  3. A few thoughts/questions 1) Did anyone see Melvin playing with his fingers early in the press conference? He looked really nervous or uncomfortable up there. Or maybe he just has a lot of energy to burn off, but if he was on a Cop show on TV, everyone would think he was guilty. 2) I did find it amusing that they somewhat insinuated that Ned was fired because he doesn't have any answers, but the Dale's answer seems to be, the players need to perform. Why didn't Ned think of that? 3) I was putting the kids to bed, so I missed the second half of the pressers, did anyone ask if they considered anyone else besides Dale to come in? 4) Ned gets fired and we seem to get 100 stories about the horrible clubhouse atmosphere last year and this year by the national news media. Where was Tom H. or any of the other local sports reports on these stories last year? 5) Someone a few pages back posted that by firing the manager we've given up on the season. The late Harvey K and Jack Mckeon would disagree with that statement.
  4. Why can't Villy and McClung both go 3 innings each and then get the last 3 innings out of the pen. They are long men, they shouldn't need to be stretched out to throw 3 innings.
  5. Can anyone think of other baseball players that ate their way out of the league? I'm having a hard time coming up with some. Andruw Jones appears to be doing that right now, although I think he has other problems too. Tony Gwynn when he first came up stole a lot of bases. He got really fat and stopped stealing bases but still hit .300+. So I don't know if gaining weight is going to hurt a player's offensive production. John Kruk was another fat dude and it didn't seem to hurt him. Matt Stairs looks like a beer league softball player and he's still crushing RH pitching. I think it hurts his already poor defense, but I could see him bouncing back next year. Whether that's with the Brewers or not remains to be seen.
  6. I'll be at the brewers game, but I'll have a radio to listen to the packers on 620. I offered a die hard brewer fan tickets to Monday's game and I was shocked how quickly he turned me down.
  7. I would question the logic that banning carry-ins is somehow going to magically speed up the time it takes to get into the stadium. The ushers now check bags for booze and beer. If they ban carry ins they will just have to check for booze, beer and food. How does that speed up the process? Women are still going to bring purses to the stadium. Families with little children will bring diaper bags. All those things will still need to get checked. The ushers aren't going to stop checking bags b/c the brewers change their carry in policy. I fail to see how this is going to speed up getting people into the stadium. Just a bad idea all around, b/c the people bringing food in, aren't likely going to buy concessions, b/c as several people pointed out, it is just 3 hours without food.
  8. Prince hits for power and gets on base. That's two dimensions in the baseball game as far as I can tell.
  9. Juan Pierre isn't on our roster. Who are you referring too?
  10. DHonks, if the D-backs don't resign Dunn, which they probably won't, I'll bet you whatever you want within reason that they offer him arbitration and that he doesn't accept it and signs a long term deal someplace else.
  11. It's very odd, b/c Jocket was a pretty darn good traded in St. Louis. There's no excuse for him not to have done better with Dunn.
  12. The Reds got minor league catcher Wilkin Castillo from Arizona on Thursday as part of the trade for outfielder Adam Dunn. The Diamondbacks acquired Dunn on Monday for right-hander Dallas Black and two players to be named. The 24-year-old Castillo is the first of those two. He was assigned to the Reds' Triple-A team in Louisville. (Source: Associated Press) Wow - Has there ever been a worse return on a big time stud than the trash the reds got for Adam Dunn? (offset quote and cited source --1992)
  13. It will be interesting to see who the two PTBNL are. A single A pitcher coming off TJ surgery seems to be a pretty small prize for Dunn.
  14. 'Rillo is the first one who put forth that theory.
  15. Blaming the fight on the heat now on Brewers live.
  16. Mike "My skin shines at night" Cameron Anybody want to touch that one?
  17. I find it really hard to blame Turnbow's woes on bandwagon fans who booed him. He pitched over his head for a good time. He was not an all star caliber pitcher. That's why we got him for free in the first place. It was one of Doug's few mistakes in not realizing this and dealing him while he still had value.
  18. The official scoring in all major league ball parks is a joke. Saying O'Driscoll is one of the best is damning with faint praise. More errors should be given out, but they aren't not. These guys are major league ball players. Far too many routine plays are scored as hits on the road. O'Driscoll is better, but he shouldn't have changed the error yesterday. I guess the fielders are the only ones that can complain about the official scorer. How many earned runs did that cost Suppan yesterday? 3?
  19. Suppan didn't pitch that poorly today. The defense let him down and he caught a few bad breaks. He is not good enough to get 4 or more outs in an inning. His defense needs to be sharp behind him, today it wasn't with predictable results.
  20. Jim Powell mentions this too on the radio, but he usually does it later in the game. I think when Bush had his great game against the Blue Jays powell mentioned it in th 7th inning. So if you want to knock BA you should knock JP too, and I think JP is a pretty good announcer. I think each announcer has to decide how to handle it, and those two guys have decided to talk about it. I would think information trumps superstition since we all know whatever any announcer says in the booth doesn't effect anything on the field, no matter what our tiny little brains might like to believe.
  21. Well since they hit 3 last night, they'd only have to hit 11 more to get to the 14. If I was a cardinals fan I think I'd be a bit more P.O. about the relief pitching than Braun standing at home plate.
  22. I don't know about you but I really loved the look on Larussa's face after Braun's HR. He couldn't believe what he just saw. His jaw was around his knees.
  23. Some people aren't happy unless they have something to complain about.
  24. Do they still have that bad TV contract, where the rights are owned by the Orioles and there are hardly any games on TV? They need to dump their GM and start over.
  25. The move had nothing to do with the tax and general business climate of the state. It was done because the leadership of the new JV didn't want to pick either Denver or Milwaukee as the headquarters because they didn't want the city not chosen to be seen as the loser. My question, is anyone going to drink less Miller products because it's no longer a Milwaukee product? Personally in the past I picked Miller products over other b/c it was a hometown product. I do think I will gravitate towards more microbrews made in the Milwaukee and Wisconsin rather than miller products.
