  1. The key is the other "2 minor leaguers". Their quality probably would depend on how much of Roberts's salary they would have picked up. But honestly, I don't think trading someone they were about to release, a waiver-wire pickup, and a minor league free agent for a quality backup would have been a bad trade.
  2. It'd be a shame for them to move away from 620 AM, since their transmitter is so powerful. I'm not sure what reach WISN has, but I've always enjoyed being able to listen to 620 AM from most places in the state.
  3. I don't eat cereal all that much, but I do love me some Honeycombs.
  4. Gwynn simulates defensively what Cameron brings to the table. I can't argue too much with trying to keep the defensive positioning as consistent as possible (with Gwynn's range helping Ryan out until Cameron can get there). It also has the side benefit of showcasing him for a trade in case he's the one to go when Cameron comes off the suspended list, but I don't think that factored into the decision.
  5. Argh.... I already took off for Monday so I could enjoy the game instead of trying to sneak home early to catch it.

  7. Everyone's doing very well on the topic, but I'd just like to reiterate that the discussion of religion & politics is not allowed here, so please try and stay as objective as possible. Thanks
  8. This information is already in the game thread.
  9. Let's use this thread instead.
  10. I do think people undervalue defense sometimes, but this is pretty ridiculous.
  11. I agree with you Jason. I wouldn't necessarily call myself a baseball "purist", but I think the idea of opening the season in Japan is dumb. The travel takes away from each teams' ability to play exhibition games and get their work in. They also have to modify the 25-man roster moves to accommodate the team not making their final cuts yet.
  12. I took the survey as well...
  13. http://iiwww.c-els.com/p/78099320668.jpg Only one... Famous Dave's Sweet & Zesty. I'm a HUGE BBQ sauce fan and put it on pretty much anything, but I don't diversify too much. I'm also a fan of Sweet Baby Ray's and Big Bob Gibson's, but i'll take Sweet & Zesty whenever I can.
  14. I guess I don't view the players that way. There are certainly players that I pull for more than others, but I don't think there's anyone I would call a "bad guy". As the season goes on, someone might emerge ala Alex Sanchez, but I think this crop of Brewers players is quite likable.
  15. I guess I'm not sure about it.... If it means anything more than a couple of dollar a month increase, I'm going to be unhappy about it...
  16. Honestly, this thread looks like a vent to me. I'm fine with talking about any of the points mentioned in your original post, but talking about all of them would be very scattershot.
  17. I guess I don't see the association between McClung and Villanueva. One's a reliever, whereas the other is slated to be a starter. Better to have Villanueva stretched out and ready to go by getting a few starts in AAA than to have to stretch him out "on the job". But honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Villanueva was in the rotation on opening day. I wouldn't take anything Melvin or Yost says at face value until the season starts.
  18. The object is ALWAYS to win now and in the future. It's just that the emphasis on which one changes. McClung pitched well for the Brewers last year, so it's not like they're carrying an Enrique Cruz-type here. Sure, they picked up McClung for a song, just like they picked up any other number of nuggets that turned out to be quite beneficial. If Maddux can see something in a guy that he thinks he can turn into a plus piece, who am I as some dude on the internet to question that?
  19. He had an ERA of 3.75 and a K:BB ratio of 2.2 last season (admittedly, in 12 IP). If Mike Maddux believes he can harness that potential, I'm not going to question it, as he's been right more than he's been wrong. Given the fact that there aren't many long-term options in the bullpen, I'm fine with giving him a longer leash.
  20. I've probably got two, but that's only really because I haven't made my pilgrimage to the Mount Horeb Mustard Museum in a long time. My favorite by far would be: http://www.peppers.com/images/products/ACFkBKk6f.JPG
  21. LINK TO STORE All items are only $1.00 over cost. The markup is only there to help defray the monthly cost of the store.
  22. All designs are now up at the store! link The only thing that's not quite complete are the pocket doppler designs on dark shirts.
  23. It almost seems like you're thinking I'm talking about legal vs. illegal. I don't wish this person ill-will, it's her choice to choose whatever career she chooses. However, when a national cable news channel decides to glorify that particular profession by specifically inviting Penthouse Pets to do the weather all week, I find it immoral. I'm not forcing this view on anyone else, I'm just saying that because of that, I don't want to watch it anymore.
