  1. you have to love mclung, dillard and shouse's approaches. nothing to lose, aggressive. going after hitters. never felt that way with riske or gagne. those two may find a place in the middle of games but the competition is surely heating up. i love it. if we can win the first series on the road against a struggling Colorado team - i know we don't perform very well out there - this team will have the stride and confidence they need to send a message to the cubs. the cubs are always fun to watch when they are looking over their shoulder... because they can't stop looking and the media won't let them stop looking, as well. should be a fun june, at least!
  2. things are finally bouncing our way. hardy looked like jack from three's company trying to score. seriously. who taught him to run like that? sheets?! i love it. RW's average stinks, but he is a part of a lot of our wins recently. cameron! poo.
  3. whoah. braun's language would signify that was NOT a strike on the first pitch. i like his fire.
  4. i know, caballo. just seeing what everyone thought... taking the thread's temp, if you will. cameron! oh, poo.
  5. hamilton is a monster. r johnson is a redneck. HDTV provides proof of both.
  6. My FSN has been fine - had the pregame show on and got that fine along with the game so far. I have Time Warner Digital Cable - no HD though. i think mine is screwed up. weeks didn't strike out.
  7. 7 for johnson. somehow nobody k's in the first 3 innings, not even mclung. he gets it in the 4th on braun.
  8. so hall's intro and first at bat will be interesting, to say the least. the expected thing is a smattering of boos... that will probably be a given. regardless of my thoughts on the press today - not good - i would be surprised/impressed if the crowd got behind billy - during this hot streak - and gave him a loud, supportive cheer sending a message that we appreciate him and what he brings to this team. chances of that? between that situation and johnson's record and seth on the hill for us it should be a fine game to watch with the potential for some drama from the get-go! and to think two weeks ago i was considering giving up the brewers for knitting.
  9. has that happened a lot this year or is it just me?
  10. after two pitches i hope you are right. eesh.
  11. yes, let's say goodbye to May with a Sheets win... that month came in like a lamb and went out like a veal.
  12. what does everyone think of the Rothschild vs Maddux argument? while we are talking about the cubs getting it done, we may as well bring up the fact that their pitching has been pretty solid, while ours has faltered... but isn't dead yet. has Rothschild gotten more out of his staff than Maddux? is this a major or THE major difference in these teams right now? and wait!!! did i just see correctly that the cubs are 25-8 at home now?! they have lost HALF of their games at home on June 1st to the Brewers?!
  13. so it's safe to say that he was 270, um, like, LAST YEAR. i get it. i was once listed at 185 lbs in the football program. now i weigh 205 in the mirror. sorry, that was supposed to be in the blue. and now it is.
  14. it's a defensive, aggressive, insecure coping mechanism. and it's weak. if he's trying to be Bobby Cox, he's not doing it right. whatever he learned from Bobby is not being translated into his current managing style. boo.
  15. true Rluz. but when you look at opponents instead of home and away i see the cubs having a tough June and a really, really tough september. if the teams on their september schedule are still playing as well as they are now (possible?) the cubs are going to have their hands full. and wouldn't that be sweet to see them fold in the final month of the season with the brewers being a part of their demise, whether we make the playoffs or not? plenty of time for a few Cub injuries. plenty of time. and by the way... The Cubs are still The Cubs are still The Cubs. anything can happen. if they do make the Series, though, I would love nothing more than the White Sox beating them. Chicago may implode.
  16. great question. not good question, but a great question. i think if you look at all of the numbers you posted and factor in a few things Ryan Braun is great. numbers-wise he could have easily had the sophomore slump - which is the direction he looked like he was heading early - but he has adjusted to pitchers pitching to him differently and pitchers now knowing his approach after facing him last year. he has shown he can adjust and i don't think that ability is going to go away anytime soon. my guess is he ends up hitting about .312 this year. not sure why, it's just the number that keeps on popping up when i think about it. character-wise i think he is pretty solid and a breath of fresh air to the organization and league. or league and then organization, actually. his demeanor, approach to the game and commitment to the brewers while showing humbleness and common sense when he signed his contract were so impressive to me. i've said it in another thread somewhere about how it was so refreshing to hear his parents both say "he needs to stay grounded" when they were interviewed during a game after the contract signing. that put a smile on my face for many reasons. so, when thinking about his numbers and what he will mean to this organization in the long run i figure those types of things into the equation. thus... my vote = great go Ryan.
  17. i may be right behind you. the funny thing is i USED to like hip hop when it first came out! now i can't stand Scott or Smith. not for a second.
  18. was just about to start a thread on this! live in chicago so we had the wgn telecast but i saw in the in game thread that berman was rooting for the cubs without shame... what was he saying? completely biased? i used to like him 15 years ago only because i am a fellow alum of his and he was adding "personality" to sports on television. now he has become a caricature of himself and it's pretty disgusting. a product of disney, though, so i am not surprised. so what was spewing out of his mouth tonight?
  19. couldn't agree more. let's trade gagne and one of the sausages for chris young. now.
  20. i LOVE first pitch from Torres is a STRIKE! gagne & turnbow seemed to have problems doing that...
