  1. There is also a guy who sits behind the Brewers dugout in the first row with glasses that is a huge fan, and he too doesn't miss any games. I think if you watch the broadcast of the Brewers clinching game against the Cubs last year, there is a shot of him after Braun's homerun with a great look on his face as he is cheering Braun that says it all about the moment. You talkin' about that cat who looks like Judge Ito? I love that guy.
  2. Do yourself a favor. Don't call him anything, and do not make eye contact. Ays someone who has had the misfortune of getting stuck in more than a handful of conversations with Freeway, trust me, you'll thank me.
  3. This thread is hilarious. The Brewers have been absolutely dreadful so far this year, and people are making a point to give kudos to Macha, seemingly for one reason...his name is not Ned Yost. If the Brewers were 4-9 and in last place in the division, walking every batter in sight, this place would be going ballistic, with a new Yost thread started every hour. I'm not saying Macha is to blame, and I believe the Brewers will improve, but to suggest Macha deserves any sort of praise at this point is as ludicrous as saying he deserves blame.
  4. I agree with much of what has been said here. In general, I am a fan of having veterans on the bench. However, whether we are talking about Nelson and Mcgehee, or Lamb and Jenkins, at this point, that's all they are..guys on the bench, because they are not going to get starts in front of Braun or Fielder because those two aren't hitting on April 19th (or August 19th for that matter.).
  5. Freeway is not interesting or compelling. He's irritating and annoying.
  6. Many things wrong with this team right now...well beyond Castro. I was thinking tonight, the suckfest this season has been thus far really shouldn't be all that unexpected...New Manager, new coaching staff, new rotation, new bench, questionable bullpen with no closer...could take some time, if it comes around at all. Speaking of, the sooner the Brewers want to stop pretending Villanueva is a closer the better.
  7. What if we had an additional 12.5 million to spend the last two offseasons, think of the extensions and/or trades Melvin could have pulled off!... The reason I am so glad the Yankees outbid the Brewers for Sabathia. As much as I would like to have him here, a couple years down the road, that contract would have been an absolute nightmare for the Brewers (as it will be for the Yankees, but they can handle it.).
  8. I've learned I am still concerned about Parra, and Suppan is still bad.
  9. I have no issue at this point in saying as soon as there is a reasonable alternative, go ahead and make a change. Obviously, that alternative would likely present itself in the form of McClung when Hoffman returns, but who knows? I guess I can't really think of many other options.
  10. I had TMJ on in the background at work a month or so ago, when a pre-season game came on, and it took me a good 5-10 minutes of not listening intently to remember/realize that it wasn't JP. As far as Provus goes, he is no Jim Powell or Pat Hughes, but I think he's just fine.
  11. I guess I don't understand the whole situation. Given that he is here and being used, we sort of have to assume he is healthy physically, or at least they believe he is, right? So that would mean he is just not all the way back, and not ready to pitch, or just bad. You have to believe the Brewers think the former. I guess I just don't believe his contract is a major factor in their decision making process. Plus, although he didn't have much of a Spring, when you get right down to it, neither did McClung, and Dave Bush was equally bad the other day. I'm not optimistic, but I will try to remain hopeful they know what they're doing.
  12. I disagreed with this move the moment I heard about it. I could be wrong of course, but I don't like it.
  13. Of course it is what the team is capable of...I am simply saying I think the win totals of those two guys in particular will be a big time indicator of whether or not this team has playoff potential. But let's face it, over the course of a season, a SP's win total has much to do with how that particular pitcher pitches. Of course there are factors like run support, defense etc., but for what I'm talking about, those are also relevant. Let's face something else, if your starting pitcers aren't racking up decent win totals, you probably aren't winning that many games. To put it very simply, for the Brewers to make the playoffs (at leats be in contention the last weekend), I am of the opinion Gallardo and Parra need to combine to post about 30 wins (I use that as an indicator of not only how well they pitch, but also the overall team performance, what is required of the bullpen, etc.), If not, I guess I don't see it happening. The question is, is that possible?
  14. Anyone familiar with this? I would like to sign my kids up, but am wondering if you get an actual ticket when you redeem the voucher, meaning I could potentially use a couple of them. I don't necessarily see us using all 6 games, and I'd prefer not to buy those in addition to tickets for myself that will likely go to waste.
  15. What's hard to understand? If those two guys can get 30ish wins, that requires for less of the other three spots in the rotation. Or, look at it the other way around...If those two cannot combine to win 30ish games, do the Brewers have any shot of getting to the 88 or so that will be needed to make the playoffs? Suppan, Looper, Bush...I think not. The point is, those two guys would appear to have the potential to post win totals in the mid-teens. There is nothing random about it. If they can do that, and the other spots can average 9-10 wins each, that puts the Brewers in position to compete for the playoffs. On the other hand, if those two combine for only 20 wins or so, now it will require the other 3 spots to do much more if the Brewers are to flirt with the playoffs. I don't see the other starters being capable of that.
  16. There cannot be a set forumla or timeline. It is very simple though, if the alternative makes teh Brewers better, you make the change. If making a change, weakens the team, you don't.
  17. Then again, when you factor in Suppan, 35 may not be enough.
  18. Very interested in the Fergie Jenkins ball, and if I might, it isn't actually for me but for a good friend of mine who is a life long Cub fan, and has brain cancer (I swear I am not making that up).
  19. Well, if your right, I would say we can probably go ahead and make our playoff plans right now.
  20. Obviously anything can happen, but I guess I am using that number 25+ as a key indicator for the team this year. If they get there, I think the Brewers have a shot.
  21. Anyone think these two can combine to get 25-30 wins? If so, I'd say the Brewers have a good shot at hanging around the WC in late September. Anything short of that (independent of mid-season trades, etc.) and I think it is probably a struggle to .500.
  22. They will sweep the Brewers this weekend.
  23. This move also seems to signal that Rivera will get some AB's off the bench this year. Obviously he is the only RH hitter there, at the moment anyway, couple that with McGehee's ability to catch if necessary, and I think its safe to say Rivera will do some pinch hitting.
  24. I honestly get the sense he feels like he owes them for the way things went last year and wants to at least try to make up for it.
