  1. Bottom of the 4th, and only 1 hit between both teams...
  2. He's got a ring, a house 45 minutes from the stadium, and the Padres are flipping the bill for his country club measurement. I would be absolutely shocked if Maddux agreed to be traded.
  3. That trade sort of summed up the Bando era... Instead of trading for higher-ceiling prospects that might have been further away from contributing, he went with the lower-ceiling players that could come in right away and contribute.
  4. I guess it would be nice to know what the payroll ceiling is for the market, so we could work our way backwards when talking salaries. I think 90M is probably about it. If it costs 20M per year to keep CC, that would be 22% of the payroll, for what it's worth.
  5. To put this in perspective, CC turned down a 4yr/72M deal to stay in Cleveland. This was coming off a year where the Indians were pretty close to being in the World Series, and he turned it down in S/T before their collapse.
  6. I think with the West as pathetic as it is, the Dodgers still feel like they have a shot and will actually be buyers at the deadline. Yeah, the cupboard is pretty bare right now on the pitching market. And I really, really don't think Maddux is going anywhere. He's got a no-trade, and I really don't think he's going to be motivated to waive it.
  7. To the contrary, I think that's exactly why teams are shying away from him. The hordes of cameras and reporters invading the clubhouse and focusing specifically on Bonds would be an absolute chemistry killer. Plus, Melvin knows that I'd shut the site down.
  8. I repeat, there's already a Ray Durham thread here.

  12. Haren, Harden, Harang... Whatever, some guy who throws a baseball.
  13. My ex-girlfriend had a cousin who was really into baseball, and like Jim Abbott, only had one hand. He got to meet Jim, and it was the greatest moment of his life.
  14. A pre-september callup would seem a bit foolish. Not only is his defensive versatility limited, but it would also start his arby-clock early. I think a September call-up is entirely possible, though.
  15. This person is not famous for being someone's relative.
  16. There's already a Ray Durham thread here.
  17. This person is in the film/television industry.

  19. C+ ... Better than last year, but hasn't learned to go with the hot hand in the pen yet.
  20. is it "O, Fortuna"?
