Good point Paul. Brewers are not only power starved but also small market money starved. Hard for me to see them make QO. There just isn't that kind of money in the Brewers cookie jar. A trade seems much more likely but it would hard to lose his clubhouse presence, his smile and his "always ready to dump gatorade" personality. -
Appreciate the info and background to this MLB reimbursement system. Happy for Contreras. Good end of the year bonus for him. Will the Brewers pursue a long term pre-emptive contract to keep him happy? Catcher is one of the positions MLB teams struggle to find good positional players and we have a VERY good one. My guess is that nothing of this sort happens this year. Great article!

I forgot about this awesome trade which brought us some memorable Brewers especially Don Money, Now a member of the Brewers Walk of Fame. The Moneyman was with the Brewer Vrew for 10 years (1973-1983) and played on the great 1982 team. What a great trade!

Appreciate your response. IMHO I think you can look at the other pastures and still appreciate your own pasture. I grew up cheering for people in alot of different pastures. Pastures in St Louis, Chicago, Boston and New York to name a few. So grateful the people of Seattle let go of something that has become so special here in Milwaukee. I am sure there were people in Seattle who greived the loss of something that had become special to them.

Trading Williams to possibly afford signing Willy Adames. I am just wondering if their is some trepidation with trading someone who is as popular and loved in the clubhouse by the players. It's a long season and people like Willy appear to make the ride smoother. That being said it does not appear to make sense to hold onto such a highly inconsistent bat. We need better than a 220 average at SS. I also belive that when Hader was traded the Brewers thought they had deals with other teams for othr players. Maybe they wanting to get their ducks in order before pulling any major deals so a repeat of last time doesn't happen.

The no trade clause would be a factor in attempting a trade. It might be more of a contract dump for the Brewers without much player personnel return. Interesting thought Turbo on using the money to sign Burnes. Small Market magic. -
I wish Willy's bat was more consistently full of "sound and fury". :)

Appreciate the article. An upgrade in the infield with more power is just what the Dr has ordered. Looking forward to seeing what Matt Arnold has in his sites. Thinking Willy Adames is too expensive a sign. Would really miss the Willie energy and clubhouse presence. That will be difficult to replace. However packaging Adames and one of our outfielders could bring in a big bat. Marte would look good at SS in Milwaukee. I'd still like to see them figure something out with the Orioles.

Now is the time to trade him. Best value to be received as they move further into the youth transition. They need more pop in the bats in the infield. If they get more power they could then move Turang to SS. We can't have 3-4 players hitting in the low 200's like last year. More power in the infield opens up shortstop for Turang's superior defensive skills. Maybe he makes a second year jump with his offense. Bottom line is to trade Willie.

I remember the days of collecting baseball cards and cheering for my favorite players. Saving up for the cards and reading over and over the stats on the back. Reading the Sporting News magazine. Cheering on teams with incredible players like Bob Gibson of the Cardinals and the 4 twenty game winners of the Orioles who also had gold glovers like Brooks Robinson, Paul Blair and Davey Johnson. Yaz hitting for the triple crown. Small town Pittsburgh Pirates winning the World Series. The Big Red Machine of Cincinnati. The Washington Senators and White Sox playing at County Stadium when there was no Milwaukee team. The Pilot's moving to Milwaukee. Jumping off the dugout onto County Stadium's field to celebrate the American League Chamionship in 82. My kids memories and their childrens will be choked off and overun by the greed of the present times. The addage of Ernie Banks "Lets play two!" has been replaced by money, money and more money. $750 million dollar contract to play ball. The Field of Dreams is becoming just that... a far away dream.

Not feeling this at all. Aquiring another low OPS player with good defense confuses me. Hoping we don't go in this direction.

I don't really consider Kimbrel a high end reliever any more. Lot of money to pay for someone so inconsistent and unreliable. Going to be tough to trade Williams there now since they signed Kimbrel. Still Williams is so much better. And has 2 years of control. Would have been a less expensive route to get Williams

Looks like this will require some patience. Encouraging that alot of the talks included trading Corbin Burnes. Lots of interest in this area. Where there is smoke a fire is nearby. However it may be awhile before we see the flames. Just really, really enjoying this new era of brewer baseball. So much to look forward to. The youth movement is so exciting. I am stoked. Now lets light thre fire! Your thoughts Fanatic Nation.......

Good point Team Canada. Forgot about that no trade clause. Good to have some veteran presence on the team as well as good to see him swinging the bat well again last year. Our best batter by a mile for most of the team except fpr Cantreras. The other thing about Yellich is that he is a joy to watch running the bases. Guys may be faster but won't get there any quicker than him. Amazing going from first to third. Even better on the first to home when someone doubles him in. Just special

Could it be rather that he is untradable? He is a 32 yr old outfielder/DH and maybe firstbaseman who is signed thru 2028. The contract which escalates seems to paint a picture of untradable and not untouchable. Your thoughts

Coby Mayo would indeed be an OUTSTANDING aquisition. Go ahead and make an offer they cannot refuse. Give up Burnes and one of their many outfielders. One Oriole in the hand is better than 2 in the bush. Go Large! Don't look back but push forward.

We need to swing for a power third baseman. No more Montasterio platoons at the corner. I like Andru but not as our starting third baseman. If Adames is dealt and Turang slides to the hole we need a second baseman. Might be a second base platoon which includes Tyler Black. If they don't swing for a big bat at third then let the young ones play just like the Packer's did with their WR's.

That indeed is good news. The Milwaukee Brewer's international scouting presence is really reaping benefits these days. Just another way for a small market team to stay in the game. Keep it up Brew Crew!
